The total generated electricity on Wednesday fell to 2,030.5 megawatts from the over 5,000MW peak recorded earlier this year.

Data obtained from the power System Operator in Abuja on Wednesday showed that as of 8.37am, electricity generation had fallen by over 800MW when compared to the 2,841.9MW that was recorded at 12.42pm last week Thursday.

The fall in power generation, according to officials of the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing as well as private investors in the sector, is as a result of vandalism of gas pipelines and the destruction of vital infrastructure in the industry by miscreants.

“Aside pipelines vandalism, some miscreants have been involved in the destruction of vital power infrastructure, and this has been affecting not just generation, but transmission and distribution as well,” a senior official at the ministry said.

The official, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, also stressed that the ongoing difficulty in the downstream oil industry was also impacting negatively on the power sector.

Corroborating this, the Executive Director, Association of National Electricity Distributors, Mr. Sunday Oduntan, said the power situation was a big concern to operators in the sector as they were losing huge amount of money due to the development.

On the cause for the drop in power generation, he said, “It is mainly because of gas pipelines’ vandalism although there are a few other issues that also attribute to it. But I must say that the current poor supply of electricity across the country is not the fault of the distribution companies.”

On electricity load allocation to power distribution companies, the System Operator stated that Ikeja Electric got 304.58MW; Abuja, 233.51MW; Eko, 233.36MW; Benin, 182.75MW; Ibadan, 263.97MW; Jos, 111.68MW; Kano, 162.44MW; Kaduna, 162.44MW; Port Harcourt, 131.98MW; and Yola, 71.07MW.

Oduntan explained that the more power allocated to the Discos, the more hours of supply to households across the country.

“The drop in generation is affecting everyone, particularly at a time when there is petrol scarcity. For if we get enough allocation, this will mean more hours of power supply to households as well as to industries and other organisations across the country,” he said.

Power Generation Further Depreciates By 800MW, Now 2,030MW.

Meanwhile Buhari promised us 10,000MW before the end of his tenor.

Its clear he will be voted out come 2019.

Akpos Story!!!
One very Monday morning, our teacher was teaching us about the government, so for homework that day, she told the whole class to ask their parents what the government is. When I got home that day, I went up to my dad and ask him what the government was. My dad thought for a while and answered, ''Look at it this way: I'm the president, your mom is Congress, your maid is the work force, you are the people and your baby brother is the future.'' ''I still don't get it'' I responded. ''Why don't you sleep on it then? Maybe you'll understand it better,'' said my dad. ''Okay then...good night''. I said and went off to bed. In the middle of the night, I was awakened by my baby brother's cry. I went to my baby brother's crib and found that my baby brother had taken a crap in his diaper. So I went to my parent's room to get help. When I got to my parent's bedroom, I looked through the keyhole to check if my parents were asleep. Through the keyhole I saw my mom loudly snoring, but my dad wasn't there. So I went to the maid's room. When I looked through the maid's room keyhole, I saw my dad having sex with our maid. I was so surprised, but then I just realized something and thought aloud. ''OH!! Now I understand the government! The President is screwing the work force, Congress is fast asleep, nobody cares about the people, and the future is full of poo!''.

That is it. We get raped everyday by the government and no body cares. We pay higher bill for darkness, higher bill for banking, soon to pay higher bill for making calls. With all these bills and nothing to show for it, life keeps getting tougher for the people and the work force keeps suffering and smiling as if all is normal.

Incompetence has destroyed the economy that "corruption" had kept stable.
Look at capital flight everywhere. Just yesterday I read an article where it was stated that for every $1 brought into Nigeria $2 are taken out.

It's easier to talk than to actually back it up with action.
It's so easy to criticize when u are not in the direct scheme of things.
PMB,Fashola and this APC led government are finding this out the hard way.
It seems they where actually not prepared for governance.
Failure in every aspect including the corruption crusade.
Even simple issues of governance is a big headache.
*No power supply
*High unemployment rate
*Lose of jobs
*High criminal rate
*Poor economy and inflation on the raise
*No fuel
*Religious and political instability
*Ethnic instability
*No direction,etc.

The only thing they can boast off is Bokoharam,of which it's the weapons left behind by the previous administration that is been used to win the war.

I really want this government to succeed because that will lead to good national development but as it stands I don't see them having any cogent plan aside media persecution and propaganda on the corruption crusade.

I'm nonpartisan,but as it seems now,I guess I'm more of a wailer than a zombie!tongue

Feel free to quote me out of context,I will not give u the pleasure of a dignified reponse.
