Hi Guys, I noticed my son has "tongue tie" (pls google it) right from the delivery room. He wasn't latching well to breastfeed and it was really painful for me. I showed the pediatrician and he did a simple procedure to remove it, cost me $350. The Dr. was really happy that I was observant and spotted it. After the child is about 6months, it becomes a more serious surgery requiring anesthesia. I thank God it went well.
thank God it was discovered early and you also took a wise decision to do it ASAP. Even though it's cheaper here sha but nothing spoil. All that matters is that baby is doing very well. Take care.

I think it depends on the airline

I used British airways and Klm/ Airfrance for baby 1&2

Never got the Naij passport and I bought one way ticket in both instances

Cc feddy27

I'm using Delta...and I already even bought the one way ticket from the Lagos office before I saw justwise's post. my hubby brought it when coming.

I just hope they won't disturb me at the airport cc feddy27

Hello all,
Pls I'm new to this platform. I intend giving birth in the US and already bought tickets for myself and hubby for 2 weeks in June with the intention that we will state we are in the US for vacation and eventually change my return date to a later date. Going through the posts in this platform, I realised I was supposed to submit a change of intent letter to the consular cos we got the visa for the whole family last year for vacation but didn't eventually travel. I wasn't pregnant then though.. kindly advise on what to do and if it is still necessary to get the change of intent done. If yes, will I need to change the return date? As it won't tally if I declare that I am pregnant and will be staying for almost 3 months.
Also, what are the implications if I decide to go with my initial plan of just stating that my purpose is for vacation and shopping?
Apologies for the long post.

Read the bolded part together. Then Read the very first page of this thread with regards to writing to the embassy. Weigh your options and then decide.
If you finally decide to write in, then its only logical to change the dates which you would have had to change finally

Hi Everyone,

My very first post here and i am very glad i found this thread 2 weeks ago. Actually i am totally new to NL and have been reading as a Guest for those 2 weeks now...at every spare time i have.
I have used the past 2 weeks of stumbling on this thread to read through old post to enable me familiarize myself with how things are done. I must say pple have put in alot of work to give we "novice" mums/dads a wealth of information for FREE.... was so surprised cos i tot Nigerians never share stuff like this.

A little bit about me.

this is my 2nd missionary journey but d very 1st we are considering in the US
I used to consider myself super sharp at things like this but after reading transcripts from pple i realized i cant do this on my own lol
I have filled the interview forms for my hubby and i and interview is scheduled for the 2nd of May
I would be 21 weeks by then and showing of course so i plan to say at the interview that i would be going for vacation and to go and birth
Would be staying with my friend in Texas
My hubby and I are working and have some money saved and would be showing all those details at the interview
...........i believe this is a summary

My question;
i am currently searching for a good hospital in Texas. Has anyone given birth in Texas? i have been going through the thread but i am yet to find any Texas(maybe i missed it).
As advised by @Tvegas and other pple in the thread, i need to get a good hospital that would understand the need of a self paying patient from Nigeria and with a doctor we can relate with well well.

I dont want to bombard all questions at once so i plan to be very active asking questions and sharing my birth diary as i update it for others to learn from....

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies to this

Cc @justWise

Hello all...please I got an infant ticket for my baby on Delta. The ticket is one-way. I intend getting a naija visa on her passport. However, noticed on the first page that justwise posted that if the travel doc is an intl passport, it should be a return ticket. Is this correct?

You are referring to your unborn baby here right?

..again if you have money to give birth in US there is no need scoring an own goal. You will find it difficult to get your visa renewed the moment you start fiddling with your plan.

I'm coming to give birth in US and i have this amount of money to pay all my bills and this is my Dr's corespondent..is that simple.

Greetings.
Happy u were able to handle ur child's tongue-tie issue eventually.

However for mommas who may experience this in the future, you may wish to kindly return back to naija and quietly do it at any pediatric or even general Hospital for waaaay less.

I did my 2 year old boy's tongue-tie loosening just a few weeks back because although I was being strong heard that he'd out grow it when the mum observed it few weeks after birth which now made him unable to speak.

A nurse nipped it after consultation with a pead right there at the injection room as simple as trunking a finger nail.

Fast fwd to a few weeks and he's now using the loosed tongue picking speaking phoné swén swén like his big sister.

Bottom line is some things we do with less drama and complications here in naija.

Ciao

You have already decided to give birth in America but also decided to tell CBP something totally different at POE. Do not misrepresent your visit at POE. We encourage people to stick with the truth on this thread like Justwise has said.

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for an expert opinion so please all senior members try to chime in and advise me according to your knowledge and/or experience. Me and wife are in US on B1/B2 visa and will delivery baby here. My inquiry is

1. There is a government health care program that cover Mom and baby, it goes by the name of CoverKids. If I avail this insurance /financial assistance, does Medicaid/other health care programs are connected to Immigration system?

2. How Immigration department would come to know if my wife has availed this option?

3. Do they just check the payment receipts while exiting the country and who ever is not able to produce the payment receipts they mark her as "blacklisted" i.e used these healthcare assistance?

4. Medicaid/Coverkids systems are connected with Immigration and with passport number they will be able to pull up the details of medical assistance used?

5. At the time of Visa renewal, can we face any complication?

6. Do we need to notify the relevant US embassy that though our visa is B1/B2 but we have to do the baby delivery in US.

Thanks in advance !!

Hello everyone, please how do I book accommodation(hotel or apartment ) in elpaso without making a deposit. The ones I called are requesting for payment with credit card.
I booked in town suites directly from their website without making payment but I secured the booking with my cc details and it had a free cancellation policy.

Check the cancellation policy before you book and remember to cancel on time if you change your mind.

Your wife is NOT entitled to ANY form of taxpayers funded program whatsoever period. You were granted visa based on the fact that you claimed you had enough funds to embark on this journey. So, did you lie at the embassy? Please, do the right thing. The image of the country is already in the toilet

@olokings I'm presently in the US for another 4 weeks. My son is being breastfed and I mentioned that latching was a nightmare for both of us(you wouldn't know cos you are a man). He feeds and sleeps soundly now that he has his tongue tie released. I'm aware it is free in Nigeria but I would have willingly paid $1,000 for both of us to get respite. He wasn't getting enough milk and my boobs were getting very cracked and painful. I'm glad I did it here and wouldn't change that for nothing. My child's comfort is way more important than cutting costs

U knw we are plenty queuing behind you for this Alaska! Wats d gist?
Lol so I went to
Alaska in February( I wasn't showing at all) to gather burden of proof. So it turns out the hospital takes VD- 2000 ( it was 16000 but you get 85% discount for paying self pay and an additional 20% if you pay before delivery)
The 2000 includes Epidural and all medications
Pediatrician 300. Doctor - 5000 ( the one I chose) NICU -497 Total- 7,800
It's on the high side but that's where I have family. Plus my relative promised to buy all baby things I would want. She already got the car seat, sterilizer, warmer, bottles, clothes etc.
PS: I had to go with all tests and scans to see the doctor. He asked me to bring some specific tests when I come for delivery and he promised a free scan before delivery.
That's the story o! If you no get family for Alaska don't bother coming lol
