Lagos is Africa’s fastest growing city and the 7th fastest in the world. With tenacity and unique energy that goes through it, Lagos has around 22 million people, So you will come across different species of people, 95% of this article is personal experience, i grew up in Lagos but i left because Lagos is too rough for my liking, though the advantages that Lagos posses outweighs the disadvantage, which i will discuss on my next post..

2 Terrible traffic jams

In the time that it takes someone to fly from Lagos to Houston, Texas a person living in lagos may be lucky to have reached Victoria Island from the airport by car. Perpetual traffic jams are par for the course in this city and something the locals know how to deal with well

4.No Electricty

Power cuts are endemic in Lagos, and it therefore comes as no surprise that the market for generators is one of the biggest in the world. As a result there is a constant humming sound emanating throughout Lagos, now that there’s fuel scarcity plus heat in lagos due to no constant flow of air because of rampant deforestation (on like,Enugu or Abuja for example ) You wouldn’t want to stay in lagos or else you’re okay, by okay, i mean living above average Nigeria, wh…

Despite the infrastructural deficit endemic in Nigeria generally and more noticeable in densely populated areas like Lagos, the over crowding is not going to get reduced any time soon because of deliberate siting of companies, the only functional seaport and so on in Lagos. This automatically translates to more opportunities and people will naturally gravitate towards such.

To top it off, Nigerian leaders have never been known for sustainable town planning in order to maximise infrastructure and social services; neither is there any conscious effort at maintenance of existing structure hence the decay and avoidable hardship seen and experienced every day. Even when good plans are drawn and prepared on paper, useless government officials will collect kickbacks and turn their eyes away from illegal structures and construction that litter places like Lagos and other commercial cities.

Until there are punitive measures embedded in our laws for failure to ensure proper planning and sanitary services nationwide, we are going nowhere! Real development will remain a campaign mantra for every electoral hopeful regardless of political parties.

Lagosians will demonstrate and kill themselves over fuel subsidy removal but will not bat an eyelid when a section of lagos like ketu mile 12 is under attack by hausa and fulanis

@Op, that your first image I know you see dirt and flood, as for me I see money and I mean the potential recycling holds.
However, the reasons you mentioned are man made and not natural occurences. Therefore, if the peole and the government are willing it can be tackled with creative solutions.
