How i wish this failure Would inspire you to aim for a first class. I once had a mentor that studied optometry. He was a total failure from first and second year. He made the decision that changed his destiny in 3rd year. That was how he made straight As till his final year and came out wit first class after 6years.. Make that decision today and study like your breath depends on it. Mind d friends you keep. Make a study time table god stick to it.

Try to Focus more on your studies than on any other thing. Remember your family will only be proud of you if you emerge in flying colors!

Attend Tutorials

Move with the best students in your class no matter how small/low they are in status or otherwise

Attend class regularly

Do your assignment yourself, if you are not clear about it ask questions. NEVER opt for copy and paste

Ask questions from your lecturers or fellow colleague


Prepare well for exams by joining a Study group.

Think positive and drop all Negativity

Above all : Pray to God the Alpha and Omega for Wisdom, Knowledge, understanding and guidance.

How did you come up with that assertion? First semester of a yr 1 Mathematics student at the University is prolly filled with 2 Gst courses, 1 physics course, 1 Ind Chem course, at least 2 practical courses of either or both of Chemistry and Physics, 1 general Math course and 1 or 2 Comp Sc and general science course.

So how did his 5f indicate he didnt know mathematics? Or you think he was offering 9 mathematics courses?

Went through a similar patch at the same institution years back. From UNO, Iyaka to Ndamitsho I almost threw in the towel.
I vividly recalled Arguing with Dr B.E.N Dauda, the then HOD Chemistry when I notified him of my intention to defer a session due to my poor academic performance. He didn't grant my request 'cos I was one of the best during my remedial days, all of a sudden I started performing badly.

In a nutshell am now living a fairy tale. My course mates and co wonder how I got this far.
Am not rich but not even a first class could have gotten me where I found myself presently.
My candid advice: do a self appraisal, something is wrong somewhere, run a thorough check on yourself.

U can't claim to be good in Secondary school (as indicated by ur O'level results ) and u will have such gp. I guess u r product of "short cut to success". U can't eat ur cake and have it back . you had 5A's and 7A's respectively in NECO and WAEC proof you to be smart regardless the consistent drop in educational standard across the country.......All i read from your post is a guy with close to ZERO dream ( sorry to put it that way bro ). Dare to dream big, Cut of all form of distractions, be disciplined with you reading and social life and read HARD. if thats you first semester result, you can finish you first year close to 2.5 but you might need an extra year to finish all failed courses...........DREAM BIG BROTHER AND BE DILIGENT IN STUDIES....teaching is a good career path but dont settle for the less because of this situation

Dude seriously are we related in any way, there is absolutely no way no one could have said all i was thinking just the way you did, maybe a little differently but it feels really weird reading what you wrote here, anyways i know for sure we don't know know each other but you earned my like and share as well, OP just lack proper guided motivation, i don't know where he is typing, probably from a state where teaching, being a pastor and all that is a major ambition, i remember when i was quite young, around 14 went and lived with my aunt in benin city, as at that time the biggest dream i could dream of basically because of all i saw around me was to be a man of God or a researcher, nothing wrong with these professions but sometimes, your exposure level determines the height of your dreams, dude feels even a teacher would be ok, you are 18, just starting life, we have people of 25, 28 in universities learning and fighting to get a degree for a better tomorrow and here you are limiting yourself, your mind, your scope to managing, bro a lot of people had bad and hard beginnings, learn from your bad grades, work on it, think of what really makes you happy and set it as a motivation, it could be your parents well being, their struggle to educate you and your siblings, people fall, people fail, a lot stay down, the strong learns from his failures and tries harder again, discover yourself, learn your self worth, in the end, you are your greatest and biggest limitation.

Bro, you can do better. Don't belittle yourself. What you need to do now, is to reduce activities that might distract you from being studious. Forget about the past glory of secondary school. Move with friends that are serious about their studies.

For u to call your self " A University Failure" shows u've totally condemned urself. If u want to be a millionaire, think like millionaires!
