UPDATES: I Need Help , My Head Is Full. tnk u all for ur contribution. by bebe2(f): 6:46pm On May 17, 2016
hi family,

am travelling to nigeria in 2weeks with my two little ones age 8 and 5.

i have bought and done all i can remember, clothes, vaccines, insects and mosquito repellant,

all their cereals and a few snacks.

is there anything am forgetting.

i was thinking of getting malaria tablets here but they

want to charge me 19 pounds for 22tablets per child, so i refused. is this a good idea?

what malaria tabs can i give my kids when we get nigeria?

UPDATE

Thank God for journey mercies, we arrived 2days ago.

It wasn't a pleasant trip, everything seemed very off to me , we got of the plane at about 7pm and didn't reach outside the airport about 9.30, the bag conveyor belt kept breaking down so bags were delayed. The kids were restless be cos of the heat.

We finally got home , had some sleep and naija life started, sweet and bitter. embarassed

I can't recount all but let me just give a few tips.

EVA WATER has so many fake bottled water is mind boggling. My kids kept having diarrhea but I couldn't find the cause. Until the last bottle we bought, it was so battered and I thought this doesn't seem right and started to ask questions. That's wen I was told that they buy the empty and and refill.

Here are pics of two bottles to compare

no make me fear oo grin

its been planned since january,

when u have kids who think we can only get water from a water hole in africa. are we going to live in hut?
is it going to be very dark? it seems like all the nollywood education i dey give them no dey work. they need experience the
real thing.

i will carry my tomatoes if possible,

we staying in a hotel so the kids wont really feel the harshness cheesy

they both AS, will get the meds in naija if dad agrees.

Just bring enough money, you can get all you want in Nigeria. Besides you're staying in the hotel, there is no cause to fear.

Please don't forget to take calpol, antiseptic cream for bites and a first aid kit with plasters etc
I would also take some oralyte just in case.

You also need baby wipes, handy tissues and toilet seat disposable covers & antibacterial hand cleanser.

For the flights make sure you have snacks and entertainment especially for the day flight; so books, magazines, colouring pencils and fully charged tablets. You may also want to take some food with you as not all children will eat airline food.

Since you are staying in an hotel, you don't need much so you are good with the snacks & cereal. Dont bother with chocolate or chocolate coated snacks as they will melt.

If your kids are into ribena please take a bottle with you, the ribena out there tastes different and a fussy kid will tell you its different.

Take long pyjamas for the nights so they don't get bitten in the evening/night

Also take toothpaste that they are used to and if you will be washing their clothes out there, take some fabric cleaner. Dont forget their body creams too.

We don't take antimalarials but we give them to the kids. I know its stupidly expensive but for the peace of mind its worth it.

Dont worry, you will all be fine smiley

Always make sure to eat your food or meals when it is very hot. My friend ate lukewarm fried rice and
diarrheaed from Nigeria to Atlanta.
Better burn your mouth than shit uncontrollable. Watch out what your kids are eating.

Calm down na, if you're in Lagos or Abuja it's not that bad. You can get almost any brand you're used to if you're on the island. And I'd probably take anti-malarial meds in Nigeria, but if you wanna shell out for some over there, sure. There's no need to bring a kettle id you're staying in a business hotel (Eko, Four Points, Protea, Fed Pal, Wheatbaker etc).

What I would buy is tomatoes grin

This post makes me feel bad. Does it mean we in Nigeria are suffering? i am work and i feel highly inadequate. Maybe i dont knw how bad Nigeria is. Should we all travel out of Nigeria cos it seems the diaspora people feel we are scums of the earth.

I am not happy at all.

Am I the only one irked by what's happening here? Ma'm you need to relax, what you are doing could be the disease you are dreading. Also worrying is the kind of mindset you are putting on the little kids,I know you call it caring. Just saying, you can never tick all your cards, just come!

My brother, I go every year, am very care free . I wud go to my aunt shop in the market and eat rice from leaf , eat street suya etc.

But my friend is very sick and dats Wat started all this. I have been planning this trip for over 2months.

This woman can't even stand , pooing like it's a running tap, if that happens to a child, It won't be funny .

But the kids don't know am taking all this precautions. Am going to let play hard, walk barefoot if they want.

But I want to be ready for any eventualities. It's not like there is an ambulance I can call it thing's go wrong.
