Just when you call to complain about your data or credit deduction, there's every possible means of these agents to pin the blame on you so as not to refund or reimburse your credit or data.

1. Switch Your Phone Off and On

For Christ's sake what has resetting your phone got to do with reimbursing your credit?. This statement is often used to discredit a customer's claim when they can't proffer solution.

2. The Application for running the program Is not Responding

Another reply you're most likely to get is that the application for running though your life isn't responding. What you'll hear is, "please, hold on while I run a check on your line" after which he will you tell you "the application for checking your line isn't available at the moment" and that you should endeavour to give a call back

3. I will forward your problem to our Technicians

This cliche is mostly used to deceive an aggressive and arrogant customer. When he begins to rain curses on them they will look for a way to end the call, therefore, they will say ** We apologize for any inconveniences you might have experienced, your problems has been forwarded to our engineers who are now working on it**

4. Sir, Our system cannot detect the deduction on your line, call back tomorrow

They will begin to ask both relevant and irrelevant questions such as "are you engaged? Are you living with your friends?" If you say "NO". When there's nothing to put the blame on they will tell you their system cannot detect any deduction on you life

5. Who did you give your phone to ?

Yesterday, N5 was deducted from my phone and after wailing and murmoring for several hours, cheesy I called a customer care agent and started heaping abusive words on him. He asked who I gave my phone to and I said "nobody" . I said I only charged my phone in my class during lectures. He quickly blamed me for carelessness saying maybe my lecturer must have used my phone to make calls where I plugged it without my consent shocked

6. Maybe You Mistakenly Subscribed for it

Sometimes, you're automatically subscribed for caller tune after which will receive a welcoming message. When you call to complain, the agent will blame you for (short memory) not being able to remember when you subscribed. Shey na talk be that? Smh

7. We are carrying out system upgrade, please call back

Last year, na so dem wipe my N1, 100 wey I wan use renew my BIS, I called an agent who told me that my account had not been recharged for the past one month shocked I dropped the call immediately and called again agent, he confirmed that N1, 100 was truly deducted unjustly . Smh

8. Maybe you downloaded heavy files

Let's assume you subscribed for 3.5gb yesterday and it vanished barely 24 hours later. I swear you no fit ever win the customer care agents cos even if na only 2go you enter, they will always look for a way to tell you that you 2go also consume huge amount of data

9. You sim card has not been registered

What has unjust credit deduction got to do with sim registration?. This is another annoying statement used by these incompetent and deceitful customer care agents when they're clueless about your situation.

10. Your Phone Is Not Compatible with Our Network Setting

When you're activated for a data bundle but can't browse, So out of frustration, you called and complained to the customer care agent. He will engage you into a series of annoying questions such as " "what kind of phone are u using?" if you mention a not so common phone brand, he will advise and refer you to purchase a phone in their outlets so as to enjoy good network service. Smh

I don't think I have any point to add because OP has said everything.

Sometimes last month, I called a MTN customer care rep to lodge my complaint of unnecessarily airtime deduction I often experience during mid night when my phone is switched off. She checked my line and after 5mins, she told me to call back that there is an upgrade ongoing on their system. After an hour, I dialled 180 as another person picked my call and he said I made a call during so.. so...period in the mid night, that I should check my phone. I told him that there is no way this could have happened because I am the only one sleeping in my room and my phone is switched off, right beside me on the bed. He re - checked and said I actually subscribed for one Chelsea sms alert. I replied him that even if I am to subscribe for clubs update, I can't subscribe for chelsea because I am a Man utd fan of which in my life I have never subscribed for any sms alert. Later he told to call back that their system is down. Honestly I don't know why these agents lie. Is that what the telecom coys tell them to do?

gringringrin Lol. I can feel your pain tosyne2much, but you wont blame those agents because they ve daily targets to meet and then talking to too many customers for long hrs can be so exhausting.
Talking from a CSR point of view, Some customers are terrible liars and a nusciance that even when a run check on their line there wont br any deduction but a random call they made or some VAS they activated though these most of these network outsourced coys forcely activate some services for customers without their permission...


Anyways, I do go the extra mile to help out my customers and give them solutions when ever they complain about deduction or have any issue on their line or wrt to any coy brand i'm repping because I know what the feeling is like and as a CSR its my job to keep my customers happy no matter what...

Pls hw cn i stop dis unnecessary adverts nd phone calls frm ntwrk. I used d codes nd then there's an option of type 'stop'(smethng like tht) to opt out bt i culd only type wit numbers. Im using a Nokia C2 btw. #laff me. Ur biz.

I remembered the time i called one MTN customer care agent with a sim i borrowed from my sister,the guy asked for my name and i told him my own name and he said i have to give the sim back to the owner before they can rectify the problem.

The next thing i did was to rain curses on the man cos my sister is no longer living with us!!
Till today i never return back to MTN

That's so true...
There was one certain time like that MTN ate my card, I called for a refund and they told me they are working on it, hours later I called they are still working on it. Got so angry and entered into a heated arguement with the agent, boom they swtiched off my line..... I was like MTN abeg na, person nor fit play with una, na small thing like that day vex una.............

I dey my own o, dey think about my life when this message from MTN entered my phone

MTN better me, recharege #2015 to get 2015mb data. Valid for 30 days*

The offer sounds good so I decided to try it.

I started running around looking for money( na im pain me pass). Finally I was able to raise the money, I subscribed and 2015mb ie 2 gb was given to me , I happy well well.


I will browse for a little while, log out and check my balance (that is what caused the problem).
Whenever I dialed *123*4*2#, instead of my balance to show straightaway, a list numbering 1-5 will pop up.

No 1 is to buy
No 2 is to check balance
No 3 is to cancel subscription
No 4 is to cancel auto renew and so forth

The next day, I was very busy in the morning, I was browsing and cooking at the same time. After a while, I checked my balance, and I got this message.

*You have successfully cancelled your subscription.* Chei yippee, I don die ooo. i screamed

I wore my clothe sharp sharp and started running to mtn office( it was when I reached their office that I noticed that I was not wearing bra choi!)

As I was running ,swearing and cursing , I met one busy body woman in my area, she started shouting my name,

Busy body: hey ! hey chy, where are you rushing to like that ? wetin be the problem?

Me: Na mtn

Busy body: mtn ke? Wetin they do you?

Me: They thief my data

wanna know what happened at mtn office? check my signature and search for the blog post *chei mtn better me don pepper me o*

That's how I bought airtel wazobia (N50) one time, only to check my balance and see 49.22? shocked Hian!!! Where my almost 80 kobo go!!! I started to call and call, no be small wahala dem almost put me o!!! Chai!!! cry My 80 kobo just lost, till today nothing... Maybe I will even call to remind them this evening.

Yes customers are liars but speaking as once telecom CCR, the kind of lies we cook for our customers is appalling. Anyway I blame the telecom coys because they give ridiculous call target per shift. To pick 160 calls within 7hours or 200calls for a night shift is kiling dear.
