All those autopsy descriptions are too gory for me and leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Am a Mary Higgins Clark fan. I prefer u tell me someone was murdered and leave it at that not describing the maggot and stench of the corpse or atmosphere

Lol. I get you. Well, Kay Scarpetta is a Medical Examiner by profession, so that explains the intricate detailing of the crime and autopsy scenes.

I have read only one of Mary Higgins books. I have forgotten the title. It's been a while since I read it. It's the story of the mentally deranged plastic surgeon and the red roses. The book was quite interesting.

Permit me to ask, are you female? You sound like one.

Oh, i think that's "Let me call you Sweatheart". The surgeon was putting the face of his daughter on most women that needed a new face I think... it's been a long time I read it but it's in my library. Am going to read it again grin

Lol, yes am female... oh and another thing, please would you happen to know where I can buy "A Song of ice and fire" by George RR Martin in Nigeria? I want and need the whole series (5 of them).

Ps: that's the books "Game Of thrones" is based on

This thread had me falling in love with agatha Christie again... Am reading "and then there was none" now. I downloaded the ebook.

I used to enjoy her "Detective Poirot" series when I was younger and found them in my granddads library

Wow I can't believe no one has mentioned the incredible George R.R Martin's a song of ice and fire collection ....with the first book titled the game of thrones!!! all the way to a dance with dragons!!...the book is way bigger than the miniature universe they've created in the tv series....with characters like the new targeryan boy... Rhaegar and Elia Martell's son,Ser Jon Connigton,Victarion Greyjoy,Euron and so many others.....i'll advice Grab the books soon and allow your mind soar through Winterfell straight down to the wall, move on to sisterton join manderly at white harbour, travel with Samuel Tarly all the way to Oldtown,Move to Dorne where the new Targeryan dude will raise his banners join Ser connington at Griffin's roost then land finally at westeros and witness the murder of Ser Kevan lannister by Varys so called spiders!!!...Other books worthy of note are of course Harry potter series,Lord of the Rings by j.r.r Tolkien, stormlight series by Brandon sanderson and the name of the wind by Patrick rothfuss

I have been looking for someone who would comment this.. pls where can I get the whole series of "a song of ice and fire" to buy? Am really really serious pls reply

My favorites of all times are:
Davinci code by Dan Brown
A thousand splendid suns by Khaled Hussein
3 mistakes of my life by Chatan Bhagat
The Broker by John Grisham
The Firm by John Grisham
The testament by John Grisham
Master of the game by Sidney Sheldon
Stars shine down by Sidney Sheldon
If tomorrow comes by Sidney Sheldon
Lost Symbol by Dan Brown
Beverly Hills dead by Stuart Woods

I see you like John Grisham, i hate that sonofab*tech. I felt like slapping him when I finished The testament, the summons and the innocent man. I felt like I wasted my time.

Only the firm turned out ok. I have "the broker" and "the partner" but am reluctant to read them becos he always disappoints me... even that other book he wrote about an oil company that didn't dispose waste well and ended up causing the town people to have cancer (forgotten the name of the book).. that book made me conclude I really hated John Grisham after the oil company won the case... and I also think he is racist, don't know why

Yes, that's it. Let me call you sweet heart. Great book. The doctor was obsessed with his daughter that he tried recreating her from the women who came to him for cosmetic surgery. Sicko.

Really? You are going to read it again? How do you do that? I can't get myself to read a book I have read before. But since it's been a while, that's understandable.

I thought as much. Erm, I can't say for sure where you can get those books. Nigeria is a big country. I reside in Lagos, but there are various book stores scattered around the country and you could just walk into any of them and ask. Or better still, buy them online and have it delivered to you.
But I don't read books in hard copy anymore. I just download them as pdf files for free online and read them on my computer. It's a lot easier that way. And I enjoy reading books in soft copy.

But still, I love the concept of storing up books in a physical library, like you do.

I just did a quick google search for the 5 books and I found lots of download links for ebook files. You can try that as well.

I have read just 3 and have been seriously looking for the others. I would be MUST GRATEFUL if you can gift me with the others wink

Tanchu

Bya the way, you are right. Terry is dope.
Sorry I'm just replying now.

My other account was placed on ban hence the delay.

Actually, I have all the books (17 in number I think) in the Sword of Truth series before with the exemption of The First Confessor: The Legend of Magda Searus and The Third Kingdom. But sadly, I lost all of them all at once recently.

The SD card I downloaded them to got corrupted and as a result was damaged rendering them useless together with other valuable files I had stored up.

Now I have to source them again. You could easily acquire them from the internet just the way I intend doing that.

If you know how to navigate your way through the cyberworld you could get your hand on almost anything you want that is within its reach, provided you search for it specifically & precisely. That can be done by simply googling the title along the author's name and adding .whatever ebook format you prefer at the closure, e.g "Terry Goodkind - Temple of The Winds ebook.epub" or "Download Dan Brown - Inferno.epub" e.t.c. It's as easy as that.

And I prefer reading e-books in epub format because it's a lot easier to read. It is divided in chapters. That means you can go on to start reading just from any of the chapters. You can change the fonts and colours to beautiful ones or whatnot. You can also switch swiftly from nightmode to day.

There was this epub website I downloaded almost 13 of the sword of Truth e-book series from, there are many books of other prominent authors there, although I have forgotten it but I could reacquire it were I to conduct a proper search , I hope.

seriously ?
I bet you read only the first book in the series. I've read 9 out of 12 and i must say that the books are dry. The first one was good but after that the series went downhil

Well, it's expected that people will always have different opinions on various issues in life.

The book may be boring to you, but to me it's just about almost the best book I have been lucky to glance at.

I'm guessing why you found it boredom inducing was because of a number of explanations. Maybe because it's quite lenthy to you, not to me though, or because of the way Goodkind stretches his suspense mechanism nearly beyond endurance.

I won't lie, I almost gave up on continuing the journey of the Sword of Truth at certain times. One of such times was during when I was reading The Pillars Of Creation. This particular book's theme was centered on two similar characters referred to as the holes in the world. They are pristinely ungifted. They weren't born with any trace of the gift so they are blind to magic in much the way people who have the ability to conjure magic are blind to them. Magic does not affect them. They covered a large volume of the book.

Believe me, I wanted to delete it when I kept going, after chapter to chapter, yet no mention of other key characters but I kept pushing forward, ever onward with a strained persistence and thankfully I wasn't disappointed at the end.

C'mon. Please this book is too unique a piece to discount on ideas based on flimsly excuses, or a short-coming on your part that made you unable to keep up.

It contains remarkably brilliant quotes that had ever graced a book. Those quotes are forever etched in my memory. I don't even consider it as a work that deals with a particular genre. Even so, it contains some elements of other genres of literary works if you piece the puzzle.

Above all, It's objective nature melted my heart.

my dear the size of the books has nothing to do with it.
do you know the feeling when you are watching a TV series (seasonal movies) and there's just too many filler episodes while the main story is being backstaged?
thats the feeling I got from the books.
the last book in the series I read was confessor. I skipped like 2 other ones before I read it because the author was just beating around the bush alot. and the worst part is that after skipping two books I didn't miss much. I heard there are new books in the series. have you read them?

The book is more than just an ordinary text or novel. It's a book that aims to create a lasting story in the minds of people. A book that strives to touch various aspects of life, things that are being neglected and how its principles can be utilised in dealing with everyday struggles.

Those 'fillers' are what makes it an interesting read entirely. You don't just excpect the writer to rush the details and hastily get to the "important areas" without first making your mind wander off in wonder.

No part of a book is unimportant, especially a knowledgeable one. The unnecessary parts according to you, are what will spare you the moment to keenly anticipate the unknown, as your heart beats fastly.

That brief pause prepares you for the climax. Makes it all the more intriguing.

You cannot compare Movies to books - it is unworkable and ridiculous.

The last book of the series I know of is Warheart, which was released late last year.
