Since your have deferred till spring, I will suggest that you contact your school to send you an updated I-20 and by September ending or October you can apply for your visa interview and you can still leave Nigeria to US in January 2017

I already did, thanks. They promised to send an updated I-20.

I guess the POE is ATL.

No it wasn't. Meat is generally not allowed irrespective of the POE.

To those coming to the US soon:

If you would have enough space in your luggage (be mindful of the weight. Every airline has specific maximum) , pending the time you would have to visit any African store here, you could arrange for some food stuff like garri, egusi, ogbonno, dry fish, dry vegetables. Get them in ziplocks or plastic bags, clearly labelled. That would last you for a considerable period before eating burger grin

P.S. Palm Oil (Epo pupa) is not allowed. It won't even pass MMIA.

Ask google tongue

you for all person should know it will be on google

- Get a letter from your department verifying you are graduating
- Make copies of your I-20 form, I-94 form and visa page from your passport.
- if you are on assistantship, get a letter from the department stating that you are supported by the department.
- Write an invitation letter
- You or your parents bank statement
- Optional – proof of address
This is not what Google does,
He cant on his own invite his parents, it's the Intl office that drafts the letter and address it to whom it may concern at the home country embassy.

Your blood too dey pump. Madam chill a little. Don't run faster than your shadow. Like I said, which letter do I need to invite and not documents to take to the embassy- this time read slowly. Secondly, my school do not give out invitations. Like the VO succinctly describe that I do not even need n invitation letter. That was exactly what I wanted to confirm.
When my friend was graduating last month, the Intl office drafted a letter signed by the Intl student coordinator and was addressed to the embassy with their passport number and name on it.
Go talk to your school Intl student office

I had to join Nairaland to post my transcript because I've been reading everything from part 2 and the amount of confidence I gained from reading and analyzing transcripts really helped me with my interview.
My interview was this morning. 9am appointment at Abuja consulate. My visa was approved and no documents were asked. The interview was quite short.

VO: Please come forward ma'am. I like your dress.
Me: *smiles* Thank you
VO: So you're going to UConn?
Me: That's correct
VO: What do you want to be in the future?
Me: I want to be a health management consultant. I understand that majority of the problems we face in our health sector in Nigeria is as a result of poor management...
VO: *cuts me off* Who's paying for this?
Me: My father
VO: What does he do?
Me: He's a recently retired manager in Bleep oil company, but he's on monthly pension which is the same as his salary.
VO: What oil company again?
Me: Bleep oil company
VO: Okay so do you have any siblings currently studying in the US
Me: *pauses for a second* Yes, I have a sister who's on F-1
VO: What exactly does she do right now?
Me: She's on OPT, working with Bleep
VO: Ma'am your visa has been approved. You'll need this to pick your passport.

Thank you guys so much and keep up the amazing work. smiley
