It is a very hard decision to take. I have been fighting myself from January till this moment over relocating from Lagos to Oyo state. Though not permanent, for a business. The fear unknown has got me so confused. It seems I gat to leave because I'm getting bored of my present job. It's somehow funny that I have to pray for a sign if I should leave. Still waiting for the signgrin

Lagos is a glorified slum, dirty & smelly. Flood almost everywhere, you might get to the lifestyle but consider the manhour spent in traffic and waking up early like 4am if you are far from Island where most of jobs seems to resides.

If your coming is to make money them you can sacrifice good life elsewhere but if to think of just changing location then stay put in PHC.

Be careful what you wish yourself.

Lagos is HARSHER economically by far than PH, so don't bother to move because it is more like moving from cat's den to lions den. PH is ok at least you can trek from Waterlines to Agip or from mile-1 to Town, everywhere almost close to each other, but there is no trekkable distance in Lagos, everywhere is just far from each other particularly a beginner like you, you will smell pepper.

Be careful my brother, stay where you know already than venturing into an unknown with JUST matchet and stick.

#Be sure of what you wish yourself!

LOL so you can trek from stadium to choba ba? Hehe oga mi

its obvious u just want to taste the life in Lagos. Not necessarily because u want a better life. If u want a change of environment take days off work or weeks travel out to Lagos and other places enjoy urself and move back to your city ph. But if u just want to get away from family for a while choose another state but not Lagos.

It depends on what you are doing and what you want to become in life. If you are a salary earner and have no intentions of venturing into business, pls remain in phc. But if you are a risk taker and wants to be a business mogul, choose Lagos. If u are a musician/actor/upcoming artist, choose Lagos. Below is a guideline:
1) musician- Lagos
2) militant- phc
3)blogger-Lagos
4) oil bunkering- Phc
5)importer/exporter-Lagos
6)job applicant- Lagos
7)banker-phc....lagos will makeu leave your house 4am and return by 10pm everyday
cool add yours

Lagos is a nice place too.. But ehnnnnn me that is used to port Harcourt life.. I don't see myself in a place like Lagos.
But Op once in a while we need to leave our comfort zone.. If you feel you can make it in Lagos.. Go ahead.. At least I know my dad left ph and he has made it now in Lagos.

Just don't go unprepared. Have a plan and when you get there focus on your goal. If you see yourself not making it just come back to your family in Port Harcourt.

So what you are saying in essence is that, everybody staying in Lagos are millionaires and billionaires right?

Oga, you better remain in PH at least your family members are there. Lagos is tough I mean TOUGH. It's for people with large heart. You don't need to travel from your state to another or out of the country before you can make it in life. All you need to make it is within you. Even me wey dey hia dey find as I go relocate to Kogi or kwara because that place is less expensive and cool. I served there i.e Kogi and you can start a cool business there without anybody harassing you. Electricity is 100%.

Please find the reasons below why you should remain with your family in PH:

i, So many graduates in Lagos are unemployed,
ii, You can't do private business here in Lagos without hiring an office otherwise kick against indiscipline(KAI) will arrest and drag you to court,
iii, Cost of leaving is too high here not to talk of hiring an office,
iv, Electricity is zero and
v, Traffic jam everywhere in Lagos.

KAI people work from 7am to 10pm daily to ensure no selling outside your shop, no crossing expressway without taking the pedestrian bridge etc.

Think about it and thank me later.

regards.

chyna

The bold section above just contradicted everything you said before and after.

If you have summised that, all he needs to make it is within him(which is true), I was thinking that, his mere desire to relocate to Lagos would have gotten an overwhelming endorsement from you, since his success is not tied to his geographical location or environment.

I personally believe that, we should follow how heart and do what makes us happy. Also, as much as the presence of family support is helpful, we should know that, it has it's disadvantages and tend to make us to soften our drives....

If am climbing a challenging mountain and am so tired and exhausted, but know that, there is a soft and comfy cushion waiting for me, if I just let go of my dreams to make it to the top and fall down, the temptations to let go will be greater and I will be more susceptible to give up, compare to when I know that such support is not available or very far away.

PHC? I don't think I wanna raise a family in that climes because of their aggressive and violent nature. Just dissed an employment in one of their Engrg company a few days ago. Maybe more money can lure me sha. But, I hate the fact that in PHC:
(1) Cultism has become a normal phenomenon.
(2) Killings have become a norm.
(3) The fear of find urself in Aluu, Ahoada, Etche is one dt one needs to access fully.
(4) A typical indigene of PHC has too Mich of sense of entitlements and that always breeds hatred for anyone that is progressing.

All in all, Lagos is more stressful, more tedious and such stuffs than PHC, but its cost of living is lesser, accommodation slightly cheaper, security better, the people more friendlier and there are more jobs than PHC.

But, I will cherish even more settling down in the sane city of Ibadan which is more saner than both Lag and Port for me.

OK...Issues to Carefully consider before coming to lagos. Dear friend, I reside in lagos in the mainland and I must tell you that life aren't easy for the poor atall. I want you to check these: 1. Do u have a job u will be coming to do in lagos if No, Boost u Bank account before coming, With a Reasonabl amount of Money u can enter big markets li d Lagos island market and start up something. And I assure u, u will make it. 2. Where do u intend living in lagos. In the mainland or island, all of these depends on ur pocket. If u are having a good money, Friend, Live in the Island, Beautiful environment,Beautiful pple and a easy way to go to d lagos island market also on d island. 3. If u want to live in the mainland stay at festac/Apapa. If u stay in Olodi apapa/Ajegunle. With little income u can survive and wen things get better u can relocate. For fun, Lagos Is Wow, all the life is in dis city. Stay out of trouble,Obey the rules, don't fight the street touts, use leniency on dem and open ur eyes, dont d JJC(jolly jst come) a slang for new comers. Be careful of scammers dat will come with I have laptops to sale, bla bla, and any other form of scam. I wish u the best.

The noise is hellish
The traffic is crazy
The people are ruthless
Every day life is tough and being jobless here is death. You can come and be lucky but trust me you don't wanna base ur trip on luck.

And oh, everybody in Lagos is crazy except me. I mean that literally.

@OP, Lagos be like away on two points

1. No body send you or your papa. No sympathy no empathy, you are strictly on your own
2. The person that houses you upon arrival, for no reason will start insinuating you should find your own accommodation within a few days. I no sabi whether dem take am do them

If you want to give it a try, please do, but leave your option 2 in PH free and running, in case you have to ship out in a hurry

This is Lagos (Not welcome to Lagos, no body welcomes you)
