Flagrant Abuse Of The Constitution, Pres Buhari Is A Candidate For Impeachment. by OLADD: 1:53pm On Jun 29, 2016 |
There's this generally acknowledged Maxim; the law is made for man and not man for the law. If this is absolute truism, we can also conveniently agree with the common saying that " no man is above the law" Section 14(3) of 1999 Constitution of Nigeria as amended goes thus: " The composition of the Government of the Federation or any of its agencies and the conduct of its affairs shall be carried out in such a manner as to effect the Federal Character of Nigeria and the need to promote national unity, and also command national loyalty thereby ensuring that there shall be no predominance of persons from a few States or from a few ethnic or other sectional groups in that Government or in any of its agencies" These are the letters of the laws that guide our collective resolve to live as a united nation but from available facts and figures, President Buhari has not only trampled on our constitution, he has sown a seed of discord which, if care is not taken, may germinate to produce harvests of disunity and disenchantment. In the early stage of Buhari's administration when tongues began to wag about his seemingly sectional appointments, one could remember how Femi Adeshina came out vociferously to play down such postulation. According to him, it was too early in the day to draw such damning conclusion citing the fact that only a few of appointments had been made. Twelve months down the lane, the drum is sounding louder and only Femi Adeshina and Buhari's aides would feign deafness to its rhythm. How do we explain a situation where the SGF, Chief of Staff, the NSA, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Air Staff, the Acting IGP, the Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Comptroller General of Customs, Comptroller General of Immigration. the Director General of the DSS-all coming from a section of the country? Who amongst Buhari's apologists and praise-singers would be bold enough to waive these aberations aside as mere happenstance? For a president that rode to power on the toga of integrity and uprightness to make a mockery of a prominent part of the Constitution under the guise of meritocracy and loyalty, this should attract resounding condemnations from those who truly love Nigeria and the preservation of its sovereignty and egalitarianism. If this abnormality is allowed to fester, Nigeria may tilt toward a point of no return. 2 Likes |

What an irony. Buhari is the greatest threat to Nigerian unity since the civil war. All the nation building, the Pan- Nigerianism stitched together over the past 16 years has been shredded in just the past 1 year. Buhari appears as someone who is so angry at the mere thought of a truly United Nigeria. With great haste, he is dismantling every thread of national unity and cohesion. Buhari , like an army of occupation, treats Nigeria and Nigerians like the booties of war, with great disdain. 3 Likes 1 Share |

The 5%ers played themselves into political irrelevance. The SW and even SS are well represented in this government including among the service chiefs. This is a fact that can be backed with concrete proof. |
