Hi, let me salute you first for your academic excellence (First Class). Kudos!!! For me, based on little experience and comments from others, US is the preferred destination. What course are you gunning for?
Thank you bro for ur swift response . Food science and technology

Am in the Engineering field so don't know much about your course and schools u can apply to but you can check usnews.com, princetonreview.com and some other sites to get info about your course and potential schools. Others here can also suggest schools u can apply to. I believe u can get full funding. Just keeping pressing on and success will be yours.

This is where you must do some work.
Find schools that teach your Ph.D (we don't know what it is.)
Apply for a place and ask about scholarship.
Only the schools can answer you with facts depending on all the circumstances of your case.
MrMann1:

As a student, you will need medical insurance, do your medical insurance over there in the states and do the necessary immunizations required by your school with your medical insurance.
biikeys:

My advice is always to search for apartments, have a shortlist and get possible move-in dates...get here and stay in a motel or some place else affordable and safe for a few nights, check out those apartments and move in!
Meanwhile, some schools have free temporary accommodation provisions for international students..so you might want to contact your school international office for students organizations that might be into that.
Amen. Thank you for those encouraging words. Great men in the house, please come to my aid ooo

Hello everyone , please I need your advice or opinion about this. I'm a graduate of computer science and engineering (engr major) from a Nigerian university..and I want to come down to America to work and study...someone advice me to apply for a tourist/ visit visa and when I get to America I will change my status and apply to a school for my masters..he said its cheaper and economical that way..But I know visit visa don't get work permit..My question is
1..Can I work with a visit visa??
2..can I go to school with a visit visa
3..is it possible to change my status from visit to another one...
NB : my mom is a us resident and will become a permanent citizen next year and can easily file for me....

Sorry, she can't easily file for you if you are not a minor...Filing for an adult offspring takes about 10years. Coming here with tourist and the hope to work is the deadliest risk ever but you go survive am if u get strength to persevere lol and changing tourist to F1 is another whole struggle. My 2cents for ya: Come in with F1, use your mom's link to do under table during hols or just wait till she becomes a full citizen then you can come visit and then

Hello house! sad

Actually, I just got admitted to study at the masters level in Oregon come fall; I have also gotten my visa. My plan is to jet out by August 17, first, to visit New Jersey (I've booked my ticket to Newark already), spend few days with my uncle and then book a flight report to school.

The issue now is the Port of Entry palava, as I'm scared the officers might be concerned about me not having a ticket to Oregon... Although my port of entry would be Boston, cos that's where Emirates would drop me before connecting with a local flight to NJ; I want to know the house views on this risky waka of mine and also learn from others experiences.

Is it also true they'll know I'm going to NJ without asking me?

Please help ! Thanks.....

No issues. As long as you report to school by the school deadline, you can go anywhere first. No one will prevent you from seeing family before going to school.

Thanks! But have you had anyone do that before? I wouldn't mind knowing their POE questions and experiences.

Several. Some people buy their transit tickets when they land in the USA. There's nothing that says you must have a flight straight to school. Some people even choose to use Greyhound bus. All the POE officer cares about is that you are going to school. How you get to your final destination is not their problem

hello..i would advice if Nigerians concentrate on applying to schools owned by African americans(Black americans)
There are much opportunities fovourable to blacks there.
check diz school..Vorhees college in Denmark SC.
The first installmental payment of tuition,on-campus housing feeding is 3,345...
I got my SSN in diz school with ease.
