I barely remember this one, but I know it was very interesting

Naaaaaaa. This story wasn't about a mother-in-law vs daughter-in-law o, this was about a woman who was difficult to please and her husband with the man's former babe.

Lol gagool the scraggly pseudo-immortal cheesy I had dreams about finding my own stash of forgotten diamonds back then too

Lolz,

the point where that evil woman killed the poor maid and made away with the bag of diamond really crushed me. The party seems lost, my world was drowning with them.

But thank God for the fact that my hero was aware of his environment: there must be a way out if air is coming in to the dark cave from somewhere, after gagool shut the cave's stone door against them.

he lit the last matches with him and studied the directions of the wind. That was their saving grace. They shared the precious stones and were happy ever after.

I hope you read Ivanhoe, by the same author, i identify him as Allan Quartermain. It might be a title ooo.

It is WizKid and baddo that these children are reading.

O MY GOD! O MY GOD! You will die of laughter if you read this book. I'm not just saying it. You will actually die of laughter if you read it. This novel is totally hilarious.

Somebody stole my copy of the book, but I must buy another one soon.

The Interpreters by Wole Soyinka.

Funny but complicated..too difficult to comprehend.

Yeah I remember this one. The twins were separated at birth over Mina's father's refusal to allow poor Richard marry his daughter.

Great work, Ishilove. Well done! However, it was Mina's mother who objected.

Yeah Govt College Umuahia was a great school with Erudite scholars and Academic giants, even China Achebe stated it in his book,'There was a country'

My sister,Umuahians are a special breed and in a class of their own. That name practically opens doors.
The average Umuahian succeeds naturally.
There's something supernatural about that school.

You are very wrong, that book... after I finished reading it I had thick lump on my chest, you know that feeling you have when you want to cry but just cant justify your tears because people will ask why you are crying, that was the way I felt after reading that book, they should have changed the title to prepare us for its content, because the title is the very opposite of its content, Buchi did well with that book! It drives home the point that we should not forget our parents, especially our mothers in our pursuit of whatever.

I've got soft copies of Things Fall Apart and No longer At Ease by Achebe, The Famished Road (Ben Okri) and I'm willing to share. Hard copies of The Passport of Mallam Ilia, The New Man, Toads for Supper, The Concubine... I don't know how that can be shared smiley

I guess this thread can be an avenue where lovers of classics can share with one another.

We should not forget our parents, especially our mothers in giving them a befitting burial right

Because, in the book right from her childhood, the woman never tasted real happiness, the little she would have always ended up in sorrows....

There was never a period of arrived rest/peace/happiness/joy for her...right to her grave.
So, where is the assumed point that you opined about us not forgetting our parents

My point is, if there were to be a time of happiness and joy for her...to compensate for her tragedies...the writer should have made it possible, not in her death.

The bottom line is that We should not forget our parents/mothers in our pursuit of whatever while they are still breathing... not when they die.

stop feeling special, it was a compulsiry literature text for literature students one time

Does my comment depict any sense of specialism? ??
My assertion is based on the lackadaisical attitude of students towards reading literature regardless of whether it was compulsory or not.

Learn to be polite and avoid tendering rambling invective irrationally.

This took me down memory lane. Wow!!

I also remember another one written by Cyprian, about an old man struck with a spell of the wandering disease. Each time someone mentions Sokugo, the old man loses his senses and starts wandering upandan distant lands. I have forgotten the name but the plot has stayed with me all these years.

It's "The Burning Grass''.
