Jaundiced thinking. It is the citizens that build their countries not the government. It is the people that fund their government, pay their salaries, build their infrastructure and develop their economy. Government merely organises these activities in the light of common interests. That is how the people can take control. For he who pays the piper dictates the tune. The government dictates the tune today because the people donot pay for a 'ccontrolling stake' in their country.

What the people should do now is to demand for a controlling share of the country's resources so they can pay to dictate the tune. Privatisation, resource control, education, self determination, are some of the tools which the people should demand. So what is happening is the future and we should thank the peoples of the Niger Delta forforcing these important reforms to our national psyche. It is them that are the true agents of change and in years to come folks will behin to understand why I said Goodluck Jonathan remaims the best President Nigeria ever had. Because all the things happening now were predicted and now the process must not be scuttled.
Must you insult to make valid your point, as much as I wld have loved to applaud your critical thinking, your vugal manner of approach is beclouding that.Made incredibly brainy points tho, cnt take that from you but you cld done that without any form of insult

Before we start rejoicing over 500bn June allocation, the question should really be how much is US dollars was accrued compared to previous months.
This sum might just be as a result of the devalued Naira that makes the money look so big.

Simple math : $2bn converted at the rate of N197/$ in the previous months would give N394 billion, while the same $2bn in June after devaluation of Naira to N285/$ will give N570bn.

In simple terms, they just shared an inflation-induced 'increase' in allocations. By the time you take that same money to the market, you'll face the reality.

My Brother oil and gas is 95% of our exports that is Oil and gas generates 95% of our dollar revenue and attracts the highest Foreign Direct Investment, and Gas powers 80% of electricity generation, Follow the dollar not the naira

Why does this govt loves lying ?
If 70% is from non oil , how come Rivers,Bayrlsa , Akwaibom and Delta all got more than Lagos and Kano? What Non oil did these produce to earn so much when we know that if it is non oil , Kano and Lagos would have earn more
Truth is the devaluation of naira is what made them earn more and also removal of petrol subsidy . Period
Stop all these lies

How? You don old pass this falsehood Pa C.

When did the scavengers start their drama? This year! When did Tompolo go into hiding? This year.

Weren't states owing salary long before then? Since last year!

Non payment of salary is purely about low oil prices.... Nothing else attached..

However whatever magic happened in June, God will sustain it, hatred does not fill stomachs... hate Buhari to your heart's delight but never lose sight of the fact that old pensioners are dying... cool

No magic happened in June. June is the deadline for filing and payment(of first instalment) of Companies Income Tax. This has always been the case. Maybe the fear of Fowler made more companies comply with the June deadline, but June has always been the deadline for first instalment.

What a confused government that thrives on lies and propaganda! How many people are paying tax in this reccession when businesses are closing down and sacking people? Tommorow, the finance minister or cbn governor will say another thing. They should continue playing with the lives and destiny of 180 million people, many of whom are on the verge of starvation!!!!

How can a bloody Nigerian can Niger Deltans LAZY? Niger Delta produce 100% of Nigeria Oil and gas which is 95% of our exports and supplies gas that powers 80% of electricity generation what are U saying , as far as the economy is concerned Niger Delta is the only productive region in Nigeria the rest is Negligible,

Re: 70% Of June Allocation From Non-oil Sector – FIRS Chairman Tunde Fowler by QuotaSystem: 10:46am On Jul 26, 2016
Yes they're the laziest because they do nothing but sit and wait for stipends from government and oil companies. What work did they do to produce the oil? Is it not other Nigerians like Otedola, Dangote, Rahamaniyya, Capital oil etc that are active in the industry? I hope you're aware that according to the Land Use Act every drop of oil belongs to the FG of Nigeria and not any lazy group of people born above her delta region.

Niger Delta produces oil. Niger Deltans produce NADA. Laziness is an understatement, even their Governor could not deny the fact.

Fg/States are only trying to increase their own pocket through tax which does not reflex in the life of the citizens/tax payers, believe that over 70% came from non oil sector at your own peril (lies).

I agree. I'm a tax professional. FIRS officers came to companies office and practically escorted them to bank to pay CIT in the last weeks of June. But my point is, it is statutory to pay in June.

The same way you people told us oil accounts for only 13% of the budget yet simply because of the oil attacks by the NDA 27 states cannot pay salaries snd the FG is broke.Oya continue Mr Linus

Were all of them able to pay salaries even during the oil boom? The things have gone worse to the extent that your Ineffectual Buffon and your glorious paper economist has even borrowed to pay FG workers. Click here to read what Iweala said even before GEJ vacated office.

No magic madam. The dude just stated taxes were filed and payments made in June. If there was any magic it was as a result of 'floating' the dollar and naira devaluation. And of cos savings from non payment of fuel subsidies.
Although some progress is being made which is a good sign, but at the same time many companies closed shops and employees lost their jobs. Which invariably reduced IGR. Thing is complete diversification from oil is a long term project, not something we can achieve even in a decade.
Finally, I see the comments from Nigerians and I see so much hatred, especially the quotasystem dude. Dont know the level of his education or what he does for a living and why he hates the Niger delta people so much. But one thing is certain Nigeria would still depend on oil/gas for decades till Elon's Tesla and other scientists come up with better alternatives to man's energy needs.

Good one Mr Fowler FIRS.
But i want to remind you that TAX PAYER's money is meant for the
Provisions of Social Amenities like Water, building Schools, good Roads, Electricity, Good Health centres, etc.
And not for paying salaries, sharing, or otherwise. If you continue this way, Naija will be better,..
Thank you.

Sir, paying salaries is not the only component in a budget. There are other component like debt management and infrastructure both already started and new one. I will encourage you acknowledge good move when you see one.
