Greetings to all the Doc and fellow aspirant in the house. Please i've got a few question about something that got my attention lately.

1. What are the causes of scrotal swelling i.e a kind of lumb in the scrotum.
2. Is there lymph node in the scrotum
3. Can this be treated pharmaceutically?
4. Is this condition prevalence in a specific age group?
5. For surgery, is it excisional where the lumb will be removed or things will be puked back into position like a correctional surgery?.
6. Is this a medical emergency, and after surgery what is the time frame of recovery.

Please pardon if my question seems naive.

well a scrotal swelling could be due to inguinal hernia particularly indirect inguinal hernia which is commoner among younger age group and in children. A hydrocoele ie fluid accumulation within the tunica vaginalis of the scrotum can also cause scrotal swelling. Management of hernia will depend on its presentation and d age group , if the hernia is reducible , then the doctor just reduces it though it can reoccur, but surgical management of hernia can depend on the age group, hernioplasty in which u use a mesh to reinforce d posterior wall of d inguinal canal is done in elderly patients , herniorraphy in which u repair d posterior wall of the inguinal canal is commonly done in young adults whereas in paediatric patients, a division of the hernial sac is done referred to as herniotomy. For hydrocoele , if massive , a surgical procedure called hydrocoelectomy is done . It becomes a medical emergency if d hernia becomes strangulated where patient may present with pain, and other symptoms of intestinal obstruction eg vomiting, distension, constipation. Also strangulation of the hernia can result in ischaemic damage of d distal bowel and can cause bacterial overgrowth and consequent sepsis. Hope dis helped ,

Thanks for your response.
But lastly, any known risk during surgical operation and what is the expected of recovery for a patient herniorraphy has been carried on

For d risks , just like any other surgery, excessive haemorrhage could occur , so also intestinal perforation from surgical equipment but I think in all, with a good surgeon , d risks will be minimal. Most patients generally recover fully well provided there are no surgical complications and preexisting systemic diseases like diabetes mellitus which might delay wound healing

Good evening everyone.

Straight to the point. In all my years of med school, I must say this is the only place I've both been appreciated for my efforts into ensuring we all succeed. One would assume that the medical students in my school would be primary beneficiaries, but that's story for another day.

Some weeks ago, I discovered some textbooks in Internal Medicine and Surgery that will certainly make your journey in Clinicals very easy. They're very straight to the point and contain relevant details that will be required of you. This would be the only place I will give those books to anyone.

Send me a pm using your mail to request for them, and I'll forward it to those interested.

Please kindly send it to my mail: justicedynamic@yahoo.com

Interesting! In ABU zaria, introduction to clinical courses starts in 300l 2nd semester.

Amazing! In UI, Ibadan, we finish anatomy, physiology and biochemistry in 200L
Start integrated posting in 300L( preclinical stuffs and their clinical applications)
Write part 1 MB in 300L 1st semester

Start clinicals in 300L 2nd semester

That is the new curriculum

In Bowen university, they finish anatomy, physiology and biochemistry in 300l. Then there's 400l intercalated( they pick either of physiology or anatomy or biochemistry to finish like normal Bsc students. They do their project work and get a degree in whichever they pick). Then 400l Mbbs when they start immunology, microbiology, pathology...they write their first mb at the end of 400l first semester. Then they move to the teaching hospital in 400l second semester and continue.

When she was 12 years old, Ashley Smith Lane remembers putting on her father’s white coat and walking around his Alabama clinic as though she were a doctor.
Now, at the age of 28 and in her second year of residency, she’s no longer pretending
"Growing up as a doctor’s child, you see the best part of it, and you see the time constraints,” Lane says. “I grew up going to house calls with my dad, going to the ER [emergency room] when he had to admit a patient. It’s definitely a lifestyle that you have to choose."
Lane is the third generation of physicians in her family, following in the footsteps of both her father and grandfather. Through the years, they have witnessed the transformation of healthcare firsthand, along with the advent of new technology and changes in private practice.
Her grandfather, George Smith Sr., MD, began his career as a pharmaceutical representative, where he says he gradually found his calling to pursue medicine. He began practicing on July 1, 1966, a day that dramatically changed healthcare when Medicare became available.
His son, George Smith Jr., MD, says he respected his father’s job from an early age.
“I used to carry [my father’s] bag on house calls when I was a little boy,” he says. “A lot of patients.......http://www.eaglelike.com/2016/08/when-practicing-medicine-runs-in-family.html
