Just because there are Igbo speaking peoples in Rivers does not make it Igboland. For your information, there are indigenous Yoruba speaking peoples in Edo and Delta, but that does not make Edo and Delta Yorubaland.

Who are the indigenous Yoruba-speaking people of Delta, and what communities/LGAs do they occupy/own?

Itsekiri people, over one million in Delta state.

They are dominant in Warrri.

They are also in Lagos, Ogun, Ondo and Edo.

So then the two instances of a 'Yoruba' speaking people (Itsekiri is a seperate language, but let's just go with it) in Delta State not making a part of Delta Yorubaland and Anioma which makes up the entire north of Delta State which is defined by being Igbo, cannot be compared because the Itsekiri for the most part do not identify as Yoruba, but the Anioma for the most part do identify as Igbo, especially around Asaba. So over 30% of Delta State is Igboland, unless rlauncher was referring to another group other than the Itsekiri.

Who told you Itsekiri don't indentify with Yoruba.

It was the same Yorubas that promoted Olu of Itaekiri to Olu of Warri in 1951.

Itsekiri, Ijebus, Awori, Egun are all sub groups of the Yorubas.

There is no evidence Itsekiri people identify as Yoruba, what consequence is the appointment of Olu of Warri, it's like saying Warri is a Yoruba city.

Guy stop this bul*shit; it's becoming stale and very childish.
This kind of thread has been rehashed on this forum many times.
Even people who have the highest oil deposits have not really enjoyed for one day - many of those states owe their staff salaries or allowances of many months, and those states are just average in terms of development compared to other non oil-producing states, and you're here throwing tantrums.
If you like, deny the whole ethnic Igbos of their ehnicity, when it gets down to what really matters, everyone knows where he or she belongs and other tribes know who you are no matter how much you try to scream otherwise.

Don't mind the idiot. Most of them have never been to Rivers State, and thus do not understand that Rivers State is made up different ethnic group. But this issue exposes the average mindset of the Nigerian youth, especially from the West Side, their mania with oil is irredeemable. Its so pathetic.

Sir, Itsekiris are members of Afenifere.
Olu of Warri attends the meeting of Afenifere every now and then.

You are getting it all wrong. We the Southwesterners produce double and more of the oil produced by the Southeast and we are not shouting "OUR OYEL". THE QUESTION is ,how come the people producing the least are the ones shouting " OUR OYEL".

Now that you have such facts, you realise why the needy Igbos use the term "we SE and SS".

They need the SS as they cannot stand alone. They even need the SS to have any chance of secession from Nigeria even if it was given on a platter.

As far as I'm concerned, the SS can even break away from Nigeria and have the present SE as one of its regions. One is a parasite, while the other will dictate the terms of the needy relationship.

Yes, Igbo land starts and ends in Southeast. No single ethnic group can lay claim to a state that is home and indigenous to so many ethnic group.

I can't even imagine how there will be no war between the SE and SS should the SS make the mistake of going away with the SE as the later would want to dominate the former, thereby creating another Southern Sudan scenario.

SS people don't get me wrong. I support true Federalism and Resource Control. 60% State, 40% Federal.

The good thing is the SS already know who they are dealing with here.

They already know that Igbos suffering from the ipobic plague have claimed that it is Imo state oil that was channeled to Rivers state and the SS using pipelines installed in the night by the Federal government that hates Igbos.

They know were to put the Igbos in a future shared country. The Igbos too will have to accept anything offered as a needy begger has no choice. At least they would have broken away from Nigeria and the wicked Yorubas who caused all their misfortune.

Southwesterners do not want a united Nigeria because of oil. We want a United country because of vision- vision of a great, strong and united country respected all over the world. We believe very strongly in the future of Nigeria our dear country.

Even the South-south people don't really hate Nigeria. They just wanted to be treated right. I believe we will one day achieve the desired true fiscal federalism, but definitely not under the presidency of a northerner. Buhari was just brought in to put a halt to the financial profligacy going on under the Jonathan Administration. He may not be able to secure a second term if he continues to turning deaf hears to the cry of Nigerians for restructuring.

Nigeria came into being not on the basis of oil and will not be destroyed because of oil. cool

What you think about the itsekiri people does not amount to anything. Every people group in Nigeria know who they are.

I also want to reiterate it here; no single ethnic group can lay claim to a state that is indigenous to so many ethnic groups.
