what killed these officials was simply sheer negligence, they drowned not because the boat capsized. they drowned because they couldn't swim and didn't have a life jacket as support.
sometimes not all the deaths are fate or destiny as people are force to think, some of them are caused by our own choices.

Secondly, the workers should have been trained on basic swimming and be made to pass regular swimming test.

This tragedy would have been averted if safety rules where observed.

Any organization big or small whose personnel is working in the marine environment must make sure their staff are well trained in basic safety procedure which in this circumstances is swimming.

Also how sea worthy or river worthy is their boat for such a trip?

It is an unnecessary risk all this official took to go to the waterway without having first hand experience about the marine environment.

That's not even suprising as long as its naija! I'm sure even the budget for the provision of life jackets even for the staff working at the dam is in one idiots bank account! And who has been held responsible? No one......



Even my close friend "muheez bello" lost his life during the last local government elections in 2014 in epe local government in lagos! He was going to cast his vote and was in line to win the election! Even the fishermans and obas sons died because they had no life jackets in an overloaded boat!
