To the regular travellers on this thread. Mrsdaniels, mrsf, umarwy and co. Pls help out with this question. Its my first time of flying tho. My school where I got the scholarship already booked my ticket and I was told I could either check in online or at the airport.
I decided to check in online (Emirates), so I've selected my seats already. I saw it on my e ticket that I will use my ticket number at the self check in point at the airport. I want to ask if there are self check in points at the Lagos airport, or It would be best to just cancel my seat online and check in at the airport. I did the online check in so it can be easier when I get there but as it is now, I don't know if that will work.
Thanks

It's interesting that you didn't see what was wrong with your post. So that we may not derail the thread like I said earlier, I'll let it pass. Could we discuss Tier 4 visas please?

Advising people about when to book for their airline tickets is also inline with the topic and it's appreciated.

I've been able to see it in their FAQs now that online check in is permitted for.the Lagos airports.
But please, is it advisable in your own opinions. Give me naija advice abeg. Tell me which is better.
I think I can still.cancel the seats and check in at the airport if you all say airport check in is better.

I think in the interest of not derailing the thread, we should avoid statements that are uncalled for. We all have diverse opinions on the state of the nation and the causes of our crisis. But in the interest of saneness, we choose not to voice them here because, glaringly, THIS IS THE WRONG PLACE TO DO THAT. This topic is centered on Tier 4 Visa not Buhari or northerners!
I thought of ignoring but on a second thought I just felt I should remind you that seeking attention isn't the best. It doesn't help. So informing members of this thread on the current rate is now termed derailing of the thread. Am sorry to say this,ur point is baseless.

Am not sure of Lagos even though I've seen it on the internet before. I've only checked in my self at Frankfurt, Munich, Doha and London Stanstead. I'm not sure of Lagos, so please don't take chances. Lol. It's just about placing ur bar code on those scanners. Nothing special.

Please Madam nobody is on ur case o. I never called u a dummy either. Just trying to help out so u don't get into trouble. We are together. I was trying to tell you that even though there were lapses in Mrsf's tuition fee cos of exchange rate, the UKVI might just give the kid the visa because they've seen the carer's account and knows there is someone in the UK that can be held responsible for the child's welfare and probably the carer has more than enough in his or her account. This enough can make them give the child entry permit to the United Kingdom. All the best in ur application

MrsDaniels:
Chuksbenin pls i beg u to pls kindly get off my case. Am not a dummy nor blind not to be able to understand or see what @mrsF told me. Be it maintenance or tuition thats kept in an acc. Fact still remains either of the both went through '28days' rule. Pls

Okay. What about taking the tickets there and deciding not to use the self check in but instead joining others for the normal check in? Will it work? I would like to retain those window side seats.

Of course you'll go through all those rigorous checks at MM. especially if you are a first time flyer. Its not something you should worry about. Just be there an hour and half before your departure so you will have enough time. Safe. Please remember to put your laptop or other perishable electronic devices in your back pack.

@chuksbenin am very aware dt hers is just bou her childs tuition, its nt abt anyone been in Uk presently, if dey would raise eyebrow dey would. The VO cant deny such cos obviously she aint in control of the fx market and its fluctuations so far u had the complete money in the acc from the start. Am very aware that applications r based on rate of dt same day. Cc @justwise.

@chuksbenin read this. Lets say i print my bank statement today with rate 420 and i apply on monday and by then the oanda rate is reading 450 to a naira. Would u say i shud top up money that same friday so i can meet up wt d little change effected upon my bank statement? The visa officer wont be crazy enuf to wanna deny cos its not within our power to control the fx market. Thats also my own point am tryna pass to u based on advice @justwise gave lastweek.

Congratulations to those that have received their visas and also those who have receive decision mails. Surely you shall get a positive response.
I think we should shift attention a little bit,cos soon a whole lot of persons will be travelling.
Please how best can one get some pounds or dollars considering the fact that PTAs are kinda difficult and black market isn't an option one bit. Yeah ATM withdrawal is an option but what other options can be used?
Please let's have some contributions that can help.

Online check in and choosing one sit on the plane are two different things entirely

Am also flying Emirates and I have chosen by seats on both of the connecting flights ( near window)

And Emirates said it clearly on their site that online check in is only for those without luggages (with only hand luggage)

So advice you follow the flight itinerary and stick to the time given to you on your ticket

Btw when's your flight? Have you applied/gotten your PTA??

My flight is on 5th. BTW, as it is now, I think in now confused. But you are opening my eyes more. I'm only sure I have confirmed my seats but I'm not sure if I already did the check in. I know I might sound naive. But my question is, with my load now, even if I've done the check in online already but want to get there very early for physical check in I hope it doesn't affect my flight ticket? Cos I already plan on getting there early, I don't wanna take chances. I don't have money to book another one.
As for PTA , I don't even I know how to go about it. All I need is around 200-300 pounds in cash.
I'm on a full scholarship that covers everything, but the school adviced me to bring that along to sustain me for the first 2-3 weeks it will take me to open an account where my stipends will be deposited.

Ok but I really doubt that you have checked in. I don't think it's possible to do so days before the flight date.

And moreover if you have checked in you would have been given a boarding pass (printed)

But if you want to be sure and without doubt, you can always call Emirates CC to inquire more about it and verify everything

Full scholarship is sweet oh.

Which body is sponsoring you?
Which school/course?? RF

That it possible and you will be given an e-boarding pass which will be scanned at the airport. Few days to your traveling date you will be sent an email to check in online then print your boarding pass or have it on your smartphone.

When you get to the airport the airline will scan that and give you another pass that you will go through the security with

What has been sent to me so far has been an e ticket. Though my seat numbers are not there but its still there when I checked their website the way I've selected it when I cliked 'view e tickets'.
So I think I will just leave it like that and print the e ticket from their website and take it to the airport.
I hope that would be fine.

You can check in online. It's very possible but it's not available for all airlines. Be prepared to undergo airport checks too. What you did was just confirm your flight and your seat not check in. Just be there early to check in and get ur boarding pass. Listen well and ask questions when confused. Safe.

This is exactly correct. At some airports in Europe you can print your pass yourself from those machines. I did that in Nurnberg and Munich. Just make sure ur bar code is quite visible.
