Thanks mama. I don't understand why these poor babies have to go through so much pain. I breastfed him immediately after the procedure and he slept off. When he woke, he cried like it was going out of fashion. I felt so helpless, I just kept putting him to breast. Then I gave him baby paracetamol and slathered the peepee with vaseline...eventually the crying tired him out and he slept off

They just don't want to come with terms that things can be done perfectly without pain!

My son was circumcised 18hrs after birth; dey brought him back afta 1hr. No crying, no pain. It was done in the theatre like a normal surgical procedure.

I pray our system comes to term with modern healthcare practises

@ Sixx, you do the PCV at your 20 weeks check up when you do your blood work. Subsequent ones depends on the policy of your hospital.

@XX01,try Astyfer blood tonic,10 mls twice a day. Try to take it religiously and continue with your ugu.repeat the pcv test may be in a different lab after two weeks, you can try Clinix Lab. There should be reasonable improvement .

Thanks Iomoge2, Liftedhands, Besea, Alphahandmaiden and others who chipped in. I redid the test in a lab today and it was 24. Meaning that the 10.4 was not accurate but still 24 is too low. BEcause i am scheduled to have a CS, the doctor told me that if i don't build up my blood i might have to have a blood transfusion.

I was initally on Fesolate which is one a day but it was making me stool so i took it haphardly. Now, i have been placed on another one that should be taken twice a day. I have cut out all other multivitamins and take just the precribed ones in case there is any other medicine that is inhibiting the absorbtion of iron. I am just tired of the whole thing.

I practically live on Ugwu and green okro these days. I will include the Anara leaves. God will give me the strenght to overcome it.

U will overcome it in Jesus name.

Extracting the juice retains most of what cooking will take off the ugu but if you choose to cook steaming is most preferred. Don't mix with milk calcium in milk inhibits the absorption of iron.

Another leaf to consider is Anara( garden egg) leaf! Just wash and chew it's a booster.

Wao... just learning bout calcium n iron.

I used to think vitamin c was d culprit here....

XX01 you can still boost your PCV before your due date just eat lots of garden egg leaf it works faster than ugu! You can also ask your doctor to prescribe Astyfer capsules for you.

I was anaemic during my Preggy and was also billed for a transfusion until I started on the Anara leaf and astyfer combo which gave me a boost from a 24% to 35 in less than a month.

Note Hemoglobin(HB) and haematocrit (PCV)levels are not numberd the same.

Normal range for HB starts from 11.00 any thing lower is considered worrisome for a pregnant woman.

While PCV for a pregnant woman should be from 33% upwards.
It's most likely a HB test was done for you during the follow up and not PCV because for your PCV to get to 10 na kpai be that o.
