Lalastica, Seun and whoever it may concern, for the sake of recession, let's have more of agricultural innovations and investments on the front page.
Enough of all these celebrity nonsense and irrelevant topics taking the front page.

@Op, I refuse to commend you for this if you studied nothing related to Agriculture in school.

But if you do, kudos to you for not being one of the many useless graduates who would study engineering in the University, then later ventutre into agriculture for private business when the country needs them to promote their field...

Don't quote me if you have no reasonable reason to dissent with the above phenomenal.
what are u saying.

Wow! Really impressive. I just started a small snail farm behind my house in Lagos but mortality rate is high. I currently have close to seven hundred snails but would have had closer to a thousand if not for the mortality rate. I really need an experienced snail farmer to physically mentor me in this business.
Wow. Here in lagos! How do you do that? Is it that you have a farm or just there at your residence? And what is the proceedure for a fresh starter? Do include how much capital also. Thanks.

This thread was created to showcase my snail farm as away of encouraging the unemployed youths to explore the golden opportunities that lies within, in other to attain financial freedom without having to remain idle "while waiting on their choice employment". And also, to motivate and unveil to the working class the flexibility in snail farming. Thereby making it a very good way of doubling their sources of income. As it often requires most attention in the evenings/night, minimum startup capital, very low morality rate, good return of investment, etc.

Agriculture remains the only way out, most especially in this present economic reality in Nigeria. This is why, going into the agricultural sector will not only make us self-sufficient but to increase income base.

Checkout my snails.

You are in money o..

How much do you sell each of these giant ones ?

Hi IMASTEX this is great to see, and very admirable.

Kindly permit me to bother you with a few questions:

1. how much would one need to start?

2. what are your operating costs per month?

3. what are the profit margins like?

Snails dont have operating costs.

Vegetable, grasses and waste fruits, humus soil, stones and decaying wood. And water..

Thats their food o. Then you need an enclosed room so they remained confined to space.

WOW @ 6000 giant snails shocked.. This is impressive **thumbs up**

I almost used my dad's spare land for snail farming. I even made plans of traveling to Benin to get the specie I wanted (I heard they are cheaper there).

I just don't know how it happened; I guess the maturity age (6 months - 1 year) discouraged me, and I killed the idea embarassed, though they are stress free.

Well done!!

Travel kee ?

Any wild snail in the bush will give you what you want as stock or just buy giant snails from the market.

Try and look into exporting the large snails to the UK and US. The demand for it by Africans living abroad is very high, the African restaurants charge a lot for it. A single, large, well-peppered fried/grilled African snail can go for as much as £10 per snail. I haven't eaten snails for years.
