Thanks alot for this info. Please how do you go about its housing? As in the basket, what are the things you used to make the platform for the snails in the basket. Please do include the feeds and stuff you give them to eat. Thanks again.

As i said, i have built a snail pen for them to be able to comfortably accommodate the number i have now though i started with a basket to kick the whole thing. I just put some sand(preferably loamy sand) in the basket and put the snails in it. I feed them with peels of pawpaw, water melon, palntain, cabbages, lettuce which i get free from sellers and i also feed them with water leaf occasionally.

Yet some people will come here to insult those that gave them 3k as if it's nothing.

See what you're doing with 1k. God will really bless your hustle.

Madam @tearoses. I know you will like this story. cheesy

In all honesty, it's not a business one can depend on for now. For instance i don't plan to start selling my snails for at least two years when i would have grown the farm exponentially. For someone who is unemployed, he might not have the patience for the farm to mature neither would he have the funds to grow the business. for example it cost me 25k to build their snail pen when the numbers were increasing and i know it will cost me a least 200k to prepare the land(minus cost of the land) that i am going to move the snails to when they start multiplying through birth. Some species of snails can lay up to 500 eggs a year so i know that within a short time i would have to invest more money if i want my snail farm to thrive. But the important lesson is that if i didn't take that first step and spent that one thousand naira i won't have a snail farm today which if well managed could be worth millions in a couple of years. smiley

True at bush but where the bush dey na for PH undecided?

Most of the giant snails in the market have been exposed to sun which dries their moisture and sometimes, reduce their fertility rate.

That's what my course rep is doing. He dries them, and sends to the United States. He is making good money but with this dollar to naira rate, he got affected.

@Sleekyshuga can u link me with your course rep?

You don't need much money to start a snail farm, I started mine with only one thousand naira. I personally caught my first almost two hundred snails that I started my farm with, you can do the same and use the money you have to construct a cage for them.

This thread was created to showcase my snail farm as away of encouraging the unemployed youths to explore the golden opportunities that lies within, in other to attain financial freedom without having to remain idle "while waiting on their choice employment". And also, to motivate and unveil to the working class the flexibility in snail farming. Thereby making it a very good way of doubling their sources of income. As it often requires most attention in the evenings/night, minimum startup capital, very low morality rate, good return of investment, etc.

Agriculture remains the only way out, most especially in this present economic reality in Nigeria. This is why, going into the agricultural sector will not only make us self-sufficient but to increase income base.

Checkout my snails.

How many months will it take an investor to start getting profit?

@Op, I refuse to commend you for this if you studied nothing related to Agriculture in school.

But if you do, kudos to you for not being one of the many useless graduates who would study engineering in the University, then later ventutre into agriculture for private business when the country needs them to promote their field...

Don't quote me if you have no reasonable reason to dissent with the above phenomenal.
Lol. who should you blame in that instance, the graduate or the system? How many engineers have the opportunity of been employed in their field of specialisation?

Wow! sorry about that. the secret of preventing ants starts from the pen construction. Though, I haven't seen the type of pen you have. Well, you can cement it. Send me the pictures on WhatsApp.

pls add to whatsapp group, 08030421056. I'm new to snail farming. I've done intensive research on snails both foreign and local methods. Downloaded every information I can find on the Internet about snail, life style and artificial habitat and climate. I just need real life experiences and challenges from my fellow snail farmers. As I'm yet to complete my free range curtain method pen I'm constructing. tanx
