Good day mama,

Pls what is your view on pacifer? Can I give my Lo of 7weeks pacifer? I intend using it to put her to sleep mostly, as she doesn't fall to sleep unlesd she is on breast or being rock while standing.
I will be returning to work October 1st, I thought my mum might need it to comfort her when she is feed and cared for but still fussy.
Pls mamas what is your experience like? Is it too early to introduce pacifer?

You can give her a pacifier. Some people say some babies that are breastfeeding tend to reject the breast in favour of plastic which is why they are not big on pacifiers or bottles until breastfeeding routine firmly established. This happened to my nephew. My own issue is that when some babies get used to falling asleep with pacifiers, they get so used to it that to later remove it from them becomes a war (that happened to my niece). So it's something you should have at the back of your mind. But yeah, you can give her a pacifier.

Whatever crutch you give to soothe your baby is going to bite you in the bum later. Mine was using my breasts to soothe her to sleep. We only stopped that this month at 15 months because na war. Even carrying to sleep on your chest to soothe becomes a bad idea later. Can you try letting her go to sleep with maybe a swaddle blanket as comfort? You have to be able to stop everything at 6 to 8 months or it becomes harder.

Baby sleep is a challenge...

Below is Pampers Nigeria diaper. I was changing her and the inner drying materials (made of so many chemical substances) spilled out. It was always falling apart and that inner lining would touch her skin and she would itch till she bled. I checked online and asked mothers and so many people had the same issue. And Pampers Nigeria doesn't seem to care about quality control.

I totally get where you are coming from...we can't be taken seriously till we start taking ourselves seriously...saying things like: that's Naija for u, there's nothing we can do et al, mean we ain't serious about our issues...we have to help ourselves to get the needed assistance...kudos to your initiative on class actions...

I wish I could do cloth diapering...but me can't, lemme just respect myself and maintain on my lane...though have never used wipes on my babes even for a day...always been flannel and water with essential oils...hubby thinks am stressing myself cos at the end of the day I still use disposables after the whole natural wiping...but am cool with my baby steps...
Doff my cap to you all doing cloth diapering!

One of my siblings laughed and told me that the Pampers Nigeria was made in Turkey, most likely in the same factory as the Pampers going out to Western countries. Which means they are deliberately giving us substandard goods. And most likely it is a Nigerian that allowed it. I believe her because when I tried to bring up the matter online, Pampers International was asking me to send an email to their Customer Service and discuss the matter whilst Pampers Nigeria was silent and instead posting pictures of their brand ambassadors.

We are the ones doing ourselves and we are the ones accepting it.

You should cloth diaper! You're already using cloth wipes. Do you know how pretty all our pics look not in disposables? cheesy and I'm not worried about the rising costs of diapers as Baby E gets older because it's the same diapers we have been using dor months. Plus, There is a new indigenous company coming into the market with Cloth Diapers and they are so good on product testing and using natural fibres and making suee their Quality is good and benefiting Nigeria. I already have their diaper wetbag and I like it.

Thanks for your quick answer. I will sure use it with cauction. I blame myself that she can't fall to sleep on her own. She even tend to wake immediately she placed on the bed, but sleep better if she is carried. God knows I tried so much we don't get to this, I couldn't just stand her cry without carrying, (i guess ttcing for 5years caused this o). I will embrace whatsoever package it comes with so God help me.

I am so with your sibling on this too...I had a personal experience on something similar when I just went into medical supplies by the side...We are our very own enemies...like I tell a colleague of mine to be careful when praying and asking that her enemies fall down and die...be careful, u might just be the one falling down and .....after that prayer! The things we do to harm ourselves are just unimaginable...I pray we help ourselves out of the pit we've put us in!

I will try the cloth diapering and see if I can cope...though kids are now 1yr...

Do you have a baby bouncer? If not, why not get one?

All you have to do is place your baby on the bouncer and rock her. Depending on the type of bouncer you buy, you can either rock her manually or set the bouncer to swing automatically. Some bouncers also come with the lullaby option.

The bouncer saves you or anyone carrying your baby all the time and it also helps your baby to be independent. As soon as she falls asleep on the bouncer, you can transfer her to her cot. You can also place your baby safely strapped on the bouncer while you carry on with your house chores, etc without having to worry about her rolling over, etc.

I used the bouncer till my son was about 6 months old and it was super helpful.

Lol @ wrigglers and shakers. Tell me about it. grin

I think size 4 should fit your daughter. The diaper has a "stretchy elastic band" so it should accommodate babies with bigger hips and bum.

You're gonna be just fine. It's all part of what you will use to shout at her the day she tells you she doesn't want to study Engineering or Medicine but be a Musician smiley don't feel weird or bad if anyone tells you to put her down, okay? And eventually, when you do get tired of carrying her, don't feel guilty about it. I promise you that she knows you love her, very much. Go give her the pacifier or you can afford it, try a bouncy chair. Maybe borrow a chair from a mama close to you and see if she likes it before splurging on your own.

Thanks mama, I have the fisher price cradle and swing, been putting her on it but she never fall asleep on it. In fact she doesn't stay upto 5 minute even with the swing, music and light on it.

How early did you start using it? We are 7weeks, is it too early?

That sounds like my lo, he has only ever fallen asleep in his bouncer once. And immediately he woke up and realised where he was he started wailing.

Well it's probably because I've totally spoiled him, he sleeps on my body, dh or I rock him to sleep, etc.

Like Onega advised, I don't answer anybody that tells me I'm spoiling him. I know I'm spoiling him but I also know that I have only these three precious months with him before I resume work.

I think it's normal esp if it isn't accompanied by fever, shivers. Some people are just plain sweaty, it begins from their babyhood....

Like onegai said, whatever method we choose will bite us later. Lol. I use pacifiers for my LO. Graduated from nursing to sleep because whenever I put her down, she would wake up again so we just pop in the pacifier. Now as long as she is fed; she can suck on the pacifier to sleep. My challenge now is that after it falls out, she moves her mouth (in her sleep) looking for it shocked but it's worked so far. She's 6 months plus now and it also helps calm her when she is fussy

I think it's normal, some people sweat a lot. Your baby is an ajebutter so she is used to cool weather. Just hold your money and buy some a.c. and a plant to be running electricity 24/7 tongue

Goodevening Mamas.....I didn't know taking care of a newborn is this time consuming ooo embarassed embarassed . I finally got an electric breast pump and expressed about 80mls from both breasts. I was expecting to get 80mls or more from each breast. Please suggestions or advice from Mothers with pumping experience cos I really need more milk so others can help lemme rest more too....

1. Isn't that 80mls from both breasts too small ? Am I not supposed to get more when pumping ?

2. What can I do to lactate more and get more milk to pump ?

3. How many times can I pump in a day ?

4. Baby looks small in my eyes. What can I do to make him add more flesh ? He will be 5weeks on Tuesday.

Cappo if he is looking small in your eyes try and weigh him to see if he is loosing weight. If he is loosing weight that means he is not been satisfied. Wat my paed told me at 5weeks after breastfeeding i shld top it with 55ml of bm if baby finishes it that means she is nt getting enough from the breast. And everyweek their food intake increases. God help us

Any idea where to get brand new kid books on the island in Lagos?

By the way, we are done with our 10weeks immunization. LO didn't cry much unlike the 6weeks own. I'm praying he doesn't have high temperature too. Thanks everyone for your input yesterday.

You can go to Oando filling station by 4th roundabout. There is one book store there. Really nice and they have other stuff as well. The prices are also reasonable. They have some kid's things on sale. Some books were 450, 550 and all were new.

In addition to what everyone has said, what body oil/lotion/skin butter do you use on her skin as that also might be responsible for the sweating. Try another oil/lotion/skin butter and see if it stops.
