This single issue is a major impediment. Reminds me how GEJ played politics with the Lagos Metro Rail Red Line.

Investors were ready with over 1 billion dollars to invest for the construction of the Red Line from Lagos to Ogun state, but GEJ refused to approve the Iddo station right off way which frustrated the investors till they eventually gave up...

Can you share with us how the:

a) 3 Senators
b) 10 Representatives

from Lagos state in NASS dealt with this alleged federal impediment at the legislative level?
Assuming that your story is not false, GEJ would still be a venerable Saint compared to Buhari who cancelled Jakande's metro line in 1984 after jailing the poor man and paying breach of contract fines in a depressed economy.
As for Tinubu and Obasanjo on Enron barge scandal, they were simply playing politics with their foolish fellow citizens. Are they not waving their APC broom together now?
Open up to the reality, bro.
Don't let yourself be deceived any longer.

The fact is that despite all her problems, Nigeria is developing, and gradually becoming a modern, 21st century nation. At the rate we're going, this country will look very different in the next 20 to 30 years.

you should say lagos is developing instead and not nigeria - lagos is a country on it own

Meanwhile Rivers People are still saying they dont need a rail system... grin grin grin

grin grin grin grin grin

Atleast 6 Months before kick-off, the Lagos State government should begin an awareness programme to sensitive Nigerians on how to use the rail system.

Investors were ready with over 1 billion dollars to invest for the construction of the Red Line from Lagos to Ogun state, but GEJ refused to approve the Iddo station right off way which frustrated the investors till they eventually gave up...

Funny enough, Lagos state started this Metro Rail dream over 30 years ago, they broke ground and stationed heavy equipment in Yaba and even paid millions of dollars which the state lost after the FG refused to guarantee the loan and forex for the projects and this was done by the same PMB as the head of state.

Same way OBJ frustrated Tinubu's 271MW IPP which was the 1st IPP in Nigeria. Imagine Lagos state today without FG's bad bele, lack of vision and foresight and crass tribalism. I see many more Metro rail and fully developed rail system in Lagos state without that shameful and anti progress intervention by the FG 30 years ago and even Lagos state with many more IPPs today if not for the same shortsighted FG bad bele and frustration.

The only silver lining is the fact that Lagos state did not give up on their Metro rail dream, they just picked the right time to dust off their plans and resume work on the same project 30 years later..

Lagos state is not short of good and visionary leaders, the problem is always the FG.

then regional autonomy is the way to go...

Lagos is not Nigeria. The rules are different. Jagaban nurtures Lagos and Buhari has refused the nurturing for Nigeria even though he's devoid of any idea as to what to do

That's the real money maker: projected to ferry over 2 million passengers (N200-N500m) or more, a day.

This country will never progress until we change all of them 1950/1960s laws; from power to rail, procurement, and e.t.c. -- phewww!

with the mumus in both the house of reps and senate, its a tall order bruv, unless we stop having the likes of saraki, dino, david mark, dogara, bankole and co in our legislature, those outdated laws will never go.

Though not perfect, its time to have brilliant folks like tinubu [not remi tinubu abeg] and fashola in our legslature. They know how to tinker with laws that bring true development.

Like I've always been advocating, states should push for a sort of regional high speed rail network. Finance won't be a problem ie states/world bank/AfDB and even private investors so its not much of an excuse. The only thing that stands in the way now is the railway corporation being under the FG but I believe legislation can be amended for the greater good of the country. Once again, great development

This is one of the many ways in which the constitution and the false federalism practised in Nigeria is a hindrance. Besides creating a system in which resources are taken from the south to be squandered by the north it creates a barrier to common sense solutions such as effective state or regional railways, police and prisons.

Bro with hunger strike, I see people buying cars and building houses everyday I was around sweet sensation on Sunday, you need to see customers so many there weren't any seat available. Then I ask myself with all this said hunger, how do people cope by spending so much? why aren't they saving all.ths money to buy food stuff at home. There is hardship yes,but people still spending like no tomorrow.

I believe there is a national blueprint in place in which all states are connected by high speed rail. It's a long-term project which probably won't be completed till 2035 earliest.

There is also a South-West regional blueprint, a part of which to connect most of the major South-west cities by rail.

What else do you have?

Lagos and Ogun state are growing everyday. Modernizing. Osun state is growing too...[/size]
