I was already foreseeing this few months ago considering the fact that people no longer recharge their phones like they used to, since the advent of whatsapp call and others. I told my brother that service providers will be looking for strategies to reduce their data at the expense of online calls that prevent people from recharging frequently

Na Thunder go fire all of them.. Even if MTN, Glo, Airtel and Etisalat no get sense shey NCC no suppose get sense ni?

Nigerian leaders embezzle money, rule them the way they want, while Nigerian citizens run down to America to claim our jobs, instead of them to fight against their government for better life-------Donald Trump!

#No be true?

The bolded can't be forgotten. Late Fela.

What trump and Fela said is the blatant truth. We are cowards. The moment we make them know we ain't one anymore, that's when we begin living like a sane human. It's only in Nigeria that basic amenities doesn't exist. An average Nigerian is yet to experience basic amenities.

Rotimi Amaechi once said " we steal because Nigerians don't stone us". Imagine this line. The day Nigerians start hurting the dumbfcks wherever they see from the local to state and federal then they begin their actual work.

Nigerians only know how to shout on each other. Short afonjas and Igbos blah blah. They continue will religious lines whereas the leaders don't care where you come from when they share the money.

Keep hoping and praying. Keep expecting a messiah to come and save ur asses. Na only Nigerians dey expect God to solve her problems

Lots of guys are really misinformed in this our Obodo Naija... How on earth do people expect a government to decently function without people having to pay tax on goods and services?

For what it's worth, most previous governments in our country were dubious when it came to the issue of taxes on goods and services - pretending as though there were none, or ignoring to collect them, so as not to disrupt/disturb the apple cart. That facilitates their winnng elections, when, in fact, the government anywhere can't function without taxes! As a result, you and me have been deceived — and spoilt — over the years, guys. To me, the important things is to hold the government accountable for all revenues it generates, so as to fan development.

And, to the OP: I have a feeling this will turn out to be the case of someone confusing a directive by the NCC for networks to collect lawful taxes due on data, with the expected increase in data rates as a result! I hope I'm not wrong, because then it will be sad indeed if the NCC should now start meddling in how much the networks prescribe as own base charge for own data service (before lawful taxes are applied.) In other words, God forbid a revert to the era of price control!

Competition, they say, IS good — for both business and consumer.

Good luck, everyone.

"constant but not heavy Internet data", just how light is that which you feel won't affect you? Pls think properly. Already a lot is wrong with their billing system. I use airtel, usually their 1.5gb on 1k used to see me through 3wks. I thought I could increase the time using the same data allocation by reducing Internet dealings, couldn't even update some of my apps, but I noticed it now barely lasts for two weeks! I've been suspecting fowl play, now this. We are in trouble.
Airtel data allotment is known to drain faster than you use it. I use Glo now and the 3.2gb allocated is actually 3.2gb.

Pls leave NCC alone. Buhari instructed them to raise the money. He did not succeed in selling national assets and he has no economic blueprint to borrow $30billon from IMF and IBRD, and NASS threw out his request. Then he new very well that Nigerian's can't afford not to use thier data. Bad market Bubu most survive. But we must resist this.

As an insider in one of the GSM companies, i can reliably inform you that data rate will go up 1st December,2016. NCC has mandated all GSM Companies to raise data rates. This is sad, Nigerians should not accept it, Nigerian Government through its agencies should not make life harder for Nigerians!
N1000 Will be 500MB from December 1st 2016.

What is this country evolving to?
Re: GSM Companies To Increase Data Rate by Nobody: 11:32pm On Nov 24, 2016
It sounds fake more than true. What concerns NNC on how much network providers charge, Do they have a percentage in the companies. Then of what benefits is the hike in price to them.
This sounds like the common Whatsapp will close your account if you don't send to ten ppl in 24hours message.
