Came across this video today, it brought mixed feelings to my spines
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xPo5yuLbvco
I was expecting comments on the video in the URL, but it appears the discussion got drifted to another corner. To our experienced and able "Air-Men", please can you illuminate me (and other curious minds like me) on the cause of the plane crash of the Ciruss aircraft with registration N4252G (I hope I framed the question the correct way)?
The way the ATC was conversing with him, I initially thought he was inexperienced (I thought the pilot was a female but an article I saw on google says the pilot was a male and have possessed a valid licence for about 2yrs), an with the way I saw the single engine propeller aircraft flying from the view of the radar, he was too high to have approached the runway from that altitude (I know nothing about how to tell of an aircraft's altitude except through its altimeter, but I based my judgement based on the other aircrafts that landed).
Sorry for my lenghty phrase...but just curious... was the accident caused my human error or mechanical error?

Even in a sim when you are using active sky next you see situation like that.

Concerning N4252G, it's difficult to tell what caused the crash because the media doesn't have all the information and at best speculate. It's just the NTSB that can authoritatively say what caused the crash.

Op,I've been following this thread and I've really learnt a lot....quick question. I've always wanted to be a pilot but for financial issues and others,I couldn't pursue it. So I'm studying Elect/Elect Engineering and wanted to know if i could possibly do a Masters degree in Aeronautics or Aerospace?

I understand that the 737's max range is 4,000nmi. So, how is the plane transported from the Boeing factory in Washington state to airlines based in Africa, Europe or Asia?

Fact: NAMA has 4 installed radar sites at the MMIA, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt airports.

Each has a range of 200km, thereby ensuring total radar coverage of Nigeria.

200km range from DNMM to DNAA?

That coverage is questionable bro undecided

Passengers Rumored To Have Disembarked Argentina Flight Because Of Female Pilots

According to passenger Marcos Martínez, a flight from Miami to Buenos Aires on Monday was delayed an hour and a half because seven passengers decided to disembark before the plane took off after discovering that their pilots were women.

Martínez, an Argentine passenger, told press it became clear that the pilot and copilot were women after a message was delivered over the loudspeaker of the plane. How more than seven passengers didn’t run for the exit after this announcement is beyond me. Don’t people know that women are bad drivers? Surely everyone else can thank their lucky stars that they touched down at Ezeiza.

Martínez boarded American Airline flight 909 with his wife and children ready to return to the motherland as soon as the Miami clock struck 8 PM. When the scheduled take-off time passed, passengers started to become impatient. It wasn’t until after taking off an hour and a half past the scheduled departure that one of the Spanish-speaking crew people allegedly told Martinez that passengers upset about having a lady pilot had caused the delay. Martínez told press he was told the flight was put on hold so that the deserters’ luggage could be retrieved.

¿Por qué el retraso? Porque 7 pasajeros pidieron bajarse al enterarse que piloto y copiloto eran mujeres. Año 2016.

— Antonio (@QuieroMiJarra) July 14, 2016

“Why the delay? Because 7 passengers asked to get off the plane after finding out the pilot and copilot were women. This is 2016.”

It was the talk of the cabin. Martínez told La Nación that the most frequently muttered words were, “How strange that they got off, why would they do that?”

To the passengers it may have seemed odd but hey, I doubt they were trying to be a Suicide Squad putting their lives in the hands of two women. I’m sure this group is closer to the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, just a few southern rockers trying to keep the band together.

American Airlines issued a press release stating that the delay was due to one passengers choosing to disembark at the last minute for “unknown reasons.”

Layman is back!... Landing during a rain storm .... or on a wet runway with pools of water. ..... does it affect control of the plane?.... is there much of a difference than landing on a dry runway?

It does. I know aircrafts have anti skid systems, but a lot of times, landing in extremely wet conditions or snowy tarmacs (contaminated runways) affects the handling and conditions of the plane and the pilot must be extremely careful or else the bird may go into a skid (you'd not wish it happen)

Hmmm.... ok... never ever thought they had anti skid system... comforting to know this ... but hope pilots in practicals did practice drifting! Moving on.... are the tyres inflated or solid rubber?.... I'm thinking the latter because of the enormous weight of the plane plus all those hefty passengers and their garbage luggage.

A layman is here again.

In cars, we have gears changing from gear 1 to 4 just to increase the speed. In planes, do we have such gears too?

Lets assume Lagos to London is 6hrs at a required speed of let say 200km/hr, can d pilot can just decide to increase the speed to reach destination faster like 4hrs plus or 5hrs?. For example; Like Nigeria, a driver can say if he drives to abuja from lagos, he will spend 8hrs and another can say 7hrs.

They say china is Very far, Australia is far etc. Those presidential jets. Will they stop to refuel or they can destination straight without stopping at neighbouring countries to refuel?

All these falcon x, gulfstream like those in presidential fleet, can y travel long range like from Nigeria to like south Africa, east africa and north africa.

I see A380 is very huge, which Boeing can compete with it in terms of efficiency

Dont tell me to ask google poop grin grin

Most jet airliners have a design cruise speed, usually Mach 0.7 to 0.85 (approximately 800-1000kph) cruising above or below this speed will adversely affect range just like driving ur car at gear on or at 250kph for a long distance. Jet aircraft do not have gears, but some propeller aircraft can adjust the angle of the propellers for high or low speed conditions.
The Nigerian presidential fleet is really top of the line by any standards. The G550 and Falcon 7X are some of the longest range business jets in the world.

Aircraft efficiency is a really complicated topic. The A380 is the most efficient, if you can fill it up. And that's the biggest problem, very few airlines can fill them up. Unfortunately, most A380s are not flying with enough passengers to make a profit. The Boeing 777-300ER is the king at the moment

The last two lines are like music to my ears. grin The A380 is becoming a pain in the a.ss of airlines so they prefer the twin engine long range jets that makes more economic sense.

Back! During the week Hmmm...if not all then almost all the members of a Brazilian Football Club team on their way to okqy a finals match were killed in a plane crash. The pilot was a 29 yr old ex Beauty whatever that was making her very first flight as a commercial pilot. So far they are claiming the plane ran out of fuel and crashed into the mountains. How can this be possible when there was no emergency?... and do planes fly with just barely enough fuel to cover the distance?.... or is it standard for them to take excess just in case they have to abort landing at their destination? Then... what's your thoughts on what could've possibly gone wrong?

Most airlines fly and operate planes with just enough fuel to take them to their destinations. They most tines, skips refuelling at stop covers. I feel that's what happens and maybe the crew members (pilot and co) did not check the amount of fuel left before taking off or were assuming to stop over at another airport/strip and refuel and it went bad.

Mr Pilot i'm sure you are aware of the crash which involved a top Brszillian club, Chapocoence resulting from a lack of fuel/electrical faults.
My Question therefore is: are there alternative escape routes; can passengers be allowed to jump out the windows in cases such as that or do they just wait death to catch up with them?

The windows of commercial planes are sealed. You can't jump out to no where embarassed
That said, the most safest places to sit in an aircraft are the rear/tail sides and the area where the wings meet (if the plane has a low wing design).
