Russian-Nigerian Defender Brian Idowu Warms Up For Rohr’s Visit With Goal For Amkar Perm

Russian Nigerian defender Brian Idowu scored his second professional goal but his first in three
seasons as Amkar Perm ran out 3-0 winners over
Orenburg in the Russian Premier League.

The last time Idowu found the back of the net
was on the 12th of May 2014 while on loan to
Russian second division side FK Dinamo Sankt-
Peterburg, in a game they lost 2-3.

Idowu netted in the 35 minutes to put Amkar
Perm 2-0 up before Roland Gigolaev scored a
third to complete the rout at their home ground
Zvezda Stadion.

Already coach of the Nigeria senior national team Gernot Rohr has arranged talks with the 24 year old over plans to call him up to the Super Eagles for their World Cup 2018 qualifiers next year.

He is expected to give Nigeria depth at the left
and right back positions, same role he plays for
his Russian side Amkar Perm.

OYIBO WALL – Rohr Lines Up Alternative As
Fear Looms Over Game Time For Ekong At Gent

There are palpable fears that William Troost-Ekong will struggle to get game time at Belgian side Gent after a successful loan spell in Norway with FK Haugesund.

Ekong has been out on loan since joining the
Belgian side but he is expected to push for a first team spot after impressing for Haugesund in the recently concluded season in Norway.

After a splendid performance for Nigeria at the Rio 2016 Olympics, his regular run of games in
Norway where he captained the team to a
respectable finish in the league has helped his
international career blossomed.

The Dutch-born Nigerian defender has formed a
formidable partnership with Leon Balogun in the
heart of Nigeria defence, a combination that is
now known as “Oyibo Wall”.

Coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr is
reportedly worried that Ekong could be starve off game with Gent, as the back four of Lasse
Nielsen, Stefan Mitrovic, Rami Gershon and Nana
Asare appears to be untouchable for now.

The coach has already advised the 23 year old to switch to a tougher league, but it appears even at Gent he could struggle to get game time when his registration is done in January.

DESTINED FOR BIGGER THINGS - FIFA 17
RISING STAR ALEX IWOBI COULD SURPASS
LEGEND UNCLE OKOCHA

The 20-year-old has been turning on the style for the Gunners and for Nigeria thus far this season and could yet reach the same level of the former Bolton Wanderers legend

In case anyone was unaware of tradition he’s
living up to, Alex Iwobi spelled it out for them in
glorious technicolour. Collecting the ball in
midfield, draped in Nigeria’s famous all-green, the teenager painted a rainbow in November’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria.

“I didn’t teach him that,” said his uncle, two-time BBC African Footballer of the Year Jay-Jay Okocha, whose own rainbow flick one afternoon for Bolton Wanderers against Arsenal remains one of the iconic moments in Premier League history.

A history that looks set to be punctuated by Iwobi for many years to come.

“When it comes to things like that I never really
think about it,” revealed the 20-year-old. If it
happens, it happens.”

A lot has been happening for the Lagos-born
starlet from this famous footballing family. Iwobi
arrived in England at the age of four and was
snapped up by Arsenal’s academy just three
years later.

He went on to represent the club at every age
group and turned out for England at under-18
level, but pledged his international allegiances to his birthplace.

"It was a difficult decision picking Nigeria over
England,” he told Arsenal’s official club website.
“I'm very proud to represent Nigeria… The fans
almost eat you up because they love you so
much.”

The passion with which he has been greeted by
the nation comes as little surprise. “He is the star we have been looking for," said former Nigeria and Arsenal man Nwankwo Kanu.

Iwobi may be the one Arsenal have been looking for, too. He scored in each of his first two Premier League starts last season and then grabbed two assists in a 3-3 draw at West Ham United.

But if last season was his coming-out party, this
2016-17 is proving his breakthrough year. Now a regular in the starting XI, he’s appeared regularly in Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League games so far.

He has also featured in 10 of Arsenal's 14 Premier League games so far this season, registering three assists - only Alexis Sanchez has more.

The modest teenager admits he has been
surprised by his impact – and that he’s even been given the opportunity to make one.

"Honestly I didn't expect to be where I am
today… I thought a long time ago that I'd be out on loan,” he told Arsenal Player. "I just play like it's almost like my last, I treat it like it's my last moment here.”

There is little chance of that. Iwobi is living up to his great tradition. And with the club gunning to end a 12-year drought for a Premier League title, the young man painting rainbows may yet
provide their long-awaited day in the sun.

Patrick Igwe Picks Up Another MOTM Award
In Portugal After Scoring And Providing Two
Assists

Free scoring Nigerian forward Patrick Igwe was
once again voted the man of the match after
scoring and picking up two assists in Alcanenense 4-2 thrashing of Lusitania.

Picking up the Man of the Match award is
something he has become used to after winning
it three times in the last five games.

Igwe now has six goals and five assists in the
Portuguese third division, a reason why he is
heavily tipped to make the step up to a bigger
club in January.

The 19 year old has discovered the form that
made Pacos Fereira brought him from Nigeria
before releasing him few months later.

He is reportedly in the list of top clubs in Portugal like Sporting Lisbon and Benfica, although reports has it that SC Braga are in the driving seat for his signature this January,

Fenerbahce Join Leipzig, Anderlecht & Hoffenheim In Race For Henry Onyekuru

Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahçe have joined the race for the signature of KAS Eupen’s Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru in the January transfer window.

Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad claims the Yellow Canaries are monitoring the performance of the 19-year-old frontman with a view to a bid in the coming weeks.

But Fenerbahce face serious competition, with
the player also on the radar of Leipzig, Anderlecht and Hoffenheim.

Onyekuru’s brilliant form this season has caught the eye having netted 8 goals in all competitions for his modest Belgian club and he has provided five helpers.

Under contract with KAS Eupen until the summer of 2020, he is rated in the region of €1.5 million by transfer market experts.

Super Eagles’ Coach, Gernot Rohr, has compiled names of Europe-based players with Nigerian roots for the forthcoming international friendlies against Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal, a source at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has revealed.

According to the source, who pleaded anonymity, most of the players are those who have played for their countries of residence, but have recently agreed to change allegiance to Nigeria.

“Victor Anichebe’s case is different because he
has been a member of the Super Eagles for more than seven years. He was slowed down by
injuries, but now that he is back and doing well
for Sunderland, Rohr wants to see him closely
during the friendly games.

refused tom play for Nigeria, are now willing to
play for the country of their parents.”

I like your dream.

Some1 like me has experienced so many heart breaks mostly because of the recklessness and inefficiencies of our FA officials.

Even the Legendary Pele predicted that an African team would win the World Cup before the end of last century but... we ourselves proved him wrong.

What did Pele see? Emergence of West African countries at youth level from the mid 1980s. His calculation was that about 10 years from 1985 to 1990 those boys would have graduated into Super Stars. The arithmetic probably was "if we can beat u in 1985 as 17years olds we should be able to beat you in 1995 as 27years olds".

But both we and Pele did not know about the "AFRICAN FACTOR".

Remember my argument with you last year about that CHEMICAL REAGENT? That is the African factor which includes both players attitude and Football administrators.

After our exploits at the 1994 World Cup, we hard and emergence of a crop of younger players. Graduates of the 1993 U17 and U20 and 1996 Olympics. Mennn they were better than their predecessors of the 1994 World cup.

Babayaro replaced Iroha
Taribo replaced a retiring Keshi
Tijani Babangida had joined the Team, adding to our wings fire power
Oliseh had gotten more matured and co-ordinated
Okocha was about the most skillful player in the world.
What of Kanu Nwankwo? He was one of the most dreaded young forwards in Europe
Victor Ikpeba was at his peak, Yekini was winding down his career.
Garba Lawal, one of the most efficient utility players we've ever had had also joined the team.
Some1 like Mutiu Adepoju was also in that team.
What of Finidi George? He was about the best winger in the world then. Filled with plenty of experience.
Daniel Amokachi, Wilson Oruma, Austine Eguavoen were also part that squad.

Just imagine a back line of:

Eguavoen..Okechukwu..Taribo..Babayaro..
This na wall of Gilbralter defence! Mixture of youth and experience.

THE FRANCE 1998 TEAM WAS BETTER THAN THE USA 1994 TEAM.

We thought that was the year we could go all the way to at least the semis haven assembled a better, more dynamic and more flamboyant team.

Imagine starting the tourney with a win over Spain! And securing qualification with 1 match to go after beating a highly rated Bulgarian team that finished 4th at USA 94!

But what went wrong?
Only Bonfere Jo and those players will tell us why they were already thinking about playing Brazil in the quarter final when they first had to beat Denmark. 4-1 Defeat! I was not my self for many days. cry

There after I lost hope in any Super Eagles Team.

As I said, I like your dream but.... I hope you wont suffer heart break like I did. embarassed

I know I lack the years of football followership and experience that you have (I remember this being the key ingredient for your over-conservatism some times.... The "we-have-seen-it-all-and-been-there" attitude. smiley The "Okocha-kanu-Oliseh-Yekini-and-co-couldnt-do-it-so-why-think-we-can-do-it-now" looks.....)
.

I even said so in last year's super debate with you, arch-guardian himself....... But I also said, I have tried to make up for that with sound reseaches into the past. I remember the chemical reagent talk really well... I believe my point was well spelt out. Different reactants' and catalysts "levels of composition" won't always yield the exact results. And under different temperature and pressure, the products won't certainly be the same. So there's still hope.... All it needs is a little "twitch" smiley

But I have suffered heart-breaks upon heart breaks also.... 2000 Afcon Final when I was 7 before my 8th birthday few couple of weeks later in march....

Afcon 2002 semis vs senegal»» Heartbreak... sad

FIFA WC vs Sweden»» A game we were supposed to win.... Heartbreak!!

Afcon 2004 semis vs Tunisia»» Serious heartbreak.... sad sad

Afcon 2006 semis (final remnants of our first golden generation) vs CIV and her golden generation»» Heartbreak x2

FIFA WC 2006»» Despite producing an unbeaten run since the 1-0 loss to Angola in luanda in 2004 and also spoiling it with a 1-1 stalemate with same Angola in kano... We missed GERMANY 2006. ANOTHER BIG HEARTBREAK!!!!

A generation of John Utaka, Obafemi martins, yakubull, Chidi ordiah, A young Mikel Obi, Midfield general Okocha, Magician Kanu, the mesmerising Ike Uche, The Dazzling Osaze Odemwingie, and many more lost the chance to display their wares before the world stage that would have given them enough experience for WC 2010.

Afcon 2008 quarters vs Ghana»» First time since 1982 we won't make the semis... HEARTBREAK!

Afcon 2010 semis vs Ghana»» Despite the presnece of an attack having Martins, Yakubu, Obasi, etc... Ghana still beat us... Heartbreak!!

FIFA WC 2010»» Super heartbreaks vs Greece.... Greece had never scored a WC goal or won a WC game. They did both against us that day. We were stupidly generous... HEARTBREAK GALORE...
That 2-2 stalemate vs South Korea..... Don't wanna talk about it... You know the story... HEARTBREAK!!!!

Afcon 2012»» We were not even there. First time we failed to qualify since 1986.... Heartbreak!!!

Afcon 2015»» You know how it went... Another absence... Another heartbreak...

Afcon 2017»» Another heartbreak..... But I have gotten over this to focus on the future that lies so beautifully before us... The rise of our new Super Golden Generation.... This is what brought me here... This is what I foresaw when I joined NLSports last year after SL10 NIGERIA was shut down (Only spent 2months plus with them).

I have suffered many more heartbreaks with respect with some years involving our U-20s like 1999, 2013, 2015 and even U-17s like 2001 and 2003.

So many Sir.... BUT YET, I STILL BELIEVE.

A CHINESE PROVERB I THINK SAYS, "fall down seven, get up eighth" right?

Well, I say..... "Fall down 99, get up 100th". The STORY OF CONTINUED PERSISTENCE AND DOGGED BELIEF IN SOMETHING BIG (no matter the obstacles) BEING ACHIEVED ONE DAY IS MY LIFESTYLE.

I apply same with my studies and personal life-vision (It was like a dream when at age 21, I got into the only slot for a special Classified wildcard long-term research scholarships in neurosciences and other interdisciplinary studies utilising top-class online and on-campus learning/study/training approaches) so I also believe we can see same in our football because the potentials are so boundless. It's true we have failed in times past to build on what we have but I have a feeling we can get it right this time in a couple of years.... AND EVEN IF WE FAIL AGAIN. BE REST ASSURED.... I WON'T STOP BELIEVING. WE MUST GET IT RIGHT..... smiley

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has reflected on the popularity of Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi among kids at the Camp Nou.

In an interview with UEFA TV, the Arsenal youngster said that the kids believe that it’s only Messi and refused to acknowledge the other stars in the ranks of Barcelona, and also spoke about the atmosphere the Champions League creates, especially when teams face Barcelona at home.

are the kids, the little kids. They want to hold
everyone’s hands,” Iwobi said.

“We come out, and it’s “meh...” then Barcelona
come out, and it’s Messi, Messi, Messi, Messi.”

The Arsenal number seventeen added : “I was
thinking : “There’s Neymar, Suarez, there’s other people as well”. But no, “ Messi, Messi, Messi”.

“It’s mad. I can’t even describe it. Walking out,
it’s just crazy. And then you hear we are the
champions!”

Arsenal will travel to Switzerland to play Basel
tomorrow and Iwobi will be hoping to put up a
strong showing in the final group game.

I know I lack the years of football followership and experience that you have (I remember this being the key ingredient for your over-conservatism some times....

Emem Eduok.... If I recall his name right, it was he who scored The first international goal at the nest of champions in Uyo vs Ghana. smiley
.......................................................................

EMEM EDUOK OPENS GOAL ACCOUNT IN
KASIMPAŞA’S LOSS

The Nigerian found the net but could not rescue Kemal Ozde's side from bowing to Jan Olde Riekerink’s men at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Stadium

Emem Eduok was on target in Kasımpaşa’s 2-1
home loss to Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday evening.

The 22-year-old’s 53rd minute strike drew his side level after Lukas Podolski’s early opener for the visitors.

Hopes of a Kemal Ozde's side comeback got
dashed by Portuguese winger Jeffrey Bruma who
netted just six minutes after Eduok's leveller.

The match saw the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan
Stadium outfit end the game with a man down
after Kenneth Otigba was given the marching order after a second caution in the space of two minutes.

Eduok's goal against the Yellow-Reds was his first- in nine league matches since his loan move from Tunisian side Esperance. And the result sees them languish in 13th spot on the log, with a paltry 12 points garnered from 13 topflight
games.

However, the Nigeria international will hope to
add to his tally when his side visits Godfrey
Oboabona and Iyayi Atiemwen’s Rizespor for a
Turkish first division encounter on December 10.

Nothing do u Bro, it happens and try to get over it. You are one of the assets on this thread.

As for Ekong, The guy is a very good defender, hence the trust and ability to bench stefan and Rami. I think he's even better than both of them. I watched couple of Genk matches this season.

I hope you wont suffer heart break like I did. embarassed

you said it perfectly well! The level of confidence nigerians had prior to that game against Denmark was insane. I can even remember that match well enough, my mom came into the parlour when the match was about to start and was like 'who are we playing today?', even before my junior bro could finish pronouncing Denmark she said 'mtchw, I will only watch the game against Brazil'. She totally rubbished Denmark, what happened then I'd never know I swear, since then she doesn't watch our games anymore, sad sad story

Looollll..... Yea ofcourse.... But the NFF were also at their "eediotic" best when AFCON 2013 came around and they kept up with it during the tournament. Did that stop Keshi and co from conquering Africa? smiley

The NFF and its band of "entropy-laden" individuals are one side of the coin.... Our team led by Rohr out there on the field of play is the other side of the coin.

The NFF will never be perfect and have never been perfect but that has not stopped Nigeria from making international headlines on many occasions for the right reasons. The only thing is...... THERE WILL BE BIG CHALLENGES AS REGARDS "SUSTAINING AND BUILDING ON SUCH SUCCESS"...... Oh well, This is where Hoping against Hope comes in.... That somehow, someday... Our NFF will be be at least 1/4 as good and organised as the Germans and Spaniards were (and still are) that saw them forge teams and systems that have remained super-consistent over the years at the highest level of international soccer.

In all..... I choose to focus on this rising generation of Nigerian footballers. They hold promises and potentials akin to the class of the '90s.
It's true none of our current Super Eagles XI will make that France 98 squad BUT we must remember that the Super Eagles squad of 2004 and 2006 were far stronger than the class of 2013 that conquered Africa.

Football is unpredictable sometimes.... wink

Pinnick won't be there forever and who comes after is kinda a mystery for now. But I choose to focus on the "side of the coin" that matters.... smiley

Chelsea Wonderkid Dominic Solanke To
Make Nigeria Debut Against Senegal, Claims NFF

Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke could make his
international debut for the Super Eagles when
they lock horns with Senegal in March, according to reports.

The Guardian Nigeria, citing an unnamed source at the Nigeria Football Federation, has
sensationally CLAIMED that Solanke is in line for
a shock call-up to Gernot Rohr’s side during the
next international break.

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that
individuals close to the Sports Ministry and NFF
earlier approached the Blues wonderkid to turn
out for Nigeria rather than England, but he
snubbed their overtures as he fancies his chances with the Three Lions.

Born in Reading 19 years ago, Solanke has played for the U16, U17, U18, U19 and U21 national teams of England, but can still represent the Super Eagles if the grandfather rule is invoked since he has not played competitively for the English senior team.

The newspaper has also claimed that Jordon Ibe, Kelvin Akpoguma, Chuba Akpom, Karim Onisowo and Ola Aina will be called up for the international friendly.

SAMMY AMEOBI ON TARGET IN BOLTON
WANDERERS WIN

The Newcastle United loanee netted a beauty to
help propel the Trotters to the next stage of the
English FA Cup Sammy Ameobi was on target as Bolton Wanderers defeated Sheffield United 3-2 in a FA Cup second round clash on Sunday.

Phil Parkinson’s side took the lead in the first half after Gary Madine cushioned in off a long throw-in from the left side. Interestingly, Ameobi doubled his side’s advantage with just only a minute of the second interval gone. And he did so in a stunning fashion; collecting a pass at the edge of the area, then sending a low curling effort past Aaron Ramsdale.

Chris Wilder’s side halved the deficit few minutes after the hour mark via a Paul Cotts effort but Josh Vela swept a left-footed finish past the Blades’ goalkeeper to restore the Wanderers two-goal cushion.

With the 24-year-old Nigerian subbed off, Jack
O'Connell ensured there was a tense finish at the Macron Stadium after netting late to bring the scoreline to 3-2. But the League One side held on to progress to the next round of the FA Cup.

The winger, on loan from Newcastle, has featured in 15 league games for the high-flying English third division team, scoring one goal.

His side’s next fixture sees them welcome
Gillingham for a league game on December 12.

EXCLUSIVE – Chidozie Awaziem Close In On
Loan Move Away From FC Porto

19 year old Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem
will most definitely leave FC Porto on loan in
January in search of first team football after falling out of favour since the coming of coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

Last season Awaziem made a total of 12
appearances in all competition in his breakthrough season at the Estadio Di Dragao but this season he has been relegated to the B team.

He has made 14 appearances for the B team who are competing in the second division in Portugal, and his disciplinary record is one of the worst in the division.
Known for his hard tackling, he has picked up seven yellow cards and a red card already with
just 14 games played, close to last season when
he picked up 10 caution in games for the main
team and the B team.

“Hopefully Awaziem will leave in January, we are
working on a loan move for him. He needs to start playing regularly in the top division, that way he will progress the way he ought to” Alhaji Izul Arab who mentored the Porto prospect while in Nigeria told Owngoalnigeria.com.

It might be conflicting intrest but it is not corrupt. A coach does not have the power to tell his brother not to be an agent. The practice might open the door for corruption but on it's own it is not.
The agents use their relationship with the managers to get their players signed up on the agreement that a certain percentage/cut of the players salary/allowance goes to the manager.

These sort of deals usually involves African players.

When Portsmouth signed alot of African players like Utaka, Papa Diop, Fae, Diao, Colly, Muntari, Kanu etc... You don't want to know what Harry Rednapp made from those deals.

Are you for real

Listen, as a coach, Sunday Oliseh is clueless. But as a player, Oliseh at his best is world class. Definitely one of the best DMs in the world at that time. In those days, the Super Eagles always struggle each time Oliseh is having an off day. In fact, one reason why we got trashed by Demark in the '98 world cup was because Oliseh was MIA in that game. That's how influential he is to our game.
