Hi ALL,

The information provided here is top class.

I applied 6 weeks ago via online application. My application has been updated and I have been requested to come with my passport.

Please how long does it take from the time my passport is dropped off with VFS for it to be returned.

Thanks

Congrats. Is this your first time to apply for a Canadian visitors visa? It would be beneficial to the house if you share documents submitted. Thanks in advance.

Hi All! I was searching for SOWP application in Nigeria and I found the thread. Interesting stories...
Has anyone applied for SOWP recently? My spouse applied in August, then the processing time was 14 weeks. However, a month back it was 16 weeks and now in December its 26 weeks sad. The application will be 4months old by next week which I hope the current processing time does not affect.

careerwoman:

Thank you but Im waiting on my proof of studentship from school and bank statement from sponsor.
God bless your kind soul. I will be needing help with pick up from YUL and touring. For my accommodation, I chose Samesun Montreal Center at St. Hubert street. I hope they are nice as the reviews on booking.com depicted. My conference will take place at Plais des Congressi (Convention center). Samesun is a bit far but its prices were too reasonable to overlook. 250cad for 9 nights (breakfast included). Perhaps, you might know other affordable and nice opttions close to the convention center.

No worries, I hope you get all that sorted just in time.

Amen! God Bless you too. It's fine. No problem about that. Just keep me posted as to when you will be around and all.

Nice one you got there. Although I don't know Samesun Montreal Centre, but I believe you got a great deal. 250CAD for 9 days? I think that's a nice deal. Dont know if there is any cheaper one than that though, but I know a friend who came in September, Spent about 4 to 5 days in an Hotel/Motel and paid about 50 or 60 CAD each day.

So I think this Option (Samesun Montreal Centre) is a good one. Checked their pictures and I see it's cool. So if you wanna save money, instead of going for an hotel, the Samesun Montreal Centre will be a good idea.

I know a friend who has ideas about how this hostels/Centres work, I will ask her about it. Maybe there is any affordable one or better one than this.

Also as regards the distance to Palais des congrès de Montréal, it's close. Just checked it on the Map, and see it's just two Metro stops away from the Samesun centre. I know the Palais des congrès de Montréal, been there a couple of times. It's just right outside the Metro.

Also, by car is just about 7 to 10 minutes drive, depending on the traffic.

Dont worry much about that for now.

The visa and processing is the koko for now. I wish you all the best once again. It will end in praise. Cheers!

justwise:

1.Address the letter to Canadian embassy in Lagos or Abuja depending on where you are applying from.

2. Select yes to the question that asked if you have been refused a visa before then state briefly that you were issued later after Italian embassy ratified their mistake

3. You need a letter from your school permitting you to take the trip

My school is frustrating me with the letter for the embassy. too many protocols.. I've been walking around throughout this week yet I haven't gotten 60% of the work done. I'm not sure I will make it in time for the visa application embarassed

Hello house. Just confirmed. Application approved. Am still waiting for the embassy to ask me to come for my passport. God is amazing. As promised these are the documents I submitted:

- Invitation letter from my uncle who is a Canadian citizen, stating the reason for the visit and that all expenses will be covered by him and his family. Signed and dated on PDF file. The reason is family reunion. I've not seen my cousins since 2006 and they've been to Nigeria only once so I wanted to use my leave to spend some time with them.
- Employment letter
- 5 months GTB Statement of account of 1.8 million
- Letter of explanation/introduction. In this piece I explained in details my responsibilities and family ties both in Nigeria and Canada, my professional career and why staying beyond the approved time will not be in my interest. I also reiterated that all living expenses, accomodation and feeding during my stay will be handled by my uncle and his family and the funds am bringing with me will be for other sundry and personal expenses. I am single, I do not have any personal landed property, I have never traveled out of Nigeria before. I was honest about all that in the letter of explanation.
- Travel itinerary. I stated specific addresses of places I plan to visit and the dates, the specific addresses of my friends in Canada I plan to visit. I also stated that the plans can be rescheduled just in case I don't get the approval before the stated dates.

congratulations! Like I always say, it doesn't matter if you've got travelling experience or not, your visa application would be approved provided you're qualified for a visa. Thanks for sharing this...quite motivating, especially to those first time applicants out there. Wishing you the very best!

I think sincerity plays a huge role in visa applications and also the fact that your uncle is a Canadian citizen makes it very difficult for the VO to refuse applications such as yours. This is good news to all 1st time applicants like myself. Congratulations to u @Zeus
