And dyu know what psychological scar you may have left the child with?
Y'all shud consider every implication of an act before executing it. There's a reason such acts are not approved by relevant authorities

What about circumcision. Based on this quote.

I think you should stick to your limited knowledge.

Stop arguing, I may not scientifically defend the practice but I have done it and it worked that same day.

So does beating a child to comma most times stop the child from committing an offense.

It doesn't mean 1) it's hygienic 2)it's sensible 3) it's safe 4) won't leave some psychological defects in the child.

Something works doesn't mean it's the best approach.

I'm not in support of the act but I doubt there'll be any psychological scar. The boy doesn't know his right from his left so how and what would scar him?

This is through though. Children are very impressionable. They might look innocent or ignorant but what you do to them, how you treat them affects them later in life.

Why do you think most abused children grow up to become abusers?

Sharap there.

Ancient people have been solving their health challenges through traditional means which have been proved to work over time.

Having no scientific proof doesn't invalidate a result.

It does actually. Don't let the word "science" decieve you. Scientific proofs are gotten by observation, experimenting properly etc

What he is saying is that he can prove it's unsafe and that the proofs are gotten by scientific means which just means proper observation.

Science has been around for millenia

If you can not scientifically defend the practice keep quiet. I can scientifically condemn it.

Not all children walk at the same age. Different people reach the milestone at different ages. Some never do. The cause of developmental delay should be sought by a professional.

The child is at risk of infection from earth dwelling microbes including viruses, bacteria and fungi. He may contract tetanus, botilinism, anthrax, , histoplasmosis, cryptosporidium, aspergillosis, pneumococcus, pneumocysticosis and strachybotrys among more than 100 other possibilities.
Among the bacteria let us mention the gram negatives as well as coliforms (bacteria found in human and animal waste)

Many of these have no effective treatment even with modern medicines

He may be exposed to elemental poisoning from man made and natural substances in the soil including radioactive waste, lead, products of degradation of plastics and other compounds, degradation products of insecticides and herbicides, leeched byproducts of industrial processes and mining etc.

Apart from sickness, this child is being subjected to mental and physical abuse by ignorant and/or wicked guardians.

Yet some people come here to defend this barbarism. Shame on you.

Black man. I give you hand o! No wonder we are last in everything that matters

If it's tradition and culture, then you can beat them. They are doing what is the best for the child.

Well I don't really know what to say, the fact is we can't totally remove traditional practices in our lives. Some are for good while some are for bad. Well in this case so far such practice does not inflict any sort of "pain" or trauma on the child, I see nothing wrong with this. From what I can see the child seems to even be enjoying it sef with his sweet.

nothing wrong with the practice.
as long as it will help the child. there is absolutely nothing brutal or wicked about.. I just wonder why you condemn traditional stuff while most of you were actually brought with such like herbs etc
just because you got a bit of exposure.
for the fact it doesn't have a scientific explanation does not mean it is a bad practice.
Re: A Child's Legs Buried In Benue Over His Inability To Walk As At When Due (Pics) by Nobody: 3:14pm On Dec 10, 2016
it's barbaric but as long as it doesn't pose any danger to the child and it works, then aight. undecided

What's barbaric about it?

Maybe when ya'll have kids and they don't walk as at when due u won't take desperate measures.

Neighbours in my old hood took their kid whose legs were severely K-SHAPED to their village grin

She came back better, now it's very normal.

If this works let em update on FB too, so others can know about it.

Also lemme share this cos not everyone might know, if by accident, ur kid ingests kerosene, pls quickly make em swallow palm oil .

As a kid i didn't know this, it was a visitor who quickly took over & saved the situation.

Keep looking down on ur tradition.

Which of you have any memory of the exact day ahd hour you started walking? You only begining remembering details about age 5. Even then, your memory is sketchy. The baby will never remember this when he's grown up. But let him see a picture in future and he will seek vengence on all involved.

So if the child has scratched himself (like all kids do) and has an open sore on his skin and his legs are buried underground, he walks but then the wound gets infected....

what next?
