nemesis2u: F-35 is a joint project with many US allies ,they must share some code at least partly. Snoop enable version almost for sure US has this habit .And most of their allies can't resist no matter how expensive it is.they have no other choice.they can't develop it indenpendently. J20 has it's own operating system which is classified. |

nemesis2u:and then there is ADA which is a more secured language compared to the widely civilian used C++ . The US DOD outsourced the creation of ADA to Bell Tech and it is the language that powers most of the US Mil Apps. |

Nemesis2u and chinese8107 What if your argument on the use of C++ for F-35 have something to do with cuda programming introduced in 2007. Cuda is an extention of C/C++ used for programming GPUs to process complex operations within a very short time. Cuda is still very recent and only C/C++ can be used for now. Cuda enables parallel processing on the CPU and GPU simultaneously. GPUs have thousands of cores to compared to CPU with just few cores. |

patches689: Fact remains, around 4 Turkish A4 tanks have been destroyed by Tow missiles in Syria. Whereas a single T-72B took two TOW missiles and survived. T-90s have also performed pretty well in Syria, taking lots of direct hits. My argument was over the years before the conflicts in Syria and Yemen, you kept on banging about the performance of the T-72 against the Abrams in the Iraqi Gulf war. Despite the fact that all the elements were in favour of the US and her allies in that conflict. Today we see vehicles you claim to be superior been blow apart all over the conflicts in Syria and Yemen including significantly modernised Patton tanks fielded by Turkey and Saudi-Arabia, while their Russian equivalents in the same battles perform really well. Even with the Add On armour, it would be the same effect as newer model ATGMs enter the market. Based on the conflict in Syria, any watcher can confidently say that when compared, two tanks from the same generation, Russian and western, properly trained crew, the Tanks from Russia offer better all round capability and are indeed better. If the battle of Khursk were to repeat itself, this December 2016, i would know were my money is. 4 Likes |

iblawi: CUDA is a parallel computing platform and application programming interface (API) model created by Nvidia It allows software developers and software engineers to use a CUDA-enabled graphics processing unit (GPU) for general purpose processing I v no idea if F-35 uses Nvidia GPU chip in it's build-in computer. but there is possibility. |

chinese8107: To me this can explain why the program is expensive because they are completely new projects. The technology is currently being extended to other devices. |

iblawi: CUDA is in use in ISR systems mounted on manned aircraft's uavs etc etc , radars, missiles ( i know of very big missiles ) long story short advantage: it decreases the Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) requirements of the onboard compute platform resulting in greater range, greater payload and greater endurance . disadvantage: latency of the incoming data steam but it can be mitigated to certain extent. i dont think F35 per se uses CUDA. only chances r that its subsystems like the Reconnaissance/targeting pods or EO subsystems (LRUs) might use it . to reduce SWaP parameters, to reduce the aircraft's own processor overload and increase redundancy etc no way to confirm. ask the Chinese military to know for sure 1 Like |
