nextprince: You equally aren't aware of what the soldiers knew. You don't know how many times they have probably senselessly have to bear torture because of some ogas irresponsibilities. You never can be too sure it wasn't a spill over of some frustrations they had endured. Until you hear from both sides, don't be in a hurry to judge and condemn people. You are not in their shoe. 5 Likes |

I grew up in the Barracks when mutiny was only a written offence because no soldier dared think of such. But these days, it has become the order of the day. #return our Army to the days of innocence 1 Like 1 Share |

nextprince:spot on. Our men on uniform is gradually becoming a synonym for disgrace. Soldiers are suppose to be highly disciplined. But of course, the commanders have a long history with abuse of power so mutiny is expected 2 Likes |

When the last administration tried and sentenced mutinous soldiers who tried to kill their commanders, the APC then in opposition built political capital out of the whole incident and reinstated the soldiers when they came in. Now, the chickens have come home to roost. There is no country that treats mutinous soldiers with kid's gloves. Go see what's happening in Turkey and elsewhere. 4 Likes 1 Share |

D boys should just keep quiet and plan... Move silently like nothing wrong is happening then swoop and kill every top corrupt official on sight...like January 1966... Else change go be mouth. |

Are you aware of the 2.1 billion dollars arms deal meant for our soldiers shared by the government. Hearing something like that can make one lose hope. Besides, soldiers are also civilians working in the military. They eat like us, drink like us, cry like us, live like us. They are human. If you know so much about discipline, you should join the army, maybe u cud get to a high position and teach your discipline. Many youths have lost hope in Nigeria. Why should soldiers be any different?? nextprince: 1 Like |

The reason for the mutiny is senseless, the world military will laff @ us if these affected soldiers are not court martialed summarily. But APC government made a political base of the last mutiny,so everything goes. If these are not checked, even a bloody unsuccessful coup will go unpunished. 1 Like 1 Share |

nextprince: Inasmuch as you said you interacted very well with those that have gone to peace keeping operations, I bet u didn't ask them what makes them to excell, even our so called corrupt policemen do perform excellently well when they go for outside operations. Try visit most of the barracks we have around, then you will see situations for yourself...inasmuch as they have their bad side, you can never compare the military training and cost of training an ordinary recruit in a developed world and the prize on their head to what we have in Nigeria 1 Like |

[quote author=jollymizzle post=52036909]I won't argue since you have close relations in the army. But I think the welfare standard in our military is one of the poorest . we have heard a lot happening from moles within their ranks to lack of simple equipment such as night vision goggles.(late Colonel Ali).they aren't in some far away country. We should be able to supply our troops in NIGERIA. [/qjuote] 1. They were supplied by air, which is not d normal routine.why? My guess,is that circumstances did not favor usual routes, for delivery. 2. GOC accompanied d supplies, which means he takes the welfare serious 3.Soldiers are trained to have endurance and improvise in times like these 4. The delay was not more than 48 hours, which means it was not that bad 5. Use of an airforce craft requires clearance from d airforce hierarchy. Though they work together, clearance is still required. Even if u are a general, u cant just walk to a pilot and say "make we de go sambisa". D army general used an airforce platform to deliver supplies, tells me he went to extra miles. Kudos. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Nextprince does have a valid point. We all know that some of these generals do shortchange their men, however, if we are to go by this report, then having a mutiny over a 33-hour delay in supply shows a lack of discipline and the much touted endurance of military men. Except there is more to it tnan meets the eye. But even at that, mutiny is a serious issue. I spent a year on a military base some 13 years ago and I really admired their discipline, order and respect for hierarchy. I guess things don' changed. 1 Like |

nextprince:I had to laugh at ur comment soldiers fight for we civilians. In other countries dey are given the highest form of respect and are paid well for their service. But in naija u train dem like dogs treat dam like dogs then u starve dem and u think dey won't bite. I laugh. For Nigerians to note most military officers in Nigeria treat soldiers like shit in the name of discipline but I always laugh cos the soldier's are more while the officers we so few, the soldiers battle defined why would u then play with their sustenance. 1 Like 1 Share |

niceprof:Guy, how could call war on terrorism a senseless war? Unless you are saying there's no such thing in that part of the country. Stop the war now and in no time you won't be able sit in the comfort of your lovely house when the entire country is taken over by terrorists. This is a war that must be fought and won. |
