I think its because there are a lot of Chinese people.... When you have over a billion people in a country, getting fans to attend and buy stuff like jerseys ain't hard at all

it's funny how you that knows everything about football doesn't not know the meaning of starting place. Mikel doesn't have a starting place at Chelsea. It seems you don't understand how these things work. Mikel is a back up option incase there are injuries or suspensions to the first team players and he's contented with that too, that's why the club never increase his wages they just extend his contract to have him as a back up option and keep him on the bench. Even iheanacho who hasn't spent up to two seasons in England earns more than him. Players have come and gone from Chelsea relegating Mikel to the bench including the likes of Juliano Belleti

actually some of all these chinese clubs are part-owned by the chinese government, and the rest mostly by huge multi-billion multinational companies, unlike in europe where most clubs are owned by a person/people; hence money isn't really an issue. Soccer is now a political something there, the Chinese government are worried that they can send a rocket to space, but can't even beat Thailand in a football match. They want to make their league attractive enough, one of the ways to do that is by importing foreign talent, and the only way a nice enough footballer will swap europe for asia is if u offer him exhorbitant salaries he can't refuse, that is what they are doing. But of course contingencies have been put into place to allow for local talent, soccer schools are been built all over the country, and every club is allowed only 3 foreign players + 1 other player from another asian country max, this allows develpoment of local players.

Mikel ought to be ashame...This is a surprise to me,thought u would remain in Europe and prove people wrong and play ur actual game. But you av never been ambitious or the type to want to improve as a footballer,I don't hate you but you were once second to Lionel Messi. Even the Chinese are offering to pay you 140k per week. That's the Lowest I have heard of, of all the players who moved from Europe to the Far East..ur critics would be laughing @ the wage dey re offering u....if it's even 300k it's ok...Mikel 4rm day 1, u don't av good advisers and good agent...no1 talk to you....wishing u well in diz ur new journey....
Mikel has nothing to prove, he spent more than ten years in Chelsea and the highest his wages reached was 75k, cos he spent the better of those ten years on the bench. Iheanacho currently earns more than that at City with his first contract, he hasn't even spent up to two years.

Listen to yourself, he played with the best indeed, all those you mentioned Mikel was always playing second fiddle to them, Mikel is contented just sitting on the bench he only served as a back up to all those you mentioned, tell me one season when Mikel was first choice at Chelsea, Mikel is immobile, always afraid to take risk. If you pass a ball to Mikel be ready to receive it back cos he's always afraid to take risk, experiment or make mistakes. He's not even useful in parking the bus cos he's very slow and can't orchestrate a counter attack. Why do you think Mikel hasn't moved on since all these days? It's because he's OK as long as he's collecting his 75k a week that has never been increased. Normally good players always find another club if they are not guaranteed first team football. Now he's behind Loftus cheek, Faberegas, Kante, Matic and Chalobah so he's not being sold cos of Matic.

After Andre Villa Boas was sacked in 2012, Mikel played more than 80% games for chelsea. He played against Benfica in the quater final, also he played both legs in the semi final against Barcelona. Then, why did you say Miked played because of suspension in the final?. My brother, Mikel is an unsung hero. Tell me,how many players that spend 11 years in a club? How many players that participate in all Fifa tournaments? How many African players that win accolades than Mikel? How many players that win more trophies for their countries than Mikel? This Mikel lost his place at Chelsea because of you and me and he suceedingly won the bronze medal for us. Can we talk about bringing sliver medal in 2005, afcon trophy 2013 and olympic 2016. As Mikel said 'I can not subsitute my olympic medal for anything. Finally, tell me one Nigerian that won/ win more trophy than mikel for both the country and club. Truly, the guy is an unsung hero
Ximenez:
Yea, and you know so much about football, even more than the past and present Chelsea coaches and to set the record right, I'm a Chelsea fan and i have been for a while now. Please remind me of one unique trait Mikel has as a midfielder, and tell me why Chelsea keep on buying midfielders even when Mikel was available, and tell me why China is only offering him 140k per week if they don't know his worth. Like i said Mikel played the final because of suspensions to Ramires and Meireles.

and you think Mikel played in the champions League final because he is first choice? No my brother. The favorites were suspended for the match. Ramires and Meireles. I still remember Ramires goal against Barcelona (Mikel would have passed that Lampard's through pass backward) I also remember Meireles goal against Benfica, that is cracker of a shot (Mikel doesn't have that technique, everybody knows that)

The CSL is on Startimes and will soon be the most watched league in Africa and even the world in a few years with the way younger stars and great coaches are moving there.

guy when you compare don't include China and Russia. Most clubs in Europe you earn what you are worth, why do you think Sanchez and ozil are yet to sign a new contract, both are demanding for increase, cos they think they deserve it, Azpilicueta's contract was recently extended and his wages was increased too. That you are using the amount Oscar earns in China to compare shows the kind of person you are. When Oscar was at Chelsea was he earning more than those you mentioned?

even if you played 0 game you'll still get your medal as long as you are in the squad. But does that make you a good player? No the point I'm trying to make here is simple. Good players don't sit on the bench and if a coach decides to put a good player on the bench the player will leave and go play first team football elsewhere, even if it's on loan, some players won't even come to your club if you can't guarantee them a start. It's obvious from the nicknames Mikel has accrued over the years from Snail, to slowbi and bench warmer. I'm too lazy right now, of not i would have googled the number of times Mikel started a match for Chelsea (not coming of the bench) the number of times he was on the bench and the number of times he didn't even make the match day squad.
