No offence to the guy but he was wrong. Police asked you to unlock your phone. C'mon show it to them! They have the right to ask to search your phone or belongings. That's why they are policemen. You refusing to open your phone is not right.

However, how you could have had a case is if you were being accused wrongly of being a yahoo boy after your phone has been searched.

The most dangerous Nigerian (including armed robbers) with a gun is a policeman.

I hate these guys with passion, how can you stop someone and start harassing him telling him to open his phone? Freaking bastards, just keep sharing that video and that useless officers name until they get sacked or something.
You never see anything, my brother. A friend of mine lost his life cos of this same unlock your phone thingy at Gbagada. Police, they say, is your friend.

This is a very silly comment. No policeman has a right to ask you to unlock your phone without a proper reason backed up by a warrant. It is like a random policeman badging into your home and ask for a search with no prior case, no warrant, no nothing. It is because mumus like you oblige them that makes them get emboldened to continue such stupid thing. No policeman can ask to see my phone not to talk of unlocking it.

Heard about that shit when I was in Abeokuta for the festive period.

Someone even had to call the State Governor to complain about the whole issue during the media chat.

Can we find a way to solve this? or are there ways we could avoid things like this. Believe it or not these policemen harass people every now and then for stupid reasons and get away with it. If we can find a way to tackle this issue. I have always dreamed of leaving a policeman in shocked at what I can/will do to him. Give us numbers we can call, handles we can tweet to or message to etc. The citizens too must have a voice. we have to fight for each other. Lawyers and people in high places who can help should create a forum for this kind of thing. pls

It's just annoying that some of these useless officers not good enough to pass jss3 waec are given guns to threaten and kill off mostly innocent and responsible Nigerians. They are the main reason I don't take my laptop out again, except it's highly important. Sorry about your friend.

They have no right to check your phone. It's your private property. The IGP had stopped them from checking people's phones randomly and I see no reason why they still do that.

Know your right.

And what if he's not a yahoo boy? Nigga it's a criminal activity, check this story and see things for yourself

That's a yahoo boy o, I guess it's time we start using the right things to dock these thieves in uniforms who call themselves policemen. They don't fight crime, they fight citizens. If you are a policeman, you have no right to check phones. Even your wife at home doesn't check your phone, why check others? Mxm.

Chief, there is nothing you will do to please them. open the phone then watch them fabricate another story. Believe me, those guys are terrible. I don't even give them the chance to come near me again neither do I behave civil with them. you know why? because the Nigerian police system is a failed system. No one will protect you from them if they decide to gang up against you. That's why I protect myself ab initio.

With the few we have, look at what they are doing and FG is recruiting more. Police men are major contributors of the mess Nigeria is in.
