Good day house I need ur help on my batteries I recently noticed electrolyte discharge( fluid and carbon-like substance) from one of my batteries and subsequently a drop in efficiency. Please how do I get a 2v 1000A shoto battery and his much cos I'm optimistic that changing that battery will bring back the efficiency. Thanks in anticipation

If you are getting a gel or AGM battery to off gas (discharge electrolyte), you are overcharging them. That is the quickest way to destroy them. Disconnect them and check each string. Look for the damaged unit, it will have the lowest voltage and then replace it. Pray that the others are not dry. Clean the corrosion of the terminals as well. That affects efficiency.

Okay.
1. 3KVA APC UpS/Inverter: 30,000
2. 4 Units of used 100ah battery: 15k each (back then)
3. 8 units of used100w mono solar panels (got them 25k from a friend)
4. 48v 30A PWM solar charge controller: 15k (I imported)
5. DC breakers 2 units (1000 each)
6. Cables n Cable locks (around 10k)
7. Battery Rack: 8k

I will advise if you decide to tow my path, to replace the used batteries with new batteries. I was lucky to get used batteries in good condition, you may not be.

I turn on my system everyday from 9am and I will pump water, load my fridge, plug all pluggables (laptops, home theater, fans etc) All will run freely from 8am till 3.30pm to 4.00pm. Sometimes, fridge goes off around 2.30pm. Then I turn off my system only to turn on again by 7.00pm and run till next morning (this time around I turn on only what is necessary, no fridge, no laptops, no pumping of water. Just TV, Phones, fans n lighting points.) That is how I have been Living for many months now.

Nice thread
I'd like to know, how many typical household appliances can a panel power.
Solar Panels come in different ratings. For the kind of system we install here in Nigeria you will of necessity connect your panel (whatever rating you buy and rightly installed) to a battery.

It is the energy that is stored in the battery that you use to now power your appliances when needed; through the inverter.
So, the number of appliances you can power is dependent on the rating of you Inverter.
Your battery determines how long that power will last.i.e how much energy you get from it.
The solar panels is what charges your battery. The more the panels the faster the battery gets charged.

I have this battery that comes with a charger and distributor that I use on my laptop. The charger got fried but the battery is okay.

Model: LiFePo4 - 480WH/12VDC
Capacity: 480WH
Voltage: 9~14.6VDC
Charger: 5A 14.6V CC-CV Mode

I can't find the battery charger to buy, how do I use solar panel to charge the battery? What type of solar panel can I use? Any chance of using the battery energy on socket/cross(that long wire with charger ports) to charge my phone and laptop?

Re: Thread For Solar System/Electricity Owners in Nigeria. by DMerciful(m): 6:39pm On Jan 11, 2017
Lithium batteries can be dangerous if not charged with the right charger. i will advice you get the right charger...check aliexpress. there are some solar charge controllers that can be programmed to deliver a wide range of charging voltages....you just need to get the right charging voltages for your battery from the manufacturer of the battery

Hi, Macodollar

to know more about the brand you can make a google search on Kung Long batteries, i believe you will get to know alot about it.

Established in 1990,Its the largest battery manufacturer in Taiwan with its production in Vietnam. In 2002 , it became the only SLA battery manufacturer listed in the Taiwan Stock Exchange.

In 2003 Kung Long Enterprise USA was set Up in California, make a search on amazon.com and you will be amazed on how many pages will popup with the Long batteries.

its been in the Nigeria market for more than 10 years ,its UPS battery(5ah,7ah,9ah,18ah) comes with the APC by Schneider and Emerson Electric UPS, its considered one of the best batteries for UPS. The Long UPS batteries are so efficient that in nigeria , the ones removed from the APC UPS still have a second hand value, some engineers told me they prefer them to some of the new Chinese batteries.

So i really don't think its an unknown brand.

Hello everyone, nice thread so far.
My passion for renewable and sustainable energy knows no bound.. though I am still an undergraduate in one of the Federal Universities in Southwest, Nigeria.
I have read virtually everything one needs to read about Solar Energy, watched virtually every youtube video. But i would really love to get first hand field experience.
I am in my penultimate year in school studying Physics... I look forward to starting my Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme(SIWES) also known as IT soon.
I am in dire need of a reputable Solar Energy Company in Lagos, Nigeria for SIWES placement .
I would really appreciate any help from my bosses here..
Thanks in advance

Firstly, I want to tell you and everyone Interested that Inverter is not actually a total replacement to Ac power supply. 2.4kva can power Some fridge unit but it will tell on your 2units of battery with in a short period of time.
A good alternative is to integrate a SOLAR system into the existing unit.

Yes, @White Consult we install Power & Solar inverter
