Good Afternoon,

I need assistance of the nairalanders especially the lawyers to guide me through the process of filing a divorce and get my child back.

We got married last june and since i got married to my wife, and since then she has been displaying madness of highest order ranging from destroying my phones, laptop, tearing of money(when i give her incomplete money to buy stuff in the house),removing her clothes(completely unclad) to curse me,looking for bottles and knife to harm me,locking me out of the bedroom and so on.

I have decided to abandon her in the house since a month ago because the way her violence is going it may degenerate to a point where she may mistakenly kill me, and the ways she has been handling the my baby is very disturbing, at times she will throw the baby away just because she wants to fight me.

Please Help me on the procedure to recover my baby because she has taken the baby to her mother who lives in a very dirty environment and bad for good child up brining.

Bros you and your DW are part of the reasons I don't bother my head so much about marriage anymore. Between June and now, you guys have over-weathered the storm! Biko, what were you two doing during your courtship? The times I say to myself that if idioots are getting married, what's stopping me from doing same are long over...yeah, any untowards person will continue not to jive with me until I find my friend! When love, attractions and whatever leave, at least you have friendship and respect to fall back on.


Whew! No vex, back to you matter...Opt for mediation first. Divorce is costly, ugly and final! It is well.

Do you think you can contact a marriage counselor instead of a divorce lawyer? Can you try that at-least... I am just saying this because of the child involved....You and your wife might get selfish and divorce each other........Then U will get married again one day....she too might decide to get involved with a man again....and both of you forgot entirely who got caught up on this mess which was the innocent child that did not asked to be born by you too...

I know how stepmothers are to kids that were not theres... except she was heaven sent....Can you just try a professional marriage counselor please...I did not say you should go to a pastor or any religious personnel that might condemn you already without listening to you...I mean a qualified professional ..

Try to first get your child before you file for divorce because she might harm the child in a fit of rage. First work with the social welfare office before you file for divorce.

You however did not discuss why your wife is going to these extreme's. I think you are provoking and irritating her. Most likely cheating with everything that walks. Don't think divorce will make the next woman act different. Change your ways because her reaction seems like that of a very frustrated woman. A woman with mental issues is not likely to go to this extreme without provocation

Even those kinds still get to court...strike some friendship with the person you are expected to spend the rest of your life with. A chick that wants to scatter ground like that can't successfully hide that trait if he was in her face during courtship. It is well.

Well people act differently when they are pushed to frustration. For a woman to strip naked and curse a man tells a lot. A woman that is mentally unstable will not have emotional connection to a man to care about stripping naked and cursing him with her unclothedness. That alone shows that this man may not be a very nice man. Divorce will not be a solution to his problem as he may push the next woman to kill him. He needs to work on himself and look inward. People don't just change like that. If she was mentally unstable to this extent, she would have shown it. Mentally unstable people have no control over their mental outbursts. What I sense from his narrative is an emotionally abused and frustrated woman.

Very intelligent as well, but what I am saying is just look at your comment, the use of the terms 'may and can' suggest the possibility of alternative opinions, theories or explanations. That is why we have such words as insecurity, depression, irrationality, and a lot more that can lead to opposing theories.

very intelligent remark. touche'. Yes we know divorce is supposed to be detested, but people should not overindulge their emotions while commenting on someone's thread like some here. He says he wants suggestions on how to get custody of his child and people are here remonstrating on why he shouldn't go for a divorce. If he wanted opinion on how to salvage his marriage, he would have asked for it. I have read through all these, only few comments have suggested much on how he could get his son back. Oga, if you can get a computer generated evidence( e.g video or picture) of how your child's life is endangered by the woman, it can be of great assistance to you. If possible, try to have documents showing you have been taking care of the child such as receipts( even if say na pure water you buy for am). These will help if you can provide them. Get a good lawyer and file.

this is exactly what happened during our courtship
