Me with my strong 2.1math/comp.sci still here jobless, if na to pray i don turn to prayer warrior all to no avail but I still blv God can do it, I've attended some interviews only to meet like 50 applicants (some with experience) on one/two positions hmmm also no even 20k to start any business

Clearly not true! Lots of people still get good jobs without "connections" especially in the private sector.

Change your mindset!

Send out your CV as if your life depends on it! Don't restrict yourself to a particular job sector or location. Continue to network.

Some people even think you can only gain admission into a University with "connection".

This is true

Why are u waiting for what is not available? Must u be an employee?

Don't mind the OP.

That's usually how you know a wasted youth: Always thinking that someone owes him or her a job.

If you can't get a job, why don't you try to start one yourself?

Lamenting about whether connection works or not is not going to save your situation.

Just like having a STRONG 2.1 which you must have now seen is completely USELESS.

Look around you now Mr. OP.

Is there anything you can do with what you already know or the skills you already possess?

That's how you get yourself a job.

No offense , but I am bit disappointed this is coming from a Comp Sci student ,I dont mean to sound harsh but the world has evolved to a point that people who studied any thing that has to do with computers should'nt be looking for a job.Especially Computer Science !!!! .
If you didn't do cram and pour , and you actually understand what computer science is and its practical basics .And you actually earned your degree on merit .
Look for a problem around you and use programming to solve it ,and you would never be broke again.
I am a programmer who studied EE ,so you are in a better position to succeed .
The sky is always your starting point .
Learn to stop thinking salary and 9-5 would solve your problems .
4dor is also right .
Dont give up, you can do it !!

Sometimes I don't blame these guys, I blame our educational system.

Most of these guys don't do practicals in school, they are not taught how to apply what they have learned in real life, so when they graduated they start looking for job, only a few can.

I know of a guy studying computer engineering in school that can not identify the problem of his own laptop, he had to bring it down for repair, the way he loose the laptop, you will know he is a learner..

I ask him why and he said, lecturers don't give a F., they are the ones helping themselves by hiring an engineer to teach them practicals.

I'll suggest that after school, they should enroll for a 6 month -1 year training on practicals.

You're talking about programming, you're not sure if he is good at any programming language, because one have to be proficient in any of the language before he can hired or do anything meaningful with it..

Bro, don't let anybody talk you down. Keep applying, be open to roles you've not considered before. Review your CV and cover letter make them flawlessly brilliant.

Let me share a testimony. This time last year I was still cooling off in my parents house after a BSc and a UK masters. I was home for two whole years after my MSc, but to God be the glory today I'm in my own rented apartment tastefully furnished and I'm getting paid handsomely doing my dream job. Next now na car & marriage things grin

Life changes in a twinkle of an eye. Believe and don't stop trying.

Exclude a laptop, most of the needed tools are free. If you can't use some MB to download them, you can get them from friends in same field.

U shouldn't have done that.
Though we don't know who might help, but I'm sure some of them would want to invest in it.

What u should have done is give them insights not the full plan. Or u guys meet one on one before relaying such info

@OP, the solution to your problem is on the inside of you if you had those credentials you mentioned. I graduated with 2.2 in botany but I got a job in a redundant federal commission that reduces salaries without circular to why it happened. I had to start working on fiverr to keep my family together despite the 70+ I collect every month it doesn't solve my problem it only pay my monthly bills and food but I earn *2 of that from the little computing I learned myself. I can boast in God today that am better of than last year when I never started fiverr full time. I have USA clients that give me works on a rolling basis but no one would believe I studied botany- PLANT SCIENCE. ?

So all what you are saying is that computer science is just about programming?..... I bet you are very wrong with this.

niccur has strong 2.1 in maths.... He failed to understand that mathematics is a weakness to some students.. He failed to realize he can organize tutorial classes and get paid..

Come to uniport and u see posters of those offering tutorial services ... I went to a classroom and asked what was happening and I was told that it was a tutorial class, as sharp guy wey I be I asked her how much is d guy collecting she said 300naira.. I looked at the strength of the class it was more Dan 50 students.. I told myself yes this guy is a hustler...

And do u even know what? He is still a student like them... Not even a graduate...

Its well

You never can tell who will help him amongst those he is sending to, stop putting ideas in his head. A proposal is meant to be a draft of his intentions and plan rather than something one can easily "steal"

But if he had been selling akara in that wasted one year, I think he would be able to afford a laptop by now even if it's a cheap or used one.

I understand you well friend, I can recommend many motivational books for you, but without your determination and focus, it won't go far. My advice, Be your "motivator", nobody can motivate you better than yourself.

This might work for you: vacate your "comfort zone", make friends with likeminds.

sometimes we just tend to undermine certain jobs and look down on those who do them.. When the truth of the matter is that they are even earning more than the graduate who thinks its a job for d poor... He doesnt even need a job.. He has a talent and he should make use of it.

If you dont get to the point where you are jobless for a long time and searching seriously to no avail, you won't understand/believe when they say your grades don't matter. Even after getting a job, you would still undergo training, no matter how good your result was. Keep trying. You may have to lower your standards regarding what you're willing to do and how much you are willing to collect for your services +not all businesses require monetary capital.

So THINK THINK AND THINK, That 20k for business may not come o walahi, been there before and I know what am saying, but you have a laptop (am sure of that), you have battery? you have small gen? what are you waiting for?
