EgunMogaji:

I purposefully traveled mid-week, I had my truck delivered to Lagos on the way in and I drove down and there was zero traffic jams.

Construction is actively ongoing, workers are actually there doing work. I didn't take any pictures because it was rather uneventful.

That being said, I wouldn't drive it at night. So many construction dangers, lane switches, open pits all abound so on the way back I opted for a car hire.
Thank you, many times we are told work is on going in that axis. I drove through the road January last year on my way to Kwara state, second time in 25 years. I was surprised the road was better 25 years earlier. I ask myself where was the projects that we're told is on going all these years. Except some area that was done, some stretch left, continue again in other stretch's. I keep wondering why? Another big surprise to me was another road somewhere around Oshogbo, that we cut through from Ilobu to hit that short road. I saw another new road that I was told it constructed half way abandoned since Obasejo regime around Oyo that suppose to link Kwara State. Pls don't get me wrong oh. I'm not saying everywhere is bad, it's just my road trip experience to that end. I also saw some nice highway somewhere around Ibadan to Oshogbo and other places to Ilorin. May God help us Amin.

I also drove on that Ilobu short highway... I wonder why that highway never linked Osogbo to Ibadan-Ife Highway. I had to take part of that highway on my way to my wife's town of Ado-Ekiti. It was a very nice highway but it was a short trip before we turned to Ilesha-Ado-Ekiti way.
Our Govt like to waste money with abandon project in Nigeria o. God save us.

My brother you no need application for the loan, just get someone to take you to Engineer Yakubu county home in sabo tasha Kaduna south not far from NNPC Kaduna . A lot of dollars still dey there, with very low interest rate. You no need collateral, just tell them you're from EFCC office. I am sure you will walk out with bag full of dollar.

I dislike tiles with passion, but there isn't much alternatives nowadays in Nigeria. I Like the good old "Talazo" but its scares to find people still in that trade. Carpet collect too much dust. The stain floor is ridiculous in Nigeria cost-wise. Wood floor gets scratches easily from sandy foot. But Nigerians love their tile like white on rice!. If its renter project, you better give them their tile ooo

EgunMogaji:

And some of us don't even want tile. It seems like Nigerians are equating tiles with class, just like they do duplexes grin

Give me a stained concrete floor and a few Persian rugs and I'll be a happy camper.

A quality Nigerian paint is my first choice but the issue is that I do not live in country so I need to do this research online by asking for references.

A guy called Gbadexy is on this forum. Another guy called Trumpcoat is here but have not seen his posts in over a year.

Outside here there is a company called Intercolor paints. http://www.intercolorng.com

They usually have their color range but can produce any color you chose from elsewhere. For Intercolor it has to be up to 5 nos. of 20 liters buckets. Not sure about Gbadexy and Trumpcoat.

Any colour can be matched if there is a physical sample to match it with. Although, there can never be a 100% match. Just as there can never be a perfect match of two different batches.
That's the reason batch numbers are indicated on them.

Which is why I look at folks who try to ridicule me for buying naija tiles with pity.

I don't care if it's made by the pope himself in Sicily , any tile on my project is a second choice.

please tell me what can be done here if you know. On my second floor front yard (terrace), I placed tiles there but the people living there use it to gym. So they always place there gym on tiles and it gets cracked. In the process water lodges through cracks and leaks downstairs directly in the room below it when it rains.

I'm suggesting using this rubber tiles to cover the ceramic tiles but do I need some sort of glue to glue it down on the tiles and would it stick or just place them ?

I do have gallon of very dark sealant used for shingles but I don't know if this may stick on the rubber?
. I think you should send a pix of the damage( top an bottom view).

Good info. But the Legendary Mr. Trumpcoat who happens to be a friend has been dead for over one year now. The family did not want it broadcasted then.
But Gbadexy is still here and have been supplying a lot of Nairalanders including myself.

Question for you guys.

On your gateman house, did you buy security doors and windows or did you use regular ones?

Also, what tasks do you expect from him (yes him, sorry feminists though I've seen some women in Nigeria that no thief would dare attack grin ), especially for those of us that are not living onsite yet so no gate to open, etc?

Thanks.

I used chinese door but regretted it as constant rain has damaged it. When replacing it in 2018 i will use fabricated steel doors.

Mai Gard opens gate and washes cars. Goes on easy errands like pay NEPA bill etc. Sweeping of compound is done by a lady cleaner.
