Lagos State House Of Assembly Member Asks FG To Stop Airing BB Nigeria,

A member of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Segun Olulade, has called on the Federal government to direct the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission NBC to stop airing the reality TV show, Big Brother Nigeria.

In a statement released today, Olulade who is the Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Health Services, said the show is not in anyway promoting the African values. According to him, the content of the show is aline to the values and culture of Nigeria. His statement in part reads;

“We have culture and tradition in this country that we must not allow to die. The Federal Government, through the Minister of Information and Culture, needs to reconsider the implications of Big Brother Naija on our culture and youths. The content of Big Brother Naija reality show is alien to our culture. This show is contrary to the rich cultural values we are trying to promote and bring to the front burner. It is sad that our young children including adults are made to watch such content. This kind of programme promotes obscenity and immorality. We must not encourage such if our hallowed cultural heritage would be preserved. We cannot prevent our inquisitive young ones from watching the obscene displays that permeate the show. I think the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) should, without delay, stop this programme if this government means business in the promotion of our cultural values. The show does not add any value to our education, social and economic life. It is a big mockery of Nigerian culture and tradition. I will want to urge all parents and guardians to be on their guard and guide their children and wards aright on what they watch on TV. The implication of allowing the children to keep watching this show can be negative. Our children should not be allowed to be corrupt because this may affect their future aspiration,”

Same ol nonsense vomit coming from valueless hypocrites talking about African values. What is the definition of African values? African values seem to be "the things we do and which we want the world to see." Cos whenever people do the things which we all do behind closed doors, we suddenly start hearing hypocritical statements like 'African values.'

Besides, there are over 50 stations to watch on DSTV and a subscriber has the liberty to choose not to have the BBN station. But some people want to kill themselves on top a a single station which they have the freedom to ignore.

Lawmaker scores Lagos Water Corporation low

A Lagos State lawmaker, Mr Saka Fafunmi, on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction at the performance of the state Water Corporation.

Fafunmi, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), said in Ikeja that the corporation had not been able to justify statutory allocations to it.

The lawmaker, who represents Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 1 at the assembly, spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said that the corporation had the capacity to generate much fund internally through water rates but had relied solely on government funding because of poor performance.

'' Anyone that is using water will be willing to pay for it; the corporation has not been giving us water.

"Is there any new community that Water Corporation has given water? People depend on boreholes; even government estates have industrial boreholes.

"Why do we keep pumping money into an agency that does not give us the desired results?'' he asked.

He noted that the Adiyan Waterworks was located at Ifako-Ijaiye, where many of the residents had resorted to digging boreholes as a means of getting water.

''A lot of people are falling sick because they don't drink clean water.

''In the same compound, where you have sewage, is where you have a borehole.

''There is no way you can manage the sewage that it will not leak and pollute the water; everyone drinking such is drinking contaminated water,'' he said.

The lawmaker urged the corporation to increase water reticulation and supply to residents.

what doesn't promote immorality in this country, i'm not an advocate of bbn, but, banning the show would'nt still in any way reduce the amount of immorality in naija, immorality dwells in the heart and those who practise it will still seek it elsewhere when the show is banned.

9jakohai:
There is a reason why.

The reason is, quite bluntly, to protect the children.

Now, many parents with DSTV know this phrase....Parental Guidance button. All they have to do is to press that button, and their kids viewing is clean and safe.(Some parents don't even need to press the Parental Guidance button...because their kids know that if they venture to a 18+ site, their parents will know...even if their parents are not physically with them watching the television.....)

But some parents have a, shall we say, freethinking view to their children's TV viewing. Some have uncles and aunties living with them and their kids. And when the parents are out...the aunty or uncle will switch to BBN....with the kids around in the house.

And let's be frank...some kids just love to be like the adults....it makes them look cool to their peers and all(Especially in the gossip stakes at school next week).

But the major worry is that little Junior or little Perpetua might see what Gifty was up to on the channel, and might decide to reenact the stuff with some child who never saw the thing. And you know where that ends....(not well, am afraid).

So, as you are enjoying BBN....remember that such entertainment carries the risk of harm. And if someone is calling for its ban (I ain't..)...it is because he or she wants to minimize that harm....not because he or she is some prudish ascetic who has never seen the opposite sex in fifty years.
If you have a decoder there is such word as parental lock

Sex portraited and nudity show with no sense of impact at all.
They are just disgracing this country for crying out loud. South Africa almost turning Nigerians to sex slaves and aired live on TV.

so my sister, a friend and I were taking a ride, and my sister was browsing through my friend's phone which have loads of porn videos. After sitting quietly for about 40min, she said in a low condemning voice, "Anthony, see the kind of movie you are keeping on your phone, na wa o". I then ask, "jenny, is that why you have been quiet this whole time"?......she blushed. grin

Which constituency does Segun Olulade represent
What is the condition of primary health centres and general hospitals in the area?
Do they have enough

- doctors,
- pharmacists,
- nurses
- laboratory technicians
- drugs and reagents
- administrative staff
- equipment

to cater for his constituents who queued to vote and send him to Alausa to make sure they have these things in abundance that will also generate EMPLOYMENT for youths in the area and beyond
Hopefully they are not in the deplorable condition like the one below =>

What is the performance record of Thief'nuibu cabal on health care for Lagos state in the past 16 years?

Beyond the paparazzi of photo-ops we know that the General Hospital in Epe, the original home constituency of Speaker Ikuforiji is in tatters and such a deplorable condition:

Beyond the physically deteriorating situation with many of the health facilities, the working conditions for the doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lab technicians etc is nothing to write home about hence regular strikes. However our excellent governor's reaction is to sack them and ferry his sick father abroad for treatment:

******************************************************

Since Fashola spuriously claims he sacked the doctors to protect public interest, we should ask: If the governor is to protect the people, why did he send his own father abroad for treatment? Why are the necessary medical equipment not available in Lagos hospitals since we have medical experts that can treat his father here?
"Why has he resorted to the use of incompetent 'referral doctors' who are being enticed with a wage twice what they ought to have been paid if they are in regular employment? CONMESS fully, according to the Lagos NMA, would cause just additional N33.5 million monthly, compared to its looting spree to line private hands and profiteers," the statement reads in part.

**************************************************

Not forgetting that the JagbaJantis head of the cabal himself na to dey go obodo oyinbo each time body dey pain am small:

Why should we entrust ourselves to these LOOTocrats who have failed woefully to deliver on their promise to Lagosians these past 16 years?

- How many doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lab technicians, hospital administrators are recruited annually for a state whose IGR has increased over 53 times since 1999?
- How many hospital beds and clinic consulting rooms plus equipment have been added despite annual budgets increased over 10 times since 2000?

We deserve much better than this bunch of Smooth Criminals have provided for 16 years of mismanagement and maladministration!

we are talking about a show and you are talking about arms of government, any let ms not even talk about the absurd comparism, but as a country that is plagued with a lot of things on all fonts, don't you think we should be more concerned about things that will contribute to our collective growth, instead of sitting our asses and wasting away in Front of the TV, it's supposed to be work before you relax, not the other way round, imagine a developing country like Nigeria investing in entertainment not just entertainment for real talent o,but for porn
Lastly, they said the show is like a socio cultural experiment to promote human interaction or whatever , can you tell me how that panned out so far?
