ISTANDWITHBUHAR: Funny u mentioned that hospital. I wanted to post story about it but didn't think anyone would care. Apparently vanguard said it fully operational now but doesn't seem to be getting to much press. https://www.nairaland.com/3669730/ibom-specialist-hospital-antidote-medical |

saintmark88: Ok let's see. The Senate's law should over rule exuative order by any standards. They'll appear in front of committee and wI'll have hands tied of there's no law on their side. |

Blue3k: Unfortunately we are witnessing the consequences of the rot both at the ports and boarders in part, and the corrupt nature of people. Vehicles that passed through the ports without paying duties are hurting the system; there is no other way to spin it. The Senate is just trying to play coy or seeking for unnecessary attention. "Collaboration" with the ports itself hurts the system and needs to be eliminated. That some corrupt custom officials allowed cars into the country with fake papers, regardless of the numbers is no justification to halt a process of the law trying to correct the system. What are the implications? 1. Loss of revenue to the government 2. Negative image to the country 3. Bad for economy and business - We have not properly envisioned the value we erode in our ports and border, Singapore probably makes as much as we make from oil, through their ports. A multiple approach to the system is sure welcome. Yes we need to address corrupt customs, but we also need to "discourage" people that benefit from the process. |
