Hi friends. I am considering buying one any moment.
Can these boxes play offline Android games?at least for my son to enjoy good games.
Can these boxes be connected to external dish free to air without itches?
Can it work with LCD TV and not smart TV?
Are they HD features?
If there is no internet , is it still useful?
Please suggest the one that also hv such features if any. I am trying to get one.

Hi, I don't have any games on my own box set at the moment, but from videos I've watched so far, installing games wouldn't be a problem which of course you can use offline. It works just the way your phone ordinarily does while you play your games offline.

The essence of the box really is to do away with your cable dish in the long-run or at best serve as an additional content provider and so why do you contemplate a connection?

Having a Smart TV only ups your possibilities e.g. installing the m3u playlists to use on the IPTV feature and a few others. But then, the good old LCD TV will work just fine with any regular Android TV box. Just make sure the TV has the HDMI port for connection with the box. Though some boxes use the traditional AV cables (the red, yellow and white cables) for connecting to the TV, I will shy away from those anytime, any day as the HDMI will always give you better picture clarity. To prove this, check out the Dstv Zapper or Explorer decoder.

Any good TV box worth its salt will give you HD or even 4K features. You only need to do your research properly by sieving through the myriads of TV boxes available out there that meet your needs. I advice you buy a box that comes with the Android OS version 6.0 and above.

Without the Internet, well you can still play your games. And just like @iliyande said, his own kinda box could give you access to some free to air channels if the right connections are made.

There are lots of TV boxes out there to choose from based on factors like price, specifications, etc. Download the AliExpress app on your Android phone and search with the keywords "Android TV box' and you'd be amazed with what you're presented.

Enjoy,

You're welcome, anytime. For me, acquiring the Android TV box was a way of getting rid of DSTV. I used to do the Compact bouquet which costs 6k/month and I'm sure you know how boring DSTV can be most times.

Let nobody kid you, a good Internet service will make the experience pleasurable. I'm not limited in any way as I have access to unlimited downloads via my internet service provider. So, Internet access is one key component you need to consider wisely in weighing your options.

Exploring the Android TV box I got recently has continued to prove interesting as the days go by. Basically, I got it because I was tired of the boring nature of DSTV.

Ever since taking delivery, I have tried all manner of apps/apks ranging from the free ones like UKTVNow, SolidStreamz, Mobdro, LiveNETTv all for Live TV down to the paid apps like SETTV, NitroTV, LEDTV and CastTV. What I have noticed like others too might have is that the free apps aren't so reliable.

At the moment, I subscribed to a 1-month access to SETTV which costs $20/month. I did this after trying out their 3-day trial offer. But just today after receiving the setup details for a 1-day trial offer from CastTV and then setting it up using the Perfect Player app downloaded from Google PlayStore, I must say I'm really impressed with the quality of the channels on their platform.

I just might continue with CastTV once my subscription to SETTV expires. This will take care of the live TV while apps like ShowBox, Terrarium, MegaboxHD, HDOnline will take care of my movie needs.

I'd very much love and appreciate it if anyone could hook me up with any other app/apk I haven't tried out so far. Cheers

@cavendishPlex: I am back to Lagos, I installed solidstreamz yesterday and was wowed by the experience. From experience what apps and addons can you recommend? The content in solidstreamz alone looks unbelievable had to watch 2 movies to be sure. DSTV would gather some dust.

You're welcome back to Lasgidi. Lucky you that SolidStreamz worked on your box. I have only just opened it for the first time after a long while after reading your comment cos it crashes anytime I try to go out of any channel back to the main menu. Besides, the channels freeze like crazy. This isn't fun for me.

At the moment, I paid for the IPTV called SETTV which cost $20 (N6,400 using my GTB card) and my subscription expires on May 10 after which I'm going to try out something else. There are a couple of other paid IPTVs I'm assessing like NitroTV, LEDTV, CastTV. Of all, CastTv is my favourite cos I tried it out for 2 days and it was awesome with fantastic HD picture quality. Freezing of channels was least experienced on it unlike others. The only problem I'm having with them is the mode of payment. Their system isn't quite developed to accept debit/credit cards yet. Just IBAN numbers and some other details of which I can't shout if the transaction goes south.

Personally, I'm not a KODI fan. Have you tried LiveNetTV, Mobdro, UKTVNow, New CloudTV (all for live TV), HDOnline, Terrarium, Newest Movies HD, Movies HD, MegaBox HD, ShowBox (all for your favourite movies and TV shows) and also TVNow (download this from Google PlayStore for your Nigerian/foreign channels like GalaxyTV, Silverbird, Channels, LTV, DW, Al Jazeera, VOA, etc)?

Lest I forget, what TV box did you get?

Luckily for me, I use an ISP called KKontech that has its fibre optics cable running through my estate in Gbagada which costs just N10,500 per month and gives me unlimited access to the Internet. I don't mean unlimited in the sense that Spectranet and Smile want you to believe where they throttle down your speed as you hit a threshold. I mean true unlimited.

Get the AliExpress app downloaded on your Android phone. You'd get prices usually lower on the app than you'd get when you browse on a regular computer. At least that I've come to realise.
