Now , I don't live in the USA so I can't tell wat illegals go through but in the uk they can get a job not legally though, and the smart ones will work 80 hrs a week quickly buy a small plot , build a one goat for their family back home . Getting in illegally does not mean one will never be legal. Once u are in u start to walk the ropes to settlement like millions of illegals before u.

I think the culture in the USA is more favorable to illegals compare to UK, as long as the individual stay away from the South and closer to the East and also stay away from crime...something as stupid as driving while drunk or under the influence (could be prescription medication, tired while driving, sleeping while driving, etc ... driving under any influence period!), can be a stumbling block.

U re right. One thing I am sure life abroad sweet cos one thing u will experience is constant power. God for me is like a dream. But i must tell u that life tho sweet is not easy. U ve high taxes, bills before u talk of spare for yourself. U can be sure ur taxes wud be well utilized to provide social services and d bills u pay are what u re served. Jobs are increasingly becoming hard and in some places where the official language is not English that one na another challenge. Also on job if u ve nothing to do then u might be sent back as u cant be on their social security unless u ve stayed long enough to get permanent residency or luckily citizenship and note that immigration, residency or citizenship requirements varies from country to country. The major advantage that makes u appear big is the currency value when compared to d weak naira.
Life abroad makes u realize that Nigeria is a zoo or a jungle governed by goats and other beasts in d palatial government houses. If u want to go abroad fine if u ve d money and u ve something tangible to go for if not u may end up wasting ur hard earned money to process visa u will never get. Also, i must remind u that these re not d best of times for some countries with respect to d refugee crisis caused by d Syrian conflict as well as Yemen, Iraq and Afghnistan. Why u still there if there are no jobs over there. so you want to compare Nigeria rate of unemployment to there with just that one guy?

Note:Each country has it's own rate of unemployment but Nigeria's own is 61% high with our population contributing more of youths...you can't compare any western European country or America with the rate of unemployment here.

I think the idea is simple. Just be prepared before you leap, period.
There may be more jobs overseas than in Nigeria, but you need a means to get to the jobs and shelter of course. Would you take a job where the total amount you make is not enough to put a roof on your head? Would you take a job you can't get to because you don't have a car, and buses dont run everywhere like in Nigeria? All that could be mitigated with proper planning before hopping on the plane.

People discourage people for various reasons but personally it's not good. The thing is come and see when u see u will decide ur option. But migrating take a lot of thinking especially if one is going as illegal u don't know when u will be legal and u dont know when u can have access to see ur families back home they may be dead before one returns. Majority of our fellow Nigerians are a bunch of free loaders. You take them in for a month or two, without pay and even treat them like family, all for them to steal, possibly destroy things out of jealousy. Little appreciation while expecting one to treat them like queens and kings ( Mostly relatives), talk crap behind one's back and try acting ( lying ), like they live a glamorous life back in Nigeria.

I just miss home

The real irony is that the money spent to go abroad (many trips to embassy, visa, ticket, living expenses) could start a very good business here. If you can gather 1M, why the hell are you going to obodo oyinbo? You will make so much more from that 1M in business. But of course, we all want jobs jobs jobs... I had to sign in after 10years to comment on this distasteful thread. First, every one has a prerogative whether to help you or not. Even if one chooses not to help because of competition, it's their right. Nevertheless, IN America people barely have time for themselves not to talk of someone else. Parents live in the same city with their children but they don't see for months because of crazy schedule.

Secondly, I came to study in America six years back, and it didn't take two weeks before reality set in and I cried. I graduated two years after and I didn't get a job. Six months being jobless, I took up a dish washer job clearing plate for my mates who graduated with me. From there, I did laborer job, building stores and from there I did Valet, with MY Masters degree in Engineering and Bachelors in Electrical Engineering ( First Class, Best Graduating Student from Nigeria). Living on tips from people. All this was to pay house rent. As old as I am, I cry steady at night. Regretting I made a wrong choice coming here. But I couldn't return home just like that so I had to persevere ND pray to God to help me.

Interestingly, I helped a student from Nigeria to squat with me before she got her place. In less than a week, she was smoking Marijuana and worse off brought a guy to the house and the were snagging on my bed. My landlord, was mad about the weed and kicked us both out of the house. Helping someone got me homeless, as I couldn't afford to pay rent by myself. My sister, I sleep for Library for one week and God helped me. Even after I got my papers, I couldn't get a good job until recently. Imagine, 6 years! I thank God I am Inot a better place now but I have a credit card debt of $35,000. This is largely because I fell I'll and was uninsured. Infact them don carry me go court. While about 3,000 I used it to eat. So, when i start getting paid, I have to pay off my debt else interest will stack up to twice the amoint i owed. It is not easy!

My friend paid for marriage 15,000$ , two years after she withdrew his immigration petition. Imagine after hustling, pay and the money goes d9wn the drain. The guy is.now illegal and wants to commit suicide. Na beg we dey beg am. He doesn't have a steady job, and now he can't get work permit.
