How can Nigerians in diaspora help Nigerians in Nigeria to migrate?

They are not customs and immigration na.

Nobody will be open about helping especially if the person to be helped is trying to do something illegal.

For example, anybody will be selective about who he or she will recommend for a job in their office and you will make sure that their CV and their behavior is correct.

There's possibility of Nigerians helping fellow Nigerians but we have got bad attitude and racking brains towards each other. Nigerian have bad reputation here in UK. I see how Zimbabwes help themselves here. why would ours be different and that boils down to why we don't want to help cos the story will never end.

Lemme start blowing my whitlse

Nigeria is a hell hole jare, nepotism and tribalism is killing us,
a first class graduate without connection will probably not get a good job, but a person without WAEC certificate will end up being PRESIDENT.

The second person to comment have already answered your question nicely, but let me add to it, only if Nigerians will be truthful to themselves they will realize that abroad is just mare hype. Let me talk about USA, to me American Dream is just a mirage. I usually tell my friends not to move if they have a good job. Then most of them used to ask me why do I not come back if it's so bad, well I came back now I live in Nigeria. And am happy.

Will your friends talk about Migrating in the first place if they have good jobs

Thank you dear.

Let me add something. I know at least a dozen people who have lived here for 15 to 25 years and have not visited 9ja once. I'm sure you can imagine the main reason why they cannot visit. Meanwhile, relatives in 9ja believe they are gallivanting here.

Somebody I warned about potential difficulties here if coming is not planned properly has spent over 10 years here now. No means to visit 9ja till now. Back then she dismissed my warning as not wanting to help. Not seen her kids in 9ja for over 10 years now.
over ten years!!!! People have advice me to travel abroad because of the recession but I don't have a plan and I'm always very scared of settling in a different reality from what one watch on t.v.
Going abroad to me is fr Biz only,a British guy opened my eyes on so many opportunities, only few Nigerians uses it. I keep wondering how do blacks survive competing with the white folks in their home country.

Does living abroad automatically make one a charity organisation?
The person you're asking to pay other people's hospital bills, and buy uniforms, has he finished paying all the debts he's in abroad?

No but when you look at it from the economic perspective of FOREIGN EXCHANGE ADVANTAGE , usually a little above a token (from diaspora) would translate to mean MUCH MORE back home.

My take on this issue.
Most Nigerians think Coming abroad is the end to their problems and frustrations, so we just simply point out the facts, that's not discouragement.
And yes, there are lots of bills to pay, in Nigeria you can do without paying most of the bills, credit card not in the West.

Secondly, most Nigerians aspiring to come don't have a clear immigration plan, no legitimate plan set, the just want to cross and and FIND THEIR WAY (we all know what that means, mostly Illegal activities) , I also advise against this mentality.

What makes some of us look a bit rich when we come to Nigeria, is the FOREX EXCHANGE, with $6000 saved up, when we change the money to Naira, money go full everywhere.
This same $6000 can't even pay for a good decent apartment in NY for a year.. But it can pay for 3-5 years rent in Lekki, Ikoyi, Asukoro in Nigeria.

Now a case study.
The messed up Naira, really Makes Nigerians in diaspora look so successful. Especially if the Nigerian is very conscious in his/her saving and remittance of money to Nigeria.
You could be earning 18 dollars per hour/30-40 hours a week. 18*30= 540.
540 dollars is over 150k in Naira.
How many Nigerians earn the 150k per month, not to talk about per week.

@bebe2 you live here in the UK right?

This is what i want you to do..start a thread in this section and invite any Nigerian interested in moving to the UK to live and work then guild them on how to do it LEGITIMATELY

I promise to moderate that thread so that it will not be derailed.

These are the conditions:

1. It shouldn't be used to encourage people to circumvent immigration rules

2. No dropping of contact details or 'pm me for further details'.

3. No agency discussion.

Deal?

I would love to immigrate to the UK . Plus start the thread.

Yea they do, they are all sailors, mostly captains. The least earned $3000 a month working with shell petroleum then. But the glamour of coming to USA almost blinded them before I opened their eyes.

Now his wife have given birth to all his children here. And those kids always come here for medical checkups that cost tax payers a lot. Yet he pays nothing even though he's a rich boy.

That's the best way to take advantage of those who wishes to labor here.

An eye opening thread here

I still think going abroad legally is better than staying here tho. The challenges faced there are a little compared to what people face here everyday.

What do I know anyways?

It is not really about selfishness. It's more about painting a realistic picture of life in the US or Western Europe.

Most new immigrants usually have odd working schedules. It's not unusual to have a job which is a 10-12 hr shift. Even to set up a hair-dressing or cosmetics business, one has to have a license/certification from the state government, and an educational certification too.

Exactly
Even branch managers of Chase or Wellsfargo do not get drivers or company vehicles, and these are some of the top commercial banks in the US. It's their salaries and bonuses that they use to take care of their needs.

First of all there is nothing like Competition or you would be Competing with yourself. Nobody is Discouraging you from coming, rather people are Warning you about what to expect. 1. Things are not as Rosy as you might believe, the work ethics are different and you dont cut corners. 2. People were also shocked when they first came here and many said "Like say I no, I for no come" Millions have said this Countless times and that is what they repeat to those back home. But now that they have spent Money, Loans, Difficulties to make it here, they decided to tough it out and that's why they didnt return back, though few Returns back 3. There are some people that are just not meant to be here and cant face or cope with the Pressure of the WEST coupled with the Pressure they receive back from home and such takes their own lives.4. Once nobody says you should stay back and not come, they just want you to know what to expect. We did a Movie long ago about Life abroad. Go to Youtube and check "Under Pressure Holland" 5. Finally many people might have been able to Manage and Cope if they were Selfish and just looks after only themselves, but NO! a lot of Pressure is from people back home. You work and have to Share your money with Family and friends back home, while the people here work and use the money for themselves only. That's basically it. Bless

Quite a number of those in the diaspora are neck deep in debts. There's no money to even change to the naira sef.
Once they see you're jjc from Naija, na to come and meet you to borrow money from you.. As if you'll fall for their gimmicks.
Most live a fake life online, and have delusions of grandiosity pretending to be what they're not.

God help us ooo for people that don't even have helpers but to the facts of not getting encouragement from our fellow Nigerians and loved ones over there not fair the hardship in this country is hell.

We have high numbers of youths ready to work but no work people just manage anything they see you can imagine working 11hrs here everyday for 6 days in a week with little stipends.

What would make one not reason leaving here.

What you need is to pray to God to open your mind. A lizard in Nigeria cannot be a crocodile in the U.S.

It's disheartening seeing threads like these - Nigerians talking about how shithole Nigeria is. Even some Nigerians in Nigeria are saying the same. Please, you people should leave the country with this toxic mindset. Make we know how many of us remain for here.

bebe2, bless your heart for this post.

I know a lot of people who discourage people from moving abroad. Recently i had a chat with 1 of my friends, he's in Singapore, and i discussed with him about migrating abroad, and he was like "You can't make it abroad", "taxes are killing us here", "bills are too much here" etceteras. But the next minute, he's like "I have just built a student hostel off campus in FUTO", "I just wired 300k to my mum last week", "I wire 200k to my girlfriend in Nigeria every week for her make-up" etceteras.

Well, i have made up my mind to migrate out of this "hell" called Nigeria. I have filed in my papers, waiting for my permits. And the last thing that will happen to me is to get discouraged by any Nigerian in diaspora.

Nigerians in diaspora, make una fear God!!!
Can you just imagine? SMH

Each time I talk to my friend in New York about my interest in traveling out of the country very soon, he will start telling me how hard it is to survive abroad and how tax is killing. He tells me how Nigerians roam about the streets helplessly just to discourage me
