unless the housemaid is stupid because if she is not stupid she will run away after a year. why will she be a housemaid to you in canada ? when she can go to school and better her own life ? see when you go abroad you need to leave this archaic ways of thinking behind. all that slavery you do in nigeria is not allowed in the west because that is what having personal driver and house maid is. its slavery. you tie another human beings life and destiny down for your own personal purpose. why ? if you need maid go to agency and they will give you maid who charges you by the hour. if you want car driver call chauffeur company and they will hire you driver who you will pay by the hour. thats how they do it in the west

Some housemaids earn better than some of their employers.
A housemaid combining various employers and shift patterns, would be swimming in Canadian $$$$$

I think the ones that made up their minds to migrate are not online soliciting for advice.

They take a leap of faith and hope for the best. If your indecision is bc of advice from strangers online, then you are not ready yet.

No system is perfect. There are disadvantages and advantages to migration. Everyone should weigh his/her options. You will run into happiness or regrets from migrants. If you have nothing to lose, why not try migration.

I'm careful not to take issues of tangent. Relocating to any part of the world is a very complex agenda. Yet, if for economic benefits and security. Then do proper research, such as minimum wage comparison and average cost of getting a headstart in your new world. Don't be discouraged, life in itself anywhere you find yourself is equally as complicated.

Brov, that's an offensive word at bolded.
Why classify Nigerian home-based girls as Local chicks, that's derogatory and kinda racist

No, it's not.
Once something is within a particular home domain, it's refereed to as "local".

Same way the it would be correct for an American (while staying in Nigeria) to refer to a girls back home in the U S. as "local chicks".

Not lecturing English o, just relating what I understand.

in the west yes if they work through agencies and are paid by the hour. but nigerians will keep housemaid in their house lol. if you keep the housemaid in your house you have to pay her for 24 hours or else thats slavery right ?. but yeah housemaids can earn higher than their employers if they work through agencies and charge by the hour. anytime i am in your house you pay me by the hour. if you want me to live with you then you pay me a reasonable salary like say 60 thousand dollars a year.

Living abroad is not for everybody. Coming illegally is a crime. Everyone can find a way to come legally if they are determined. I come from a very humble household; but I did the right thing education wise and I now live in the US and legally make over $200K a year.

I would advise people to come here if they are ready to take the legal route which for me means acquiring the relevant skills and education. The American dream is alive and well people. I live it.

I live in UK and that's d only place I ll be able to talk about. I ll discourage, discourage and discourage you even my enemy from coming to UK. I will even beg you to stay back in Nigeria cos if you come to UK at this point in time, you are doomed. Pls, don't let anyone or situation push you to go abroad-UK without papers. What you r going through in Nigeria today ll definitely be a child play compare to what your life ll look like in UK without papers.

I swear down, if you see the numbers of Nigerians in deportation centres in UK, you ll pity these people. Some Nigerians have been in deportation centres for almost two years without committing a single crime. Their only crime is being in UK illegally.

You can't go to the bank, school, work and renting a room might even give you away to immigration. If you decide to put up with a friend or family members, you r done cos they ll only tolerate you for few days before they begin to show you their true colour. Trust me, that's when you ll now realise that you don't know what you have until you lose it.

You ll only enjoy these western world with your papers in your hands. Anything outside this papers is a suicide

Your personal experience is not necessarily the general experience. So I will disagree with you strongly.

It is actually quite misleading.

Thank you dear.

Let me add something. I know at least a dozen people who have lived here for 15 to 25 years and have not visited 9ja once. I'm sure you can imagine the main reason why they cannot visit. Meanwhile, relatives in 9ja believe they are gallivanting here.

Somebody I warned about potential difficulties here if coming is not planned properly has spent over 10 years here now. No means to visit 9ja till now. Back then she dismissed my warning as not wanting to help. Not seen her kids in 9ja for over 10 years now.

How come most of the people you know have negative stories? Looool

Some people pay higher wages for the services of a housemaid.
But the Nigerian mentality, is a combination of housemaid + nanny, on the cheapest possible wage bracket, but expect the best of services & no work enhancement benefits........

Nah, I refuse your logic.

An American while staying in Nigeria, don't ever refer to American girls back in USA as Local chicks.

The name local chicks was structured by Nigerians in diaspora for Our Nigerian girls resident in Nigeria.

Don't lie to yourself, anyway no need to overstretch this.

This is getting annoying , how come each time a person is asking for directions on how to travel abroad most pple in diaspora will be discouraging the person.

If it's dat terrible why are u still there?

You enjoy the benefits of living in an organised society, knowing fully well that naija is a difficult place to live.

Are u scared of the competition the new immigrants will bring?

Nigerians in diaspora , what exactly are u afraid off??

I'm thinking of traveling out, can 400k, take me to Dubai please?

How would you relate your concept to a dish? In Yorkshire, Yorkshire pudding is local dish.
While in Nigeria, Yorkshire pudding is an international dish........

exactly lol. nigerians are exploiters. they are all slave-masters. they run away from nigeria to live abroad because of oppression but when they get abroad they become oppressors themselves. even the ones in nigeria are worse. you see them with 10 year old maids just wasting their lives away looking after their children or cleaning up after them. like dont they feel bad that they are wasting another human beings life ? chai black man and wickedness sha grin grin

And how does "charging by the hour, or minutes" exonerate that person from being accused of slavery.

Do you know what slavery is?

Do you have any idea how many of these so called "house girls" have built mansions here in Nigeria while graduates, artisans, and technicians can't even feed themselves Three times in a day?

One of the greatest disadvantage with Migrating to West is that you guys lose touch with realities of your motherland.

You become sucked into a system that (though will never accept you fully) it still alter and destroy your possibilities of a successful reintegration back into your homeland at the tail end of your sojourn.

Well this doesn't apply to the Hausas anyway. They are an exceptional tribe when it comes to protecting ethnical originality and values.

because if you have me in your house for 24 hours and you pay me 10 dollars per hour, then thats 240 dollars a day. thats not slavery. but if you have me in your house 24 hours and you are not paying me for the extra hours ? then thats slavery. you are just wasting my time and wasting my life. its that simple. time is money.
