It's of Public knowledge ad perception that Nigerian girls are called Local chicks by Nigerians in Diaspora.

An amazing fact, a girl who stays in the Rural part of Nigeria is even considered to be a local chick by a Girl who stays in the Urban part of Nigeria.

Like a girl residing in Mbano Village in Owerri, Imo State is seen mostly as a local girl by people who are resident in Ikoyi, Lagos .

There's possibility of Nigerians helping fellow Nigerians but we have got bad attitude and racking brains towards each other. Nigerian have bad reputation here in UK. I won't completely doubt his story.

A former colleague moved to a Swiss private bank (in a developed country) as a senior VP and as part of his employment package, he got a fully furnished apartment and a brand new SUV (but without a personal driver).

I won't be surprised if a more senior staff member had the same perks but with a personal driver.

Living abroad is not for everybody. Coming illegally is a crime. Everyone can find a way to come legally if they are determined. I come from a very humble household; but I did the right thing education wise and I now live in the US and legally make over $200K a year.

I would advise people to come here if they are ready to take the legal route which for me means acquiring the relevant skills and education. The American dream is alive and well people. I live it.

in the west yes if they work through agencies and are paid by the hour. but nigerians will keep housemaid in their house lol. if you keep the housemaid in your house you have to pay her for 24 hours or else thats slavery right ?. but yeah housemaids can earn higher than their employers if they work through agencies and charge by the hour. anytime i am in your house you pay me by the hour. if you want me to live with you then you pay me a reasonable salary like say 60 thousand dollars a year.

Why are you not feeling for the thousands of beggars and drug addiction abroad? I understand your empathy but even where you live, beggars and lonely old people who can't afford heating are everywhere there

You're right in that maids here do not live in someone else's house 24/7. At most, a nanny could work 40 - 45 hrs per week.

Now, if the maid is paid minimum wage i.e. $7.25/hr, then you'd have to pay the nanny between $1,160 to $1,305 per month. That's a huge bill to pay for nanny services, when the average monthly middle class income in the US is no more than $4500.

Daycare is even more expensive. A friend of mine once told me that his other friend shells out about $2k every month for the daughter's daycare. And you can't forget those student loan payments. This country is really an expensive place to live in.

Imagine I lost my job over a year ago, decided to run my masters with my savings while I wait. Almost all Nija uni rejected me.
I applied to Australia and germany. Even when ppl wia still waiting for admission on NL. I got already cos of my job experience.

I started a laundry bushiness to keep me busy. I got tired of taxing my banner, my extension, my sales, may handwork. Exuberant power bill with less supply.

At d end of the day, all I was doing for a year was just suffering to feed. I could not read cos I needed time to work.
No more friends cos I needed time to work.
No more sleep cos I needed time to work.
Couldn't take care of myself cos I needed time to work.

Babe. Ask me for 5k. I swear I can't afford it.
