God evening to every one who has contributed to the resources on this thread and I'm happy to be here. Just find out about this thread some weeks ago and after reading through I decided to register so that I can ask questions cos it seems I'm already missing out.

This is my journey so far. I studied physics with a third class after I discussed with my friend doing masters in A$M Texas he told me to apply to a community college and I applied to Houston community college and miami dade college and they reply by sending all the requirement for admission. After more researched I decided to pay the application fees for Houston community college and I am waiting for my I-20 now but my fear is that some comment here shows that chances of getting visa approval is slim since I am already a bsc holder.

Please advise me on what to do and how to go about this...

Note.
I did Industral training for 7months in a hospital.
Did NYSC 2014 to 2015
I currently work with an ngo
I'm 28 years
I applied for nuclear medicine technology A.A.S.
Bsc physics front Nigeria university
Please kindly help me out one thing I hate most is rejection..

It would be advisable to apply for a new Bsc related to your first degree rather than going for AAS which is my own opinion and advise

But with God all things are possible

Seems it is better to go for the visa interview very early (between 6am and 7am), because the VOs won't be tired yet and everywhere would be cool. In the afternoon, the VOs would have been exhausted, their heads would have been very hot, so they may just be dashing blue slips anyhow.

How about they are more attentive to details because they are not tired yet in the morning, and might more likely deny people....My point is that they're trained to do their job, and most of them have done it for years. They're human beings too, but this probably carries very little weight.

@350

Even using commercial route would give u more than 350 per dollar. How do u suppose people would deal with you except you are appealing for this favor

You are on the right track except you want to risk wasting money on visa application ($160 + $210 for SEVIS) and praying + hoping you are 1 out of every 10 that gets visa with community college. My Advise for you is to forget that community college and apply to a proper university. Your 3rd class is not a barrier all you need to do is find universities that admit low cgpa students, but you MUST do GRE and Toelf to boast your chances. Just to chip this in, if it will boost your spirit I have a friend that finished with 3rd class in Engineering and He will be graduating this may with Msc in Petroleum Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology. You must be willing to put in the necessary work to do research about schools and know the one you have a good chances. If you still want to continue with the community college pursue, good luck. As regards the bold, you cant always win in Life, that is not a curse but reality. Most of the people who have made it in life didn't make it one day, they kept trying. You need to develop the spirit of not giving up.

Warm greetings to the wonderful people in here. I am in the process of booking my F1 visa interview appointment and it is required that I fill-in information about my dependents( wife and two kids) but their passports and 1-20s are not yet ready.Should I skip that page or wait till these documents are available before continuing with the booking? I f I do, hope it won't affect them when their documents are now available and they are to go for their interview. Actually, they are not going with me now but may join me later. Advise needed.

Dear Silent Follower. cool
2.6 Should also give you Msc admission for the same course if you search well or speak to GRAD coordinators of schools that accept 2.6 GPA.

VOs don't like PGD wahala.
And no PGD is not even required for Most job offers.

Universities give you better job prospects at least for an international student. Plus VISA

The only challenge is you getting funding in your i20. But if you can raise at least fees your self then you would have no problem.
Try to give us a clue of your full profile ; GRE,TOEFL etc.

Jumping from chemistry Education to Environmental then Nursing is just pointless.

What do you really Want?!!
An MSC in environmental stuff would pay well too.
Thanks for responding, No GRE, NO TOEFL, Not from a reach family but trying to survive. based on work experience that is why am looking at environmental science. pls could you help me with schools that accept lower cgp.
Once I cross I will change career.

Hi guys, I have a question:

If you got admitted into a university in the US, and you got a private scholarhip from an organisation in Nigeria; is it advisable to contact your school in the US to inform them about the scholarship and request that they put it in your i20 for visa interview advantage?

In my opinion, during the i20 processing, the school would require you to send your evidence of financial support. So they expect the scholarship body to give you a statement/letter showing the financial support. Hence, you're supposed to get those documents from the supporting body and send to the school yourself.

The struggle for visa interview. cheesy grin What makes you think all I-20 without scholarship don't pick up visa and what makes you think all I-20 with scholarship gets the visa? Well, like yinkdj1 said, you have your scholarship letter sent to the school when you re asked for financial statement and it will be slotted on your I-20. That's if you haven't gotten your I-20 yet.
