Im just surprised anyone thinks it's wrong for Lagos state to own an oil and gas business.
If other states didn't think of it initially, they can still start their own. The sky is big enough.
I'm very sure the FG cannot stop any state from developing it's own businesses. Even individuals/ private citizens own oil and gas companies undisturbed, talkmore of a whole state.

Some people just love to blame other people for their own incompetence and lack of vision.

you are the one that is not intelligent, sir. I asked why Lagos has an indigenous oil company to extract her oil but Niger delta states dont? you didnt provide any answer but went on to talk about shell, agip etc which is totally irrelevant. if Lagos could could be allowed to have one it is only fair for them to be allowed to have their!

pls stop deluding yourself about the quality of leaders Lagos had. Lagos is simply developed because it is the formal fct and bulk of fg investments that can be found there which led to population implosion and also coupled with the sea port. akpabio performed better than brt, fashola, ambode but that still didn't make akwa ibom better than Lagos. if you think you have quality leaders than the rest of the country make Oyo to be like lagos

I think u are the one not setting ur points well enough. I might know wat u mean. Take ibori for example. He built a refinery in a foreign country, if he should build that here, that would have be an indigenous oil firm, uduaghan his cousin went to a foreign country also to build a world class hospital. U should know how many jobless youths that would have taken off the streets. So it all boils down to ur leaders. They think of themselves and neglect u guys. Same youths will hijack ballot boxes for them and at the end to enrich themselves and their families. If only the youths of Niger-Delta can start fighting and killing thier wicked leaders, the next incoming one will learn to respect thier land and do the right tin.

It is called choice. Why do Italy France and Holland have AGIP, TOTAL and SHELL when they have no oil and Nigeria has the moribund NNPC ? Because they make smart choices.
Why do your children have polio while mine are healthy. .?
I hope that helps
The company is a business it is not limited to Lagos or Nigeria oil.Just like you have the right to start such a business so does Lagos State , There is nothing stopping other states doing so whether alone or in combination /partnership with other entities individual corporate or governments and if they do they are free to compete with SHELL and others. This is not limited to oil and gas but ANY OTHER BUSINESS whether Telecommunications, Aviation, Banking etc.Everything Dangote is doing a state government can do.The problem with Niger Delta Leaders is they lack imagination

I wish I can hug you. What they have in the Niger delta is oil producing areas corporation that shares Money and builds roads. Isopadec in Imo State, Desopadec in Rivers state etc. No planning ahead. I knew this news would be tribalised here on nairaland, but I couldn't just resist your argument with that guy you quoted.

My state anambra has Orient , but no news till today.I hope Ibile won't go that way also.

Thank you.

Does lagos need to consult any niger delta state to stablish what constitution doesnt forbid. i think that question should be directed to their governors, both current and past.

You are not well informed about anything in the Oil and Gas Sector. The Ibile Oil and gas company is owned by the Lagos state but the Oil produced is owned by the FG through NNPC and Lagos will only get it's own share of the 13% derivatives. Your state Governors have many private Oil companies that drill and produce Oil, they collect contracts from the Oil majors but all the money accured is going into their pockets which they ought to make a state govt Oil company since they are using the state money.

Ambode could have done that too by secretly setting up a private Oil company to collect drilling and production contracts from NNPC but he didn't do that instead he set up a Lagos state Oil company to do that. So all the money accused is coming back to the state purse.

Lagos Oil is Nigeria's Oil they will only get 13% derivatives.

well the truth is this goes beyond oil.We could be talking aviation, a credible rival to MTN,even power generation. I am not one of those who believe that government has no business in business. All the money that passed through the hands of Odili , Akpabio Ibori, Amaechi and Uduaghan was enough to start a Sovereign Wealth Fund investing in all these sectors. The best thing is such businesses don't have to be 100%government owned. They could list on the Stock market and be publicly traded. I believe the German government owns about 30% of DHL that way there is greater transparency in governance and management is more professional and less political

Do they have to pay you to love and show pride in your own state and region?

And of what relevance it is to you what other people love and acknowledge?

The fact that you don't love your own state and you have nothing to show for your own state doesn't mean other people should not when it comes to their state and region so mind your own business and get over yourself.

5. Lagos will move from the 5th largest economy in Africa to the 3rd largest in Africa
