Na superstition o. It pains me to see babies adorable hair shaved at one. Oyinbos don't shave their babies hair. Muslims shave theirs on the 7th day abi na 8th day ( naming ceremony) and not bother to shave off again except if the baby is a boy.I will keep my baby's hair for as long as its comfy for him or her. It annoys me a lot too! When my elder sis' son's hair was shaved ehn, I wan mad since I begged her not to cos IFECHECHUKWU's hair was just toooooo cooool!

My Ist daughter is almost 11 years old, while my 2nd daughter is 8 years old and since I gave birth to them till date, their hair has not been cut. My mom told me then that the hair will fall off if I don't cut it, my nosy aunt in the US said the same thing but today they both have natural beautiful long hair that my 2nd daughter is even complaining that it is too thick to comb and I should cut it cos its too full. (No plans to use hair relaxer till further notice)

All in all follow your heart and do what you feel is right for your kids.

It's an African superstition. No one in my immediate family has ever cut their child's hair. No one fell sick because of it.

Nobody is going to shave my daughter's head, not even when she starts school.
If the school doesn't like It, I will go and build my own school for her to attend.

I still asked my mom this question two days ago cos I don't want them to cut my nephew's hair. She told me they cut it cos perpetrators of evil are everywhere and they could use a child's birth hair for their evil deeds.

My hair was not cut at birth, didn't cut it till I entered sec sch. I do find shaving the head of a new born baby very risky, the scalp is just too tender for scraping in my opinion.

It's just a superstition.. My Cousin sister, she's 3yrs now never get her hair cut since birth. Gosh she's so hairy, looking at the hair, talk more of the hairs at her back and hands. 3yrs old girl.
