Don't listen to the people telling you not to go. Please go, but make sure you go with one or two other people.

How can we continue to complain about the rot in the police when we shy away from playing our own part. Someone wants to fight the rot, the least you can do is support that person. The ACP is not a fool, I'm sure he'd have taken measures to protect you. You could as well ask for such protection before showing up.

Protection in Nigeria ?

Guy you must have been watching enough films.
Welcome to the real word.

As long as you were unlawfully held. Go. Nothing will happen to you. It's all on social media already my only advice is that you should go with 2 or more people and also someone who is very good with social media. The news is here already. No one can touch you. You have a voice already. But abeg if you get any cockroach in your wardrobe the policemen who extorted you has access to, stay at home so that you can watch Nigeria trash South Africa later in the day

I reported some greedy police officer that collected money(bribe) from me to the Assistant Commissioner Of Police @yomishogunle twitter handle by dint of PCRRU, just now i received a call from the Area Commander to come identify the officer involved and assured my money will be refunded even after mentioning the Officer involved.......

Please Nairalander should i proceed or not?

If you have taken time to make a report and effort are being made to punish the offenders and all they ask you to do is to come and identity the culprit and you are running away. i pity you ooo, they can charge you for providing false information. go with your team of lawyers or community leaders.

Bro, go there. Open a monitoring thread here on Nairaland if you're scared. Update us with pictures from your journey to the police station. If anything happens which am sure nothing will happen and no update from you. Nairalanders will flood @policeNG on twitter.

Police is your friend.
Taeewo , this is the most honourable and amazing solution so far. simply add lawyer to it and you will get your money back even with damages

Thanks....great!. ....
dont take that advice. take the first one. Nigeria is not a country for all that exposure and risk. dont even allow anyone know your full name or have your picture. use maximum privacy policies in all your social media account, remove your phone number from twitter, register your number on true caller with another name. you need to go on low key till this issue is forgotten.

trust me... i have an experience with officers in orile under bridge. Nigeria is a very dangerous country.

If you go, technically you are a whistle blower. forget what you hear online or in d news abt whistle blowers. one was gun down in my area two days ago with his wife after collecting 5m or so for blowing the whistle on a famous drug dealer in my area. d dealer was arrested alright, but a snitch always pay. so b4 u make any rash decision, knw dat if u point him out, he gets arrested, u get ur money back, he gets released. who will b responsible for ur life? forget d money nd move on. AND TO GREEDY WHISTLE BLOWERS, knw that some1 will also blow ur whistle to the person u ratted out grin

My candid advice, go wt a lawyer as ur friend and make sure d phone of d lawyer is on recording mode as you enter the office.
If you need RRS(RUTHLESS, RUGGED & SEASONED) Lawyers we can offer you.

If you can identify the officer pls go. Sometime ago 3 police officers were dismissed for collecting bribe of just 10k from my younger brother when he reported the matter. He was invited to the station for identification of the officers because, somehow the matter got to the then IGP Okiro who ordered for immediate sack of the officers involved and also for the refund of the money. There's nothing to fear.

The arrangement is having k leg.
If you truely named/identified the police involved, he should have been investigated first.
Not inviting you for refund when the facts of the issue has not been established.
Don't run.
Appoint a lawyer and go to court,

there isn't any risk involved. i believe the reason why you posted the allegation was because it was not right for the Nigerian police to exhort the citizens unjustly. The police has responded as a responsible outfit.. if you failed to show up in the parade to identify the culprit you are not helping matters.. besides you could also be arrested for wrong information and defaming the Nigeria police force. the best you could do is to go with a human right advocate lawyer if you don't have the confidence in the police..
