This one is a civil case, meaning if found guilty he will only pay damages. It is ICC that sends people it convicts like Charles Taylor, Milosevic, and others to jail.

Okay. Thanks.

Bro don't swear on it. The international recognition is mind boggling. What IPoB is doing is a modern way of freedom fighting. Imagine if the court finds brutai guilty of mass murder, do you actually know the damage it will have on Nigeria? In fact the US/Nigeria relationship will go into limbo and Biafra would gain a lot of sympathies just as they are having now all over the world.

And that's y they should tank the Arewa youths for hastening their course.

Then pack your things and leave before October 1. The Northern youths too have a right to choice of association, same with other tribes according to UN.

Go back home if you're serious about biafra

You are a very big coward,if not you will be asking government to grant them Biafra then kick them out
,according the law of your country all citizens have right of abode in every part of the country, if you and your co-northerners are not cowards, ask FG to grant them Biafra and them chase them away because they are now foreigners, but you people want to chase them away under one Nigeria without giving them Biafra, you people are irredeemable cowards and bunch of jokers.

Does US district court look like Hague or ICC Does US district court look like Hague or ICC? Even in Nigeria there are cases that cannot be determined in some areas due to jurisprudence. Nigerian Military is not an Affiliate or under the control of USA. People are just showing their ignorance to law. Any case of extra judiciary killing can only be forwarded to Hague or within the court the incident occurred.

Asking for biafra means you don't want to associate with others, means you want to dictate how others move or live in your lands..

Stop playing smart son, even the UN or any international body can see through igbo antics.

You can deceive your fellow igbos but not a Yoruba man like me. I senior you in everything including sense wise
Yoruba always dragging seniority even with anonymous monikers. Hahahaha.

My point is, is it now official? Does going back grant it officially?. The igbo reps have asked for referendum.

Are you guys ready cooperate?

Simple question you start to drag age. Lmao.

This time it won't be business as usual, already there's enough evidence on ground so is not the question of I didn't do it, or I'm not aware. Buratai thought he would have been the super hero the moment he kills innocent, armless and law abiding IPOB members for hate and frivolous reasons. We hope that Justice will surely prevail because those killed are more humans than their killers. Even Justice fails to come through this Chanel, one thing is undisputable, all those who participated in the killings of innocent IPOB members either directly or indirectly must surely pay a heavy price, anyone of them who escaped the physical nets will never escape the spiritual nets.

First things first.
You can only separate from Nigeria through a constitutional means which is referendum. Tell your reps at the national assembly to initiate such.
Any other act of violence, demonstration, rally to agitate for Biafra is an act of treasonable felony according to 1999 constitution. The punishment for a sessionist in nigerian law is death.

Barutai will be praised by UN for keeping Nigeria one...

And if he's found guilty, will he be repatriated to serve punishment, or will it be here in Nigeria?

I am wondering also. This is a civil trial. The us has zero jurisdiction in this case, so I am forced to wonder what it is supposed to achieve.

If for anything, the case should have been filed with the Hague, not a district court in the States. But let's not deny some people their fun sha. wink

The court has no legal jurisdiction. However there may be some sense to this if it is planned to be one step in a grand scheme. The objective of this particular step could be to raise enough awareness on the situation of those who identify with Biafra in Nigeria, and maybe gain sympathy for their cause by appealing to the westerners' respect for human rights. You could view this as early stakeholder engagement.

PS: I'm no Biafran. Only trying to observe the issues from what I believe is an objective position.

Don't be daft.

The court would have thrown the suit out immediately if it did not have jurisdiction

The ruling the Biafran American citizens are hoping to get is to establish that Buruntai is a war criminal and from there other sanctions can follow

FYI, the US Foreign office has war criminals listed as one of many criminals that are barred from visiting th US

The suit is to make a US Federal court to declare Buruntai as a war criminal first and foremost. The financial compensation is secondary and of no relevance to those who sued Buruntai

They do because the victim is in the United States. Ex, if a US citizen was the victim of torture abroad, the US courts has to somehow redress the issue to protect it's citizens. I don't know how they'll enforce their judgment if the defendant has no interests/property in the US.

Google the "Torture Victims Protection Act" and "Alien Tort Claims Act"

Does the UAE have similar laws because thats where Burantai is known to have properties?

If so, a similar suit filed there will have more effect cos he found guilty, he could lose the house if unable to pay damages.
