BREAKING: Osinbajo Asks National Assembly To Re-allocate N135bn In 2017 Budget by ExAngel007(f): 2:26pm On Jul 20, 2017 |
Two months after senate passed the 2017 budget, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has submitted a virement proposal of N135.6 billion to the National Assembly. According to reports, if the submitted proposal is approved, the money will cover projects across many MDAs, particularly the ministry of Power/Works/Housing, The Sun reports. Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has sought the approval of the house of representatives for the virement (re-allocation) of N135 billion in the 2017 budget to some exigent projects. The Cable however reported that N3.1 billion will be re-allocated from the ministry of works and housing; N33 billion from the ministry of transportation; N14 billion from the office of the secretary of the government of the federation; N5 billion from the office of the national security adviser, and N5 billion from the ministry of science and technology. Also, N3 billion will be vired from the ministry of defence; N3 billion from the federal capital territory administration, and N 1 billion from the ministry of health. The letter containing this request was sent to the House of Representatives and the Senate, but it was not read by Senate President Bukola Saraki before the plenary session of the senate. https://www.naij.com/1116002-breaking-osinbajo-asks-national-assembly-allocate-n135bn-2017-budget.html 1 Like |

Some Nigerians are so daft. Fashola put up a proposal like this in the budget against any unforeseen things that will come up later, all these jobless boys and their hero Senators were shouting, now they have to go through the process all over again. Truly, ignorance is worse than disease! 3 Likes |

Fashola told the Senate it did a poor job, this is the major reason for this request for virement. I hope they do a better job this time for important projects in the power sector to be done. |

CoolFreeday: Fashola, apart from being a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, is a former governor of the biggest economy in Nigeria and the fifth in Africa. He definitely knows more than most of our Senators when it comes to Budgeting and Budgetary Controls. When he was talking of contingencies, those uneducated representatives were talking of N20B in his budget. The question is how will a big country like Nigeria have an annual budget for 36 States and the FCT for 12 fiscal months and you wont plan for unforeseen events like natural disasters, war, chaos, etc that might involve a quick financial involvement. We remember the issue of Ebola, if not for Fashola who had built houses for IDPs even before such issues, what would have happened to Nigeria? Those Senators need more trainings. 1 Like |

Osinbajo keeping 2017 budget he assented to secret, we are get a few vague snippets of info here and there, but we don't really know what him and Saraki are up to with the 2017 budget. Transparency has left governance again since the removal of Buhari |

All the defenders and experts above should have known that the executive and legislature had earlier reached an agreement on this during the budget signing imbroglio. Rub my back I rub your own. APC politicians are saints. |
