Roughly around N280-300k depending on the exchange rate. As at when I paid, total cost was $755 which was roughly N277,085. I bought black market $ to fund my $ credit card but at the time, using GTBank Naira MasterCard was at N375/$1. So find out your bank's exchange rate to enable you calculate. The exchange rate will determine how much it will cost you.

Todail:
Good morning All,
Please does anyone have any idea on the cost of the U.K. student visa in Naira?
Thanks

Don't bother yourself with exchange rate fluctuation as long as you deposited the correct amount or even more from day one. You can't control it and you can't keep topping up each time it goes up.

Not a single person i know has been refused because of exchange rate fluctuation since the start of this thread 8 yrs ago.

The only case i remembered was the person who deposited less and hoping that exchange rate dropping will benefit him but he was refused.

Hello Justwise , please I need your help.

So if I have to apply now that the exchange rate is up, what supporting document can I add to explain to them about the rate inflation. Cz I put beyond the expected amount and even up until the day I printed the statement, the rates were in line. I was waiting for my CAS when the thing went up. Printed the statement on Aug 24

Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by Question1: 2:07pm On Aug 07, 2017
Kindly help me shed light please,

1.What does primary site means?

The tuition fee for my school is 15,000. I was offered a scholarship of 6,000 and I paid 9000 already. My issue is that my CAS letter shows my course fee as 9000 instead of 15,000. But the 6k scholarship was stated on the cas.

2, So, on my visa application form the question, How much are the fees for your course of study, the figure should be the sane as in your cas? (Note: Meanwhile the course fee on my cas indicates GBP 9000, after deducting the 6k scholarship from 15k. )

3. Have any of your course fee been paid? I've paid 9k actually. But should it be to UK education provider of Oversea Higher Education institution?

4. Do you have remaining fees and maintenance still due for payment? Should it be yes or No (I got 6k scholarship and paid 9k = 15k. I've got maintenance fund in my account).
Furthermore,
Course fees................
Maintenance .............
Total ......................
Biko What should I include?

5. Have you ever travelled outside your country of residence, excluding the UK, in the last 10 years? I schooled in Ghana, and always come to Nigeria each time I'm on break. Should I answer this question by writing only the first day i travelled to Ghana or?

God bless!

1. The address listed for your school on your CAS.
Ask your school to update your CAS. If not, include your receipt for the 9,000 paid. And list it as one of the documents you're submitting.

2. Fees for your course of study should be the full fees as listed on your CAS. There's a part where you'd need to state fees paid, this should include the scholarship and the amount you've paid.

3. If it's a licensed tier 4 sponsor(which in this case should be a University), select the paid to UK education provider.

4. Select Yes. Fill in 0 for course fees and fill in the required amount for your maintenance. Total should be the total amount required for you maintenance.

5. List all your entry dates to Ghana since Nigeria is your country of residence.

Normally you should be able to use it for a maximum of one month after printing as long as you've submitted your application before printing the said statement. If you use the statement you printed before submitting your application, there's no evidence to convince the ECO that the money is available for your use in the UK at the time you submit your application.

I don't think I understand what you mean there. Do u mean that your CAS shows that all tuition fees have been paid?
Normally, the part that has total paid to your T4 sponsor should be £15,000 (6,000 scholarship+9000 which you paid) followed by a breakdown of how they arrived at the total paid. And when you fill the form, since you have no outstanding fees, put 0.
If this is not the case and if it's not been updated (or won't be in time for your biometrics) in the CAS system by your school, you'd still need to fill in 0 for outstanding fees (because you have no outstanding fees to pay) but include the receipt you got for the N9,000. I got a scholarship from my school too and that was how it was put on my CAS statement. The total paid to my school was my scholarship+amount I paid.
I've attached a pictorial guide though in case I misunderstood that part of your question.

@mimilyrics Can I use my gtb naira card to pay for my visa application?
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 3:29pm On Aug 07, 2017
Yes. As long as it's not above $1,000. You'll be needing the code generated on your token or an OTP- one time password (requested for and received via your phone/email) from GTBank to complete the transaction.

I think we are saying same thing, Financial Data section on my cas has something like this;

Course Fees: 9000 (instead of 15,000 )
Courses Fees Paid: 9000
Accommodation Fees Paid: 0.00

However, they indicated the scholarship somewhere at the back of the cas letter, is that normal?
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 4:11pm On Aug 07, 2017
Okay. What did they then state as your total fees? If your scholarship is on the CAS, just put stated on CAS.
I don't know if that's normal. I guess different schools word them differently.

Mine as contained in my CAS is as below:
Course fees are 15,000
Course fees paid: 13,000
Accommodation: 0

The payment breakdown as explained on my CAS:
Scholarship:10,000
Amount I paid 3,000

Non-international private companies are not considered as sponsors and personal business accounts are not allowed. Have your dad move the money to his personal account or yours.

Hi guys,
Pls I'd like to note that am new to this just in case am not posting this via the right platform.i'd like to get ur views asap pls with respect to my Tier4 visa application
I want to know if it's ok or if anyone here has applied for visa whose date of application exchange rate on oanda is a bit higher than what he/she had in thier account during the 28day period.
I have already done my funding which was above the rates on oanda through out the 28day period, however I had to send the statement to my uni for verification cos they asked before they could send my cas, I was planning to pay for my application on the 2nd of August but unfortunately the rates peaked and up till today been the 7th of Aug it hasn't dropped and am a bit skeptical if it's gonna drop soon cos it's #470 to £1 at the moment and the rate I used was#450 to £1 at the time I commenced my funding.
Pls I need ur advice guys if I should submit cos my statement is about 2weeks now since I printed it out and I don't have any money to top up o. My tuition

Read previous posts on finance. It's been extensively discussed on this thread. Scroll up and type in keywords such as exchange rate, exchange, Oanda, maintenance, account balance e.t.c Some other people have posted their experiences with the exchange in previous posts.

Same thing is happening to me too. Although I still have a week to complete the 28days. Am hoping it drops before then.

I think they will also check the rates on the specific day you deposited the money. If it was 425 on the deposit day and you used 405 or 410 to deposit, hoping that rates will fall, that's when you should be worried. But if it's 425 or 430 and you deposited with 450 and it rose to 470 or 475, they are reasonable enough, they can't deny you based on that.

As oga justwise said. I don relax

I Just saw this on another thread on Nairaland.
Thought to share here:

Johnny Just Come. Transitioning to Life in the UK for Nigerian Students.
Part One: Good Evening Nigeria, Good Morning UK

This article is intended for Nigerians who are heading to the UK for postgraduate studies. The lessons in the article are applicable to scholars from other developing countries. For so many students, this is the first time they are leaving the shores of their home country with no idea of what to expect or how to handle certain situations in a foreign land. This introductory article focuses on how to prepare for your trip, handling finances, arranging accommodation and finally your departure and arrival in the UK.

Heading to the United Kingdom for the first time can be a daunting experience, especially for those coming from African countries. This is exacerbated by a totally different society and a system that functions on laid down rules and regulations that are followed to the letter.

Let’s start from the pre-trip preparation. I’ll be assuming at this point that admission to study in a UK higher institution has been secured, Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) number has been received, UK Visa has been granted, and all that’s left is the inbound trip.

At this point, personal funds for the duration of the study might or might not have been sorted. Now let me pro-offer some advice, whether a student is being sponsored by relatives or on a scholarship programme, the full amount for maintenance during the studies should be secured. I know this might be difficult due to the enormous amount of funds required for an academic undertaking in the UK, but believe me, as a student you don’t want to get financially stranded on this side of the Atlantic. Unlike in our home countries where one can run around and “raise” funds from family and friends in emergency situations, such measures are almost impossible in the UK.

In the event that the full funds are on hand, pay upfront for a year of accommodation. In a lot of cases, student accommodation (both off and on campus) comes with all bills inclusive. I’d recommend this option for those spending just a year or eighteen months for an MSc. The advantage of this is that you don’t have multiple bills (internet, electricity, water, gas etc.) to be navigating through each month. The downside is that in a lot of situations like opening a bank account, registering with the National Health Service (NHS) or applying for a driving license you’ll need a proof of address, and this is usually a posted official utility bill (not printed from online accounts) with your name and address clearly stated on it. If the bills are being handled by the landlord, his/her name would appear on those bills.

In a situation where the bills are not included with the rent, you’ll have the option of paying for some of them monthly, quarterly or annually. I’ll recommend the monthly option, because bills stack up over time. A monthly bill of £100 is easier to digest than a quarterly bill of £300 or annual bill of £1200.

In a situation where the complete maintenance funds are not readily available at the start of the programme, be prepared for any eventuality with some savings. In some months, allowances from your family may be missed due to family emergencies. Scholarship agencies can experience delays in payment approvals, which could last months. Believe me you don’t want any additional strain from finances when studying in the demanding UK academic environment.

One more thing of note, if you are staying off campus, the norm is that you have to pay for the first six months up front (plus the equivalent of one and a half months rent as security deposit), while the remaining payments are monthly. The only alternative to this arrangement is to get a UK “guarantor” who will be responsible for paying the outstanding rent if you miss any payments. In a lot of cases, the guarantor has to earn a minimum salary before they can serve as a guarantor. This threshold varies, based on agencies and the cost of the rent.

Hello,
I am new here and I don't know if I am posting the right way. Please my question is,
I applied for a six months student visa to the Uk in April and I was denied on the basis of my personal economic status. My dad don't have the money to sponsor me so My uncle was my sponsor and he is boyant and has paid the full fee to the school. My application was OK but they judged me based on my personal circumstance, that they are not sure I will return or finance my stay without a third party.I only emitted my uncles statement of account and my dad's concent letter together with other documents.

Now I want to reapply and this time around I want to emit my uncles statement again since he was d one that paid my tuition fee and also my personal account because my uncle paid in 3million as my maintenance fee which am to leave in my account for 28days but he told my dad to write in his consent letter that he (my dad) paid in the money to support me. Also my dad has a company which he made me one of his directors when I was still in sec school. He want to submit that to show my ties to my country.
Please my question is can I get the visa this way?
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by mimilyrics: 11:45am On Aug 08, 2017
What do you mean by emit? Did you mean to type submit or omit?
You don't need a consent letter if you're using your own account statement.
Your dad's company writing a letter doesn't mean that you'd return. If you're employed, get a letter confirming your approved leave from your employer. That shows that you have a job to return to on the completion of your course.
Note that doing all the above doesn't necessarily tell if the will be approved or not. No one here can tell you if you'll get your visa or not. You'd have to get your application in order, submit and wait to see if your visa is approved.

Hi Everyone,

I stumbled on this page while i was seeking answers on why it is taking so long for a decision to be made on my student visa apllication to the UK, and i must say, you guys have done amazing things on this forum.

To the crux of the matter. I applied for a visa on the 6th of july after which i paid the necessary fees and my appointment was slated for the 10th of july at the ikeja vac (Etiebets place or thereabout).

On the 10th of july I was interviewed and the necessary documents were submitted.

On the 11th of july i got a confirmation mail from (tls contact) indicating that my application has been received .

On the 19th of july i got a mail from "sheffield" that my application has been received for decision making.

Following the timeline set above, i understand that decisions are made withing 15 working days for standard visa applications and in my own case it has been close to 30 days (non working days inclusive ) and yet i have not gotten any form of reply/message, either from "tls, sheffield Or ukvi.

Since the lapse of the expected 15 working days i have been worried sick . I have tried contacting the responsible parties by placing a call through, but there has been no conclusive reply, i have also tried to track the process using both the tls portal and the new (trial) ukvi checking system but all to no avail.

I just want to know if this is normal or is there any other person in a similar postion.

Thank you.
