So pessimistic lately...

1. "no matter how good you are, there will be buyers that will frustrate you" to quote hazzantazza.n

2. If there ever was unjust court....Fiverr's Support and Trust and Safety team would both win gold medals uncountable times

I have made money...I have lost money....I have not been able to access money I made as and when due because of the two reasons above

I am as much an optimist person as I am a realistic person....I am sharing the good, the bad and the ugly...to help those after me...that's all...Telling it as it is... No embellishments...

Come to think of it...if I were that bad, why would the same guy responsible for the lockdown of my funds commit to a new contract as soon as this one is over...and yet he caused me inability to access my funds for nearly a month now...

Come to think of it, I'd had issues with several Buyers for which I had to contact CS. And each time, I'd had very timely and favorable response frm them.

Honestly, I don't know what to tell the guy.
I think all these issues of buyer reporting you to fiverr solely depends on your relationship and communication with buyer. I deliver all my jobs late. In fact, my delivered on time rating once read - 17%. Lol. Yet, none of them has reported me. I always chat them up to tell them that I would be delivering a bit late, and that I was taking my time to deliver a nice job. And they are always happy with my final delivery, I think that does it.
People should stop displaying arrogance on the platform if they don't want to continue running into troubles.
A certain buyer once came back after more than two months of completing his job to ask that I give him a partial refund or do extra work. I simply explained to him what the gig he ordered said and he left. If I had ignored him or talked rudely to him, he would have proceeded to report me. Perhaps, I am yet to run into those problematic buyers.

Mine's the opposite

It seems to be a given on ecommerce sites...buyers tend to win more cases than sellers....think ebay

LOL at the bolded.

Supposing through no fault of a seller (telecom downtime)...The seller could not reach the buyer and the buyer who has had a series of bad experiences with sellers rats on the seller to CS and CS blocks any and all withdrawals...would you maintain the same position?

Suppose you delivered work, buyer said its good and proceeds to place 2 more orders...making a total of 3 orders, total value is $1,500.00. You are in constant communication with the buyer including the fact that you will be delivering the second order a few hours late...after the order is delivered the seller latches on the late delivery by a few hours to make a hell of trouble... you cajole and do everything to calm the situation down...and all looks good...buyer approves the job, you withdraw your funds...3 weeks later, customer opens case with CS...claiming poor delivery....CS refunds the $1,500.00 without giving you audience would you maintain the same position?

Suppose a customer complains to CS...and CS blocks all your withdrawals, whether related to the order in dispute or not, would you still maintain the same position?

Suppose you split a multiphase job into several orders and T&S cancel all of the orders causing the client to convert a multiphase job into one order, upon the first delivery, the client marks the job as complete and payment countdown begins to run, same client later rats to them over a late delivery and you and the client resolve the issue...but CS accuses you of improper use of the deliver button, as if there were a partial as opposed to total delivery button and you used the later instead of the former...clear evidence of failure to read and understand the transaction and refusal to hear your own side of the story...but that's not all, you and the client settle, client asks CS to remove block of funds, CS says nope, until all phases of the multiphase job are completed, would you still maintain the same position?

Come to think of it...the buyer that got $1,500 refunded... we had the best of relationships...until i touched her raw nerve...promising to deliver on time, delivering a 96% finished job a few minutes to delivery deadline and promising to and actually delivering 100% completed job 6 hours from the deadline...

See the company benefits from holding onto your funds during disputes like this...otherwise, they would have instituted a policy to lien only affected funds

If you have the time, research the company on Glassdoor, they have got a myriad of internal issues...

Take it that you are being rather fortunate so far... I had my own run of fortune

Same buyer who ran to CS told me after his cycle of bad sellers, he is gonna retain me for good though... so nothing good comes easy, I guess, be ready for the ups and downs of business

Case closed.

Hmm, must have been a hell of experience. I will go with your second to last statement. More reason why I always include a clause at the end of my statements.
Our stars could be different. I don't do all the things that others do (even in real life, as if fiverr is not real life), yet I rarely run into issues. Guys, don't be like me, walk out your own salvation with faith and trembling. Lol.

Follededon

Best selling front page gig denied and unable to withdraw cleared funds for almost 30 days now? Reason?

A client complained about a late delivery. The same client who approved one delivery out of several deliveries that made up the job. Now, until all the deliveries are made, I cannot access any funds and all funds even those that cleared before this incident. So my advise...don't be so sure...the odds are against you on that platform....it is just a matter of time...if you on the platform long enough...it will happen

I'm not doubting your unfortunate experiences. You just have to learn yr lessons & do all to avoid future occurrences. If u have issues wth network, why not find a way to get on another network - just to deliver yr gig? Or even adjust yr stated delivery time if need be -so as to deliver well ahead? If you had best of times with a Buyer, why would a few hours of late delivery stir hell in the Buyer and wants refund? Its strange. And why would CS rush to refund buyer for obviously minor & inconsequential issues? Last time I mentioned "cancellation" to CS, they told me to kill the idea because, in their words, 'if you cancel, you don't earn, neither do we'. Why in yr own case CS would gladly cancel & refund Buyer is strange. I don't know the volume of work you (hire . .van) handle but when you're becoming frequently entangled wth Buyers, then there're issues you need to examine. It could b that knowingly or unknowingly there maybe major violations frm yr end. These encounters of yours (hire . .) ain't normal.

I feel your niche favors you too.

Take for instance web designers.

I once did a perfect affiliate marketing landing page website for a client. Buyer marked order complete and I was waiting for funds to clear o...Only for him to come back weeks after, saying the site did not meet up with Google Adwords and FB ads. He told me to take down the site since it won't work and was requesting 50% refund(Money wey don turn paper for my wallet). Thank God he was understanding enough, after much pleading and scoping he left. So many scenarios can come up in that niche, plugins stopped working, site hacked and all. But if you're experienced enough, you'll scale through scatheless.

Don't get too comfortable there.

Three quotes from the Bible might help:

(Ecclesiastes 9:11, 12) I have seen something further under the sun, that the swift do not always win the race, nor do the mighty win the battle, nor do the wise always have the food, nor do the intelligent always have the riches, nor do those with knowledge always have success, because time and unexpected events overtake them all. 12 For man does not know his time. Just as fish are caught in an evil net and birds are caught in a trap, so the sons of men are ensnared in a time of disaster, when it suddenly overtakes them.

Sometimes you can do everything right, but get the wrong set of results.

Ask those contractors who lived comfrtably under the last administration, but are scraping a living under the current, they did nothing wrong, but times have changed and the way the country is governed has changed

(Exodus 12:38, 39) . . .And a vast mixed company also went with them

We have all sorts of clients on the platform, the good, the bad and the ugly! Have you ever met a crazy irrational person? The difficult to please type, the unyielding and take it or leave it sort of person?

Lessons/Questions:

1. No matter the provocation, do not talk back at your clients, see hazzan.tazzan's story

2. No matter what, do not try to prove to CS or T&S team that they are wrong, even if they are wrong, they have tools at their disposal to make your life miserable. Realize that the balance of power is in their favor and react accordingly, unless you don't mind winning the war but losing the battle for your funds as and when you need them.

3. What if the network issue occured at night?

4. CS once told me that they decide on refunds on a case by case basis, by reviewing the communication with the buyer, and have no obligation to clarify matters with the seller, and that their decision is final, what if their decision was that you were indeed late and the buyer was genuinely upset and felt compelled to compensate the buyer at your expense, what powers have you got to prevent that? What if the buyer wanted the seller to work for free and was using that as an excuse/cover to achieve that aim?

It is not all smooth sailing on those platforms for everyone all the time.

Google the story of a buyer who caused a high profile seller on upwork to be sent off the platform and you will understand that we have got buyers from hell and that freelancing platforms can be as troublesome as they can be profitable.

CS can go nuts - see example here, seller not at fault yet accused of wrongdoing and also buyer can be forced to refund clients with "huge temper tantrums" https://collegetimes.co/upwork-sucks/

For whatever it is worth, my later posts balance my earlier posts that appeared to paint a completely rosy picture of freelancing, thus setting the record straight, while there is good money to be made, all that glitters is not rosy and like God told Adam:

(Genesis 3:19) . . .In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground. . .

This is the reality of freelancing

Wisdom is profitable to direct. There're many Sellers who deliver gigs in hundreds. Some thousands. You think they don't encounter these 'wahala ppl'? They do but they wisely manage them & get past them. I would not share d pessimism you're hoarding here. Freelance marketplaces are today's realities and I look 4ward to many Nigerians coming onboard and earning thereon.

We're not in a debate but I believe some of these -ve xperiences of yours can be better managed and even circumvented altogether.

Alternatively, he could consider not using VPNs at all on both pc and mobile. This way they will think that you opened your account while in US but have changed location now. Like me, after I created my account with a VPN, I stopped using a VPN on it, and I haven't been deported either. Perhaps they are just waiting for my time. Lol!
But I have friends who've been doing same for close to two years now. But mind you, any day you try to login again with a VPN after having not logged in with a VPN for a long time, you'd be deported immediately.

This report ish is completely new to me, i have completed over 100 jobs on Fiverr and not one single complain or report.

The trick is that i urge people to contact me before any job and if it's something that'll stress me for small pay, i just tell the buyer that i cannot do it. Plus i dont work with people that tend to be aggressive on the platform either.

I am a Level 2 seller and i have never had to report anybody and vice versa.

Besides i still dont have a verified phone number on fiverr up till now and they do not bug me either grin

okay sir. I actually opened a Nigerian Fiverr account in 2015 but have not been using it because I didn't have time. Now I'm ready but have been seeing different comments here about using foreign accounts, tips to have buyers, etc I find it difficult to take in all the info. I need a mentor, I need help.

I have knowledge about WordPress, web design, and computer engineering. I'l like you or anyone reading this to guide me in setting up my account and gigs (tips and any info).

Thanks,

Read this thread from page 1-10 only, then post your questions and you'd get responses. I think you should create a new account, I recommend UK cause I think US is saturated. But the choice is yours foreign or naija.

Read this thread from page 1-10 only, then post your questions and you'd get responses. I think you should create a new account, I recommend UK cause I think US is saturated. But the choice is yours foreign or naija.
Thanks.
